What is Going on at Little Footprints?

The Little Footprints Day Care Center allegedly kicked a family out after the mother dared, dared mind you, to ask to see the video of her child after the little tot came home bruised. WJTV reported:

The Truth Hurts Because It Should said...

One parent should stay at home and raise your kids. Stop chasing the buck and live within your means!!!!!

@9:56

And those uppity blacks need to stay off your tv too, right? This isn’t the fault of parents working to provide for their family.

Anonymous said...

@9:56 - OK, boomer.

Anonymous said...

Bout ready for 9:56 to keel over.... Your constant bs about this is as old as you are.

bc anyone under the age of nearly-dead knows it's impossible for a middle class family to have one breadwinner these days.

Anonymous said...

9:56 I totally agree, but the problem is that the luxuries of yesterday are the necessities of today. I don't like to, but that's life in the 21st century.

Anonymous said...

@9:56. I bet you're a 75 year old incel.

Anonymous said...

9:56, I have some very specific ideas of how you should live as well, for the betterment of society as whole. Would you like to hear them?

Anonymous said...

9:56 and 10:10 are exactly right. Truth hurts. Stay at home and raise your, YOUR children.

Anonymous said...

@9:56 AM Being judgmental and antiquated does not help anyone. You don't know everyone's situation, and accusing working parents of "chasing the buck" is unfair and unkind. Only individual families know what's best for their own family. And child abuse is NEVER ok or acceptable! All parents, working or not, should be able to leave their children in the care of a babysitter, daycare, nanny, family member, etc. and expect that their children will be safe. What is happening at Little Footprints is not the fault of the parents! What about the huge issue that went on in the Catholic church, where priests were abusing children? Is that the parents' fault, because they're the ones who sent their children to church?

Anonymous said...

@10:05, No, it is possible. But it calls for Sacrifice of many of the material things we think we "must have" or "can't live without". I know people who make it work and they and their kids are more well adjusted that many others. They don't have the best cable package-they have internet and stream, they don't have the latest and greatest smart phones, Their cars are not the newest and most expensive, their clothing isn't expensive brands, they rarely eat out-instead they have dinner at home and actually have conversations with each other. It can be done, but far too many people aren't willing to put the effort into their family. They sacrifice their family time for convenience.

And people thought that by moving north out of Jackson their problems would just melt away like the Mississippi snow. No crime, child abuse, murder, drugs, and on and on. Turns out its the same ole stuff just behind faux corinthian columns...

Anonymous said...

THANK YOU 10:34. Saying you "have to work" is a lie for many, many people. Some people have to, but others "want more stuff". All these kids shooting mass killing kids and deranged adults doing the same, is a direct function of shitty child rearing by selfish, materialistic "parents".

Anonymous said...

I'm a millennial and I completely agree with 9:56. If anything it was the boomers who ruined the great system we had where the wife stayed home and only the husband worked. Now as a result everything is more expensive and child care is outsourced to unqualified people

Anonymous said...

Does nobody have the authority to shut this place down and blackball the proprietors? There should be a registry for individuals who mistreat children at care facilities so that they can't just move to another one when they get run off from one.

Anonymous said...

11:32, yes - that registry is called prison, but in Hinds County you have a better chance of getting struck by lightning than prosecuted.

Anonymous said...

I tried staying home with my children and it did not work. I worked all day chasing kids, running errands, doing housework, etc., and when hubby came home he expected me to have a full dinner cooked and everything in order because I was "at home all day".

Not fair to have one parent have two-ten jobs at home (unpaid) and one parent have a job outside the house. It's not good for the parent OR the child(ren). It puts the stay at home parent at the mercy of the breadwinner (have to ask for money), and many times the kids grow up, the breadwinner divorces the stay at home Mom, and there she is with nothing.

Anonymous said...

@11:45.

Both LF locations are in Madison County.

Anonymous said...

All you mom should stay at home folks must be voting for BS.

Good God Almighty! As my mother would say. Parents should accept child abuse by a day-care provider as a consequence of deciding to work?

Let's draw a parallel here: If a woman enrolls in a gym program in order to get in better shape and drop a few, and she's raped by an employee at the business....It's her fault for eating too much?

Some of you need to be on lock-down in the nervous hospital.

Anonymous said...

There is a nationwide child abuse registry.

There is also due process.

Little Footprints has been sued and has settled out of court many times over the years. Amputated fingers, children forgotten and left outside to burn in 105+ degree heat, bookcases falling on children, the list goes on. These are just the ones we know about. We didn’t know these things when we sent our child there. 2 weeks later we pulled them out. Please continue your expose of this horrible business. All child care places are NOT like Little Footprints. Parents and their children deserve basic safety.

Anonymous said...

Oh bless it.... Some of us moms have to work so that we can afford our spec homes, STUDENT LOANS, food, gas, etc. You know standard bills. Working parents shouldn't mean abused children. We live under our means and we make the same amount if we cut that by half we would be living below poverty so... either we starve or we have abused children.... RIGHT...

Anonymous said...

Amputated fingers? It is not the daycares fault that a mother left her child in her vehicle.

Snowflakes Abound said...

First, if anyone posting actually watched the video and had kids, they would see that in this case there is a good chance this is the standard rough play of toddlers. Not one daycare doesn't disclose that children may be bitten by other children or have disagreements resulting in aggressive acting out by a child. And, when your child is bitten or hit, they send a note. What they don't do is tell you whose kid did it. Nor should they. Why? So Joe Blowhard doesn't try to beat up the other parent in retaliation. Hell no should they show this family there kid being bitten or hit by another kid.

Now, they also reserve the right to dismiss the offending child or require the parents to seek aggressive behavior therapy. I think this child may be a victim of toddlers acting out and maybe one of the aggressors as well? See ya because it is up to the parent to model proper behavior at home and try to help toddlers understand what bad behavior is if they encounter it. Biting Bad. Hitting Bad. If you are hit don't fight back, cry and get Ms So-n-so.

@12:34pm You clearly got married for the wrong reasons. Or married a jerk. Ask for money? Was that for groceries or some kind of frivolous crap? Without pay? Did your husband charge you rent or keep a ledger of your food and housing expenses that you paid for? WTF!?! Marriage is a union that requires sacrifice from both. If you agreed to give being a stay-at-home a chance, then own it! Otherwise, you are a bitter Hillary voter best I can tell.

Its really sad that the public believes everything they hear. All three of my children have been to Little Footprints. Its the best pre-school and daycare hands down. Good Luck on saying all the negative things about this business. It will not be shut down and the staff and owners are absolutely wonderful. You can not let one teacher ruin the whole daycare. So until you have all the facts and know all the details find something else to talk about. This world is filled negative people.

" Amputated fingers"

Yep.

Ii's common in many situations.

Just one example:
(It can happen when one tries to catch a boomerang).

Next chance ya get, watch the classic 80's film "Mad Max II: The Road Warrior".

I totally agree with @ 8:56. I have personally seen this daycare in action. I would not want my child to attend ANY other daycare. Their first priority are always the safety and well being of the children. All daycares have accident/incidents but just don’t get publicized. This center , staff & owners go above & beyond for their children and love them like their own. Don’t let one bad teacher put a bad taste in your mouth. I also agree with @ 7:36. A daycare can only go so far in disciplinary actions. The issues are brought forth to the parents and told to please discuss/enforce the issue with the child at home. Toddlers will be toddlers & accidents do happen. And yes the center can dismiss any child if deemed necessary. Oh & one other thing. People need to get all of their facts straight before they bash Little Footprints. Amputated fingers etc...please, not even!!!

7:36,8:56,,9:34, you’re the only 3 people to defend this daycare in two separate posts about child abuse. You’re either an owner or family member. You’re to obvious. Comment here much??

Anonymous said...

Looks like the owners and employees monitor this blog.

Anonymous said...

Seems maybe an owner and a couple of employees have posted. Can some of you really NOT see the pattern of neglect and mismanagement going on in these two places over the years? It's nonsense for you to suggest 'this is only one isolated instance'. Day Care Centers are not dog pounds or kennels for God's sake. Why operate them as if they are?

Now, back to bashing the mothers who deposit their children here in 3..2..1

Make sure when you state that people who move north of Jackson do so thinking they are leaving Jackson and it’s problems behind. You are obviously pointing to the city of Madison and this facility is not located within the city. It is in Gluckstadt where homes are much less expensive. I have not heard of any daycare within the city limits of Madison having these kinds of issues. Make sure you know the difference between the two entities.

Anonymous said...

A friend of ours left a 2 star google review for Little Footprints Gluckstadt. She said she had a wonderful teacher for her kid but wanted the daycare to get cameras that the parents could monitor from home. They go in to drop off their son and have a nice letter saying they have been kicked out. A lot of commenters say this place should be shut down. What are the parents of the 100 plus kids going to do with their children? There is a waiting list at every single daycare. You can't just go sign up little Billy and start the next day. My wife and I work hard for what we have. We moved to Madison for our child. The schools are better, the sports are better, the community is better, and the homes maintain their values. The problem with these daycares is they pay their employees terrible wages. Bunch of fresh out of high school, 7.50 an hour girls. Up their pay, allow parents to watch the cameras anytime they want, actively review cameras to look for any issues and you will quit seeing this crap happening.

I'm a " boomer" was able to be a " stay at home" mom and am grateful that I could.
However, the math is different today. The cost of living has gone up while the wages have not kept pace nor have the benefits or hours of work required.
I think some boomers have convenient memory loss about their budgets and salaries in those days. I suspect some of you weren't the ones who wrote the checks and even if you did, you weren't the consumer who had to make the budget work.
Our first apartment was $150 a month. That same apartment, with few updates save paint and appliances is now $1500 a month. Our first house was $50000 and that same house just sold for $425000 with no additional square footage.
But, beyond that, boomers who stayed near family got a great deal of support that was in labor and momma bringing by extra food she'd grown in the garden or hand me downs of all sorts.

Day care centers are supposed to be licensed and monitored.
I can understand the parents not being given access to video but Children's Protective Services should be able to have access. And, they should be able to look at the employees' records to make sure they were properly vetted.
Children's Protective Services needs to be investigating.

So if they have been sued multiple times and "settled out of court" seems they would have their insurance company involved. I am not a day care professional, but insurance companies take the frequency and severity of claims, especially in child care, seriously. If this were true, one should take a look at who they are with now, and the day cares loss runs to tell the story. If it as bad as some say, I would be hard pressed to see how any insurance company would take them.

Anonymous said...

Nope, not an employee or friend of anyone at Little Footprints. But, I have children and they have gone to daycare. Everyone one of them explained the policy on bitting and hitting by other children. And when my child was bitten or hit, they did not proffer the identity of the other child. And when my child did something they shouldn't, a note was sent that we needed to address this behavior as best we could. That if it became a pattern that they would ask us to leave.

Looking at the scars on that child in the video clearly, an adult didn't bite that child. And I would think if an adult hit a child hard enough to cause a shiner, it would have a wider bruise pattern around the eye.

I think there is more to this particular story that is not at the level of an actual employee abusing a child as the other lady had.

The amputated finger story is true. I once worked with the mom. I don’t know much, but I wasn’t going to press her for a bunch of details either. I let her only tell what she was comfortable telling.

We used to have our child there. We had some good experiences. We’ve also had a number of unsatisfactory incidents, and too much staff switching along with my child and belongings always in three different rooms everytime the day ended (staff would just point where they thought and had me running around looking) just let me know it was time to go. It was also difficult to get in touch with the owners. They, at the time, did not have their contact information posted in a visible area for the parents, per state regulations. Luckily for us, the director was good. Other parents, I'm sure, have had great experiences. However everyone has different levels of what they would deem okay. For example, a black eye isn’t something I would expect my child to come home with, although it’s obvious another commenter feels it could happen. And hopefully I’d get that call if it did!! But asking for video footage isn’t a reason to get kicked out. I hope the owners don’t continue to take advantage of the parents with good experiences supporting them that they overlook, put down, or hide the truly serious incidents that have happened or may happen. They’ll seem like they’re using people’s kids for money.

This is the ‘ghetto’ daycare of the area. If your kid gets kicked out of one of the respectable ones, this is normally where they end up. You can imagine the parental involvement with most of these kids. Sad situation all around.

Anonymous said...

10:38 Really?

Anonymous said...

Another satisfied (and unrelated) customer here. My daughter and my brother’s son went there for several years. We had nothing but positive experiences and our kids enjoyed it.

Anonymous said...

I can't speak for Little Footprints currently. They do have 2 locations.

My child did attend at the Distribution Drive location about 10 years ago. An older caucasian lady named Ms. Pritchard was her teacher. I was very happy with the place, and very happy with the teacher. Very happy. My daughter attended for one year before going to kindergarten (my wife had been a stay-at-home-mom prior to that). I have zero complaints about the service we received.

I have no knowledge of their current level of care.

Other than the place off in the woods of Christmas Lane, where are all these Madison day-care facilities?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
