I lived in South Jackson 30 years ago. As my neighbors began sacrificing their homes, I watched the market value of my home plummet. A single, young black woman moved in next door and one of the first things she did was have bars installed on her windows. The Apple Ridge area was becoming littered with gang signs etc I have many more stories but...I cannot help but remember how puzzled I was (naive? wet behind the ears? lol) when she installed those bars...why? It was a neighborhood where you could leave bikes out and doors unlocked...

This is a strategy of the Mayor to purge Jackson of the ills of Society. Let the criminals kill each other understanding there my be some collateral damage. The Mayor and Judges in the City of Jackson and Hinds County are smart and well educated, they know what they are doing! It’s just going to take time and patience!! This shit ain’t rocket science! Just stay clear until the dust settles.

I was raised in South Jackson in a time where none of this occurred. It breaks my heart to see how this area has become blighted to the demographics. You never had to worry about anything like this when we were growing up. Heck, you could leave your keys in your car and doors unlocked. That’s absolutely unheard of now, that is unless you forget to do those things by mistake. Some very good people came from South Jackson and they will say the same thing I do. Lots of great memories of fun and friendship. Now things have changed and it’s killing and hatred, and you can say that single parent homes, rap music, drug culture and no understanding of a good education are mostly attributable to the problems in the black community.

Remember when South Jackson had no crime? I don't either.

Update- 2 people have been found murdered at the Archer Street home mentioned in this report.

10:55 AM, you are either too young are not from around here. McDowell Road and Appleridge Shopping Center (says it’s permanently closed now) in South Jackson were extremely safe and extremely fun places to hang out; as was downtown Jackson, Deville Plaza in NE Jackson, etc.

McDowell Rd, Appleridge, Zodiac, Lamar on Lamar St then where Hal & Mal’s is now, Zolis, Adrians, Palm Beach Club. Hell even Westland Plaza in west Jackson was safe and fun in the late 70’s.

Definitely remember when South Jackson wasn’t riddled with criminal activity. If you ask me, it all changed once the Metrocenter (and surrounding businesses) closed its doors. We hardly ever traveled past subdivisions such as Forest Hill and Brookhollow cause everything was so boring. But you know what? Boring is good.

I once lived on Belvedere Drive at a time when Raymond Road and McDowell Road held strong police presences. It was well-known throughout the city that, once anyone crossed over into these areas, JPD would pull you over (or kept setting roadblocks) for absolutely no reason at all. But you know what? I understand, cause Jackson on a whole is out of control.

I will say that their "leadership" has no real interest in solving these problems. A solution that works would put them out of business. Besides the solutions that work are long and hard and not very profitable for the "leaders". It's much more fun to keep failing.

I suspect what you are really referring to is "black" and "black sympathizes," but I already addressed that in my first comment.

To answer your question, Jackson has been rated as one of the consistently-worst-run cities in the country for years, with the highest per-capita homicide rate. So hell no I don't live there. I live in reality, where crimes are committed by criminals, not "leftist" ideology.
