Homicide on Jefferson Street

JPD issued the following statement.

JPD is investigating a shooting that occurred just after 1:30am in the 1300 block of N. Jefferson St. Two adult males were wounded after two unknown male suspects approached and fired shots. One is deceased and the second is hospitalized, in stable condition. Motive is unknown.

Kingfish note: Damn.  I drove down that street last month.  Could've been me.

I doubt that you were driving down there at 1:30 a.m.

As my momma used to say, "nothing good goes on in the 'hood after midnight."

I feel for people who are forced to live in an apartment. They are magnets for low-lifes and crime. There is a 400-unit apartment complex under construction in an annexed part of Canton. It will destroy property values of homes in Gluckstadt areas adjacent to these apartments, and property crimes will escalate in Gluckstadt.

Thank Mayor Mary for not having apartments in Madison the City.

Apartments are not the problem.

Is that #81?

@9:59, if what you say about apartments is true (which it isn't), then you're doomed. Ridgeland to the south, water to the east, soon-to-be contaminated Gluckstadt to the north, and you live in styrofoam stucco walls that can't stop bullets. Your only escape is a narrow pass to the west. Head for Flora now!!!

You can thank current Madison County Supervisor Karl Banks for that apartment development. He sold the land to the developers. Hopefully Harreld wins his election contest appeal and somehow wins the special election. Not that it would help with the current development but perhaps future ones. The real travesty is how Canton was allowed to annex literally just I-55 and nothing on either side south for 5 miles in order to grab land at the Sowell exit and across from Germantown back in the 2000s, including where the new apartment complex is being built.

I sometimes have to check my competitive nature. I don't really mean it, but I often times find myself unwittingly thinking "only x number more to go before we break the record."

Anyone else find themselves doing that?

Appears to be number-wise across the street from Jefferson Place Apts, although there is a fourplex there I'm not sure is it. The cross street is Poplar Blvd. This is the corner of Belhaven with near access to N State and the vacant lot of the Baptist Laundry that has always been the most problematic in Belhaven.

@9:59, surely more guns will help. It’s our only hope.

Lock & Load at 8-31-20 reply:

The apartments going up off I-55 in south Canton are not going to
hurt property values.
I live in Madison and don’t want any apartments to be constructed
but where those apartments are being built on the side of I-55 won’t hurt.

Four grown men hanging out at 1:30am. All losers

@10:41 (2)
You should should volunteer to give up your gun first.

I don't have any because I sold them all on armslist and bought a 3D printer

Canton Annexations are for Truly. He wants to get the kids who will live there into the MCSD and out of the CSD. We've lost the Amazon business going in at Rt 22 and Nissan Parkway to the county, like Nissan. City isn't going to have the October Flea Market and Victorian Christmas is seriously in doubt. Rumor has it that Mother Mary is doing what she can to get next years, and years to come, Flea markets to become a fixture in her city. Canton is really sliding now.

We were told that the new apartments in Canton, The Trails of Madison County, cute name, are considered high valued, but I'm sure some are being declared Section 8 types. If you look on line the Links and Greens of Madison County, in Canton city limits, are listing as both Canton and Gluckstadt. Sure it's a typo, but it reads that way.

Anonymous said...

The apartments are 1 and 2 bedrooms only, with the 1-BR units going for ~$750/month.

I hope that they don't negatively impact nearby property values, but...

The developer said in an interview that Nissan is not their customer base. Illegals from the chicken plant?

WJTV announcing a body was found on Capers Ave 30 minutes ago......rack up another one.

More to follow tonight due to "Dang'd Ole Racist Gun shows".....Rolling on the floor with laughter at that one! Wonder who ties Kenufh's shoelaces everyday, cause:

1. He ain't smart enuff to operate complicated items
2. He ain't seen 'em in 30 yrs

ANYONE who thinks the "Trails of MC" apartments won't negatively effect neighborhoods AT LEAST to Catlett Rd. on the West(sorry 300k+ Greyhawk) needs to pass me what they are smoking, because it's better than mine.

The Jackson/Frondren crowd is truly desperate to change the narrative on any crime post about how bad the city is even in the “nice” parts. They have to try and spin the discussion to an apartment complex located 22 miles North to try and cover up a double shooting happened in the keifers/manship/elvies/1st pres area

Why is everyone ignoring Baby Choc's seasoned and wise observation about the problem being gun shows? Shut them down and we will stop this foolishness, don't y'all think? Yep, gun shows are the problem.

" The apartments going up off I-55 in south Canton are not going to
hurt property values. "

Sorry, but all apartments (over time) will always hurt property values.

That's nothing against apartment owners individually, but only a simple fact of long term city/county planning history.

Not just in Madison County, but across the Nation.

Granted this is second-hand info, but I've been told two white males were standing taking outside their place when two black males approached and opened fire, the male that survived has said. He was shot, and when his friend turned to run, was also shot and killed. Again, not sure how accurate this is, but it comes from credible sources. Kingfish, you might want to check this out.

Anonymous said...

The deceased, the shot survivor, nor the Belhaven neighbors care where apartments are going up in another county. Stop deflecting and own your shit, Jacksonians. Own it so you can attempt to fix it then we’ll all be better served.

I was at the hospital the other day and there was a black family walking out of the emergency room distraught. One man in his 20s in particular was crying inconsolably. I guessed maybe his daughter or sister was one of the ones killed.

It made it so real.

It's so easy to look past each of these as "just another day in Jackson".

Not to the families.

Stop f*****g killing each other.

1.30 in the morning? This may have been a dope deal gone bad.

Anonymous said...

8:28 has probably never been to Belhaven.

I'm not sure in the CoVid world, but before CoVid it was common to see people out and about at 1:30 AM ie when Fenian's had last call, etc.

I see Kingfish is going after the Clarion-Ledger. Can we talk about how downhill WLBT has gone? I think the 5th grade at Casey could do a better job at delivering the news.

Quick! Let's find out what gun show legally sold the weapon or what homeowner allowed their lawfully owned weapon to be stolen from their locked residence. Then we can blame the gun and get leftist recognition from the Democratic party. Just in time for ole' perv Joe's election. "C'mon Man!"

10:40 a.m.: Yes, I do. God help us both.

Confirmed - It was Drug deal (meth) gone bad

Of course the survivor didn’t want to be tied to the drug deal so initially pretended like it was random violence - It was not. And the shooting occurred inside the apartment, not on the street.

Drugs are bad

Get back on topic. No more comments about Madison County.

Seriously how many murders in Jackson for the year?

The problem isn’t guns.... let that go. The problem is values, they have none. It’s absolutely a parenting problem. Raise your kids

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
