Which is worse for kids: The Covid-19 virus or the Covid-19 policies? A CBS reported minced no words yesterday in saying the policies are literally killing our kids and ruining their lives.
For me…my kids hear me rant about this every day, so I might as well tell you guys.
It’s the crushing impact that our COVID policies have had on young kids and children. By far, the least serious risk for serious illness, but — I mean even teenagers, you know, a healthy teenager has a one in a million chance of getting and dying from COVID, which is way lower than dying in a car wreck on a road trip.
But they have suffered and sacrificed the most, especially kids in underrepresented and at-risk communities. And now we have the surgeon general saying there’s a mental health crisis among our kids.
The risk of suicide attempts among girls now up 51 percent this year. Black kids nearly twice as likely as white kids to die by suicide.
School closures, lockdowns, cancelation of sports. You couldn’t even go on a playground in the D.C. area without cops scurrying, shooing the kids off.
Tremendous negative impact on kids, and it’s been an afterthought. It’s hurt their dreams, their future, learning loss, risk of abuse, their mental health.
And now, with our knowledge, our vaccines, if our policies don’t reflect a more measured and reasonable approach for our children, they will be paying for our generation’s decisions the rest of their lives.
And that, to me, is the greatest underreported story of the past year.

The CDC found that the proportion of visits to the emergency room by adolescents between ages 12 and 17 that were mental-health-related increased 31% during the span of March to October 2020, compared with the same months in 2019. A study in the March 2021 issue of Pediatrics, the journal of the American Academy of Pediatrics, of people aged 11 to 21 visiting emergency rooms found “significantly higher” rates of “suicidal ideation” during the first half of 2020 (compared to 2019), as well as higher rates of suicide attempts, though the actual number of suicides remained flat.
Doctors are concerned about possible increases in childhood obesity — no surprise with many kids housebound in stress-filled homes — while addiction experts are warning of the long-term effects of endless hours of screen time when both schoolwork and downtime stimulation are delivered digitally. (Perhaps the only indicator of youth distress that is falling — reports of child abuse and neglect, which dropped about 40% early in the pandemic — is nonetheless worrisome because experts suspect it is the reporting that is declining, not the frequency of the abuse.) Delbert Hoseman said before March 2020 that Mississippi had 750 fewer teachers than 5 years ago.
Currently, there are 3600 open teacher positions (certified teachers) available. That's an increase of 500%, if my math teacher taught me correctly.

How did so many literary and scientific geniuses live and develop in the midst of total ignorance in the lack of the www, helicopter moms and coddling teachers during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance?
Interesting that she leads with "my kids hear me rant about this every day" without the least indication that her ranting has any effect on her kid's perceptions. It apparently never occurs to her that the way in which she presents the challenges shapes their reaction.
Jan Crawford has worked for CBS, ABC, and the Chicago Tribune all of which are left leaning organizations which leads me to believe she is left leaning since these organizations typically don't hire right leaning people. She said she has kids so we can take her comments at face value and truly reflective of her concern for the impact that the current Covid policies are having on her kids and children in general. It is refreshing to see someone speak the truth even when doing so can put one's career in jeopardy. I suspect that the people in charge at CBS may retaliate against her. I hope not but that would be par for the course in today's world.
Most of the world implemented lockdowns. Children all over the world are experiencing the same circumstances. It could be worse - what if your daughter grew up in a Muslim country that refuses to educate girls? Parental involvement in educating their children and working to keep their children mentally healthy is critical. This is a Karen reporter having a meltdown about her lousy parenting. How dare the government take away her babysitter?!
This woman most likely hated the previous administration, and helped to usher in the present one. Now, she's crying about how bad things are.
Typical example of mental illness at its worst, or serious emotional immaturity at the very best.
Leftism is a mental illness of delayed brain development affecting emotional regulation and rational judgment - that is manifested of childhood experiences that denied them any proper role models, discipline, or critical thinking ability. They live their lives by their "feelings", and want someone, anyone - to take care of them when it comes to the hard, grown up stuff - because it hurts too much to have to think.
CBS cut the piece from its viewers. They know the simpletons who watch their programs couldn't handle Covid facts. These are the same people who believe children actually die from Covid and are running around Jackson with their 5 year old double masked with a N95 and cloth masks.
Actually most of the world didn't shut down their schools as we did.
Epidemiologists recommended temporary school closures, masks in class, and vaccines for children. Have they been involved in a great conspiracy with the government? Who knows more, the doctors or this kook reporter? I cannot believe anyone is dumb enough to believe this garbage. Wait, yes I can. Just read the posts.
But left-wing eco-fascists like Tracy Stone-Manning point out that children are "environmental hazards". We should be elated that leaders like Bill Gates and Anthony Fauci have finally taken bold and decisive action to rid the earth of the great excess of "parasites" and "cancers" on this planet. Bill's father must be so proud of him.
Clearly this "reporter" knows nothing.
The reporter is pissed off that the village is not raising, educating and taking care of her children's mental health.

Perhaps the worst thing that the kids have experienced from the Covid policies is the virtual learning. The kids that have had to "learn" this way may never catch up. A friend of mine is a teacher and I asked him why they call it virtual learning. He told me they call it virtual learning because the kids learn virtually nothing.

The most vital urgent and DEEP understanding everyone needs to RE-learn is that psychopaths typically are not physically violent crazies but always stealth predators (exploitative deceivers, which explains why the public has been fed a MISLEADING understanding of psychopaths).
