The owner of Metrocenter didn't back down but fired back at former employees and an investor who sued her in a rather colorful interview. WLBT interviewed Ms. Sanders Friday:
Facing two federal civil suits, the owner of the Metrocenter Mall tells 3 On Your Side she didn’t employ two people who said they were never paid for their services, including someone who claimed to be a senior vice president for the organization.
Because they weren’t employees, owner Emily Seiferth Sanders said she doesn’t owe them money and told them several times that she would not be able to pay them unless she got enough funding for the renovations she’s planned at the state’s largest mall for months.
“I’m sorry for supporting someone that I thought would do the right thing,” said Katherine Parker, who served as the mall’s public relations director for more than six weeks.
Parker said her salary, by verbal agreement from Sanders, would have been $50,000 a year, but she didn’t get a dime and eventually resigned.
“[Sanders] said, ‘I am so sorry for that. I am so sorry for that,’” Parker said. “She was genuine.”
Her boss, Bill Grigsby, said he was the senior vice president for the mall. Grigsby said he had been promised a six-figure salary by verbal agreement.
“$125,000 a year as a base salary, 12.5 percent of the net profits paid on an annual basis, and an apartment would be included,” Grigsby said.....
Watch the story and read the rest of the article.
Grigsby sued Ms. Sanders and her cohorts in U.S. District Court. The lawsuit is posted below.

I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. But once someone has proven themself to be untrustworthy, they have to earn it. BTW, independent contractors have a right to be paid too.
Wouldn't it be great if I could open a business and pay people contingent on future profits. But then that sounds kinda like a partnership.
Third world bullshit. Flim flam fraudsters chasing each other around filing bogus pro se lawsuits filled with sovereign citizen style nonsense.
She's running a long con. She's got another sucker or suckers somewhere in the background who will hopefully buy her way out of this. If not she would have pulled the plug and got out of town weeks ago. Stay tuned.

I’m sorry for them but this is comical. I’m guessing this person never stepped foot in the metro center mall or knew anything about the history of the area where the mall is?
Such impeccable credibility that this woman has!
she is a fake as her eyelashes
>Parker said her salary, by verbal agreement from Sanders, would have been $50,000 a year, but she didn’t get a dime and eventually resigned.

Always get it in writing.
2:57 The mere possibility of something big beats nothing at all. That's the currency this lady uses instead of money or written contracts when dealing with people with no money.
Con Game 101
@2:16p- EXACTLY!!
@2:57p- ABSOLUTELY!! No individual claiming to be worth 6 figures, plus a percentage of profits, plus housing would EVER start working without a contract or at least some type of an agreement in writing. He apparently does not have much real world experience... much less, JACKSON experience! (I found it curious he left the state (from the mall) in his U-Haul... did he really MOVE here for this?!?)
Same goes for the lady... who in their right mind doesn't research the company/owner BEFORE they accept the job. Given the public record on Emily, she should have had enough sense to request a contract. If she didn't, she's not worth the salary she claims she was promised. You cannot work successfully in business and not know these things!
This Emily chick is going to let this mall go back to a tax sale and will have lost NO MONEY personally on the deal (given that she received it for free.) The rents she's receiving are going into her pocket and I'm willing to bet any improvements are coming out of her investors pockets. She's a fraud and this game/con she's running needs to be halted before she takes advantage of any more people or businesses. I hope the IRS and state are watching this situation.
Dear people of Jackson... STOP emotionally supporting people and businesses because of the color of their or their owner's skin. If there's smoke, there's fire... I don't care if a person is red, yellow, black, white, or purple! Being a particular race doesn't make a person or business "anointed" or blessed by a higher power. Calling out a fraud doesn't make a person racist. This woman, Emily, should have NEVER been given this mall. She NEVER had the funds to complete what she has promised. If she was truly trying to turn the mall around, her FIRST step would have been the curb appeal... PERIOD. If she didn't have the money to get the exterior and surrounding area in shape, she should NOT have accepted the property. The fact that so many tenants gave her money to operate inside this mall when their customers cannot even safely access the facility shows another depth of business/consumer ignorance running rampant in the city of Jackson.
A Grifter
Complaint by Gisgsby claims he was hired by letter.
I don't think anyone is going to accuse any of these cats of being too bright.
Now, here is another question. Is she fronting?
Kingfish @6:39 PM,
I'm not sure I understand your question. Will you please explain?
@7:02p- Courtesy of Google...
4. act as a front or cover for someone or something acting illegally or wishing to conceal something.
"he fronted for them in illegal property deals"
"fronting" can also be construed to mean "confronting."
Contracts do not have to be in writing.
Amazingly unbelievable that not one but TWO so called professional-level people would accept job offers with terms and conditions being 'verbal'.
If independent contractors (neither of these positions would pass IRS conditions muster) it would be insane to not have a contract in place.
If employees, it would be insane to not have a written, signed job offer, signed as accepted by the employee as well.
As to 'fronting', that suggestion makes no sense. The woman is simply a fraud. I can't help wondering if McHenry is involved.
'Wouldn't it be great if I could open a business and pay people contingent on future profits.'
Not unusual at all in the private sector. Happens ever day, with regularity, that salaries are based, in part, on profit.
4:12, that’s bs. I’ve had several jobs with reputable firms without written employment contracts. They made me an offer, I showed up for work, and I got paid. My real world is different than yours.
@7:31 PM,
I know what fronting is, but for whom is she fronting? That is what I'd like to know?
States may sing their songs of praise
With waving flags and hip-hoo-rays,
Let cymbals crash and let bells ring
'Cause here's one song I'm proud to sing.
(1st chorus)
GO, MIS-SIS-SIP-PI, keep rolling along,
GO, MIS-SIS-SIP-PI, you cannot go wrong,
Go, Mississippi, we're singing your song,
M-I-S, S-I-S, S-I-P-P-I.

The whole purpose of getting it in writing is taking it to court.
"I’ve had several jobs with reputable firms without written employment contracts. They made me an offer, I showed up for work, and I got paid. My real world is different than yours. January 25, 2021 at 12:39 AM"
Hello, Dimwit. Look, I've dashed across a busy intersection on foot without being killed, too, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea.
All job offers at a professional or highly skilled level should be in writing. Protects both parties.
"We never discussed that."
"Yes we did."
"Prove it!"
"Case dismissed."
