Warren Strain's wife posted an update on Facebook last night:
if he continues doing well on the trache they will collar him and try to go smaller which would be a wonderful first step. Please please pray to God that he does well. The trache is nothing short of frightening and my gosh painful. It's in your throat and sewn to your skin for goodness sakes. God I need help dealing with that. They are working with him for physical therapy and God bless him he's got atrophy bad! Please pray he can hold his neck up. I feel so helpless I hate it. He's stable thank God and this is a slow slow process I say that a few hundred times too. And I thank God Warren is still with us and we are going to do it together with God's help.

Bless them. Continued prayers for Warren and his family.
I hope and pray for recovery and the best for him. I know the side that was damaged will make it hard for him to communicate. As I was told for my son it will be a long slow race. It takes time. He had an AVM on the right side that ruptured when he was 18. He's in his second year of law school now and doing well.
I do not know the family, but feel compelled to offer them a little help in this appallingly sad time. But please, Kingfish, can you clarify what exactly the GoFundMe is for! These seem like people who have good insurance in place, so what exactly would we be funding? Why is the goal $100,000? I hope this is not an offensive query. I truly feel for them, but would like more info before I pledge an amount. I think others may wonder about this, too, so I hope you will publish this comment.
Kingfish,
Thanks for posting the link to make a donation.
@2:42 PM - read the text on the GoFundMe page linked by KF.
Thanks for link. Donating now. But does the family not have insurance to cover hospital costs and therapy? They seem like the kind that would.
We're all just one major illness from bankruptcy. Even government employees with many more safety nets than the rest of us. At some point, it looks like you all would get tired of this and stop voting against your interests to spite your neighbors. All you're doing is making insanely wealthy people wealthier while our infrastructure, educational system and public health crumbles.
State employees can also donate leave to Warren to ensure he keeps receiving a paycheck (I think the maximum he can receive is 90 days), and 2:42 there are a lot of things that state insurance won't pay for and unreimbursed costs accumulate pretty quickly.
This is terrible. What is the point f paying big insurance premiums each month, if it doesn’t cover things like this?
