A pair of teen-agers are going to spend some time in prison after they pleaded guilty to robbing a group of high school students at gunpoint a little over a year ago. Ziyan Hopkins pleaded guilty to conspiracy while Nicholas Taylor pleaded guilty to conspiracy and armed robbery in Madison County Circuit Court.
The police report states two males held eight juveniles at gunpoint at the Staybridge Suites in Ridgeland at 6 AM on December 15, 2019. The two toughs collected everyone's cellphones. One masked man demanded to know where an individual was. A victim claimed the person sought left the room and told Nicholaus Deaundre Taylor. The victim said "she believed" they wanted the individual's location "in order to kill him."
One young man said a male he only knew as "Nick" was looking for him to
kill him. He thinks it is because "he started a relationship with a
girl" Nick previously dated. The intent to kill was thus born out of
old-fashioned jealousy. He escaped discovery by hiding under one of the
beds.
Ridgeland police charged Taylor with three counts of armed robbery and Hopkins with one count of conspiracy to commit a crime.
A Madison County grand jury indicted Hopkins for armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery in October, 2020. Hopkins pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit armed robbery January 26. Circuit Judge Steve Ratcliff sentenced the 17 year-old hoodlum to serve five years in prison but suspended one year of the sentence.
Attorney Lisa Ross represented the defendant. Hopkins is the step-son of Hinds County Supervisor David L. Archie.
A bill of information was filed against Taylor in June. He pleaded guilty the next day to armed robbery and conspiracy. Judge Ratcliff sentenced him to serve 25 years in prison but mercifully suspended 13 years of the sentence.

Thank you to this Judge for taking another criminal off the street before a murder was committed. Maybe the young man will find the Lord in prison. If not, maybe he will at least get a decent haircut.
Don't be comin' up in here expectin' no blessin'.
Fine upstanding citizens. Damn, Archie got some issues going on.
I'm sure "the plan" sounded good at the time. He'll enjoy his stay at the big rock candy mountain...
It’s been a bad couple of months for the Archies! Word to the wise, keep your criminal activities in Hinds county.
Archie is probably happy his turd of a step-son is in jail and his wife is leaving him. Probably a huge weight lifted not having to deal with them anymore.
His "turd of a stepson". Shit, HE is a turd, as are the Democrats on the election commission that approved the other "residence" of the liar.
Dumb, Dumb, Dumb, They could have made their plans and done robbery in Hinds County where crazy step dad could put in a word and they would only face probation at worst. Dumb.
I wonder if this will hurt the young stepson's future political career.
Nah! Not in Jackson.
we need these thugs to go to Madison and Rankin county so they will actually be punished. Hinds county lets them go and then blames the Rona for crime. hopefully soon i will be in a position to take a loss on my home and get out of here.
@12:05pm - Just burn it down and run off with the insurance proceeds.
Ziyan is an outstanding St. Andrew’s alumni.
10:58 - not just the Democrats 'on the election commission
Before it got to them, the Democratic Party officials certified him when he qualified. They are tge ones to point the finger at (which, in effect, the committee did to us) by knowingly allow him to qualify when the issue was put before them.
