I noticed on the news people being interviewed about the crime in Jackson. One man complained that the city didn't provide the kids with jobs or have any thing to keep them entertained. Why does he think it is the city's place to entertain and provide work for his kids? Shouldn't he be the one who does that? He is the one who had them. The least he could do is instill some pride and honesty in his kids. Maybe he is waiting for the city to do that for him also.
The people in Jackson believe the police should enforce the law against signs in store windows. I think they should enforce the crime of murder instead. They seem to have their priorities mixed up.
The signs are tacky and makes it hard to see in the store. The same signs in a Madison / Ridgeland / Rankin store would still be tacky.. ...But they'd lack the local criminal element that are the real problem...
@11:22 PM, signs don't shoot back and there is no investigation involved. That's why the JPD chooses to enforce the law against store window signs instead of the law against murder.
Just another distraction for the poor, uneducated and ill-informed designed to keep them poor, uneducated and ill-informed (and Democrats act like Republicans have the dumbest constituents…Bwahahahahahahahahahaha).
11:18 PM, you asked why? For the simple answer just search “give a man a fish, teach a man to fish.”
11:22 PM, mixed up priorities are by leftist Democrat Party design.
Same reason Democrat controlled cities keep “blessing” (as KF puts it) violent criminals via a catch and release revolving door system
i.e. not enforcing current laws (all designed to keep crime high)
then proposing new gun laws for the purpose of going after honest law abiding tax paying productive members of society, that don’t vote Democrat.
Control, Control, Control…the Leftist Democrat modus operandi.
#1-Theres a lot for kids to do in Jackson. Its full of museums, parks, athletic fields, restaurants, stores, live music, and churches with youth centers. Its BS to say theres nothing to do. Well, perhaps no pro athletics..but there's JSU, Belhaven, Millsaps--they all have sports. So do the local high schools.
Its a choice-a young person who has a crappy home life sees his friends with bling and guns. They choose the thug life for easy money.
#2-jobs. Plenty of places around here for teens to have jobs. Fast food worker-plenty of people get their start there. Retail. Mow lawns. Babysit. All of those are jobs. Again--they don't have the income potential of drug dealer, but those new shoes are expensive. The choice for easy money wins again.
#3-Role of Government. Last time I checked, there are plenty of programs for youth that are free and on the taxpayer tab-at the city, county, state, and federal levels. Play basketball at the boys and girls club of MS or make money on the street. The choice for dough wins again.
I think it's choice. The thug life can be lucrative. But your chance of living a long life is low while immersed in it. Choosing NOT to do it may be much harder-but in the end its still a choice.
Wow, jump on the Dems for this one. Do you really think the Republican Mayor of Madison would stand for this? Absolutely not. This is a city ordinance issue. It looks tacky and sloppy. I would think the store owner would want them clear so they could see what is going on in the parking lot or gas pumps. Regardless, the solution is simple. Have code enforcement do their job and cite these gas stations and stores. That will clean them up real quick.
First it was the flag and the statues, now it's the signs? Seriously? This is as bad as some Christians thinking an inanimate object is sinful. The root of the problem is the human race, not some inanimate object. The heart of mankind is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked.

Because the Left believe in mommy and daddy government to feed you, take care of you, cloth you, protect you, tell you what to think, what to wear, etc. and it goes back to the “it takes a village” debate
Maybe they could replace all those sign covered windows with really nice brick........(no...I did not say throw the really nice bricks THROUGH...the windows)
@6:09 Many of these bodega type stores sell novelty potmetal coins with logos for Etherium, Bitcoin, etc. and they know their jr high drop out customers will never know the difference. Most of them will put the trinket on a chain and wear it with a coat covered in (public domain) Apollo and STS mission patches, and an unofficial Tesla Motors T-shirt (also sold in the convenience store)
Reminds me of the scene from “The Jerk” where Navin Johnson thinks the sniper assassin is targeting cans. “ he hates these cans.... more cans”- he was born poor in Mississippi too!
Jackson has had a sign ordinance for years. The biggest offender is named KENNETH STOKES, city councilman. Mr. Stokes has been putting his signs on city utility poles, stop signs, wherever FOR YEARS without enforcement. EVERYBODY KNOWS ABOUT IT including the police. How can they start enforcing the law against everyone else? The Chief knows it but what can he say? It's Jackson.
it seems to me that sign ordnances are a violation of an individual’s constitutionally protected freedom of speech. Please correct me if I am wrong. And the constitution also protect non citizens so Kumar and Pujeet have the freedom to speak their mind as well.
Living in Jackson truly is better. I am rich, I have a degree from Ole Miss, and I live in Madison and I can’t buy bitcoin at any stores near me! To be honest I don’t even know what bitcoin is but I know we can’t buy it in Madison!
This store is always surrounded by rift raft. They even do bonfires at night. Not only is it a public nuisance but it's a nest for drugs and violence. The last thing that matters are the signs in the window when the parking lot and lot next to it is a haven for users and homeless people. I feel sorry for the people who live on Ludlow Ave they have to listen to the arguing and the shooting all night.
Have you been hurt as a result of exposure to a c-store or other business sign? Make that one call, that’s all... We can get you the money you deserve... Call 1-800-for-lawyers
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything). Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up. In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production. Note: Security provided by INS.
Trollfest '07
Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Sonjay Poontang and his band headline the night with a special steel cage, no time limit "loser must leave town" bout between Alan Lange and "Big Cat"Donna Ladd following afterwards. Kamikaze will perform his new song F*** Bush, he's still a _____. Did I mention there was no referee? Dr. Heddy Matthias and Lori Gregory will face off in the undercard dueling with dangling participles and other um, devices. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.
If you get tired come relax at the Fox News Tent. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both will entitle you to free drinks.Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required, just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '07 is for EVERYONE!!!

Too many signs are sold at sign shows without background checks. We're an open carry state where anybody can walk around with a sign.

someone teach Tillman how to wear a mask please!
You are correct about the Queen and as you wrote, it is simply a matter of enforcing the laws on the books.
The funny part here is blaming homicides on the signs. The City Council went on that tangent Tuesday, much to the Chief's relief.
First it was the flag and the statues, now it's the signs? Seriously? This is as bad as some Christians thinking an inanimate object is sinful. The root of the problem is the human race, not some inanimate object. The heart of mankind is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked.

When signs are outlawed only outlaws will have signs.

Lumumba is violating the ordinance regarding the proper placement of political signs all over Jackson. Can we get that law enforced?

My favorite sign inside of these stores:
" For Tobacco Use Only"
"rift raft" 2:17?
Good old "riff raff" not good enough for you? ;-)
@12:55 people with generational wealth don’t brag about it bc it’s already known .. I’m betting you have a mortgage
