The Pearl River Valley Water Supply District issued the following statement.
A temporary lane closure has been set up for a short distance on lower Spillway Road, East bound into Rankin County. The excessive rainfall we have experienced today has created road hazards capible of causing vehicle damage. Please prepare for delays on your evening commute.
Repairs will begin as soon as possible but cannot be achieved during these roadway saturation conditions.

Does that mean standing water, the dam embankment is sliding in places, or the road is developing big potholes? One has to wonder.
Damn. I thought Madison and Rankin county roads were perfect, only Jackson had deteriorating roads. And this one is not that old, nor is it on Yazoo Clay.
Guess for the Jackson haters on this site, it's now time to move to Leake or Scott County.

Always trouble spots in the right lane.
Lol 5:09. I love both Jackson and Rankin but the difference is Rankin is on top of it and will fix it. Jackson cannot due to understandable reasons. Nor can Jackson keep the traffic lights functioning correctly, again I understand it’s hard on a shoestring budget.
@5:09 Once and for all I don't hate Jackson...or any other third world dump either.
Fake news
It is caused by total dam saturation. I've been having premonitions of a magnitude 5 earthquake happening beneath the Rez. If it happens during this rainfall I predict the dam fails. Jackson may be the next victim of climate change.
PRVWSD can't afford spell check?
Was on there today (Tuesday afternoon) It was a damn disaster. Huge holes every few feet.
The announcement is unclear. Is eastbound traffic possible? Is one lane closed or both? Is the upper road now two way traffic? Has Ridgeland installed tag-spotter cameras yet? Can egrets be bar-be-cued legally? Thanks for the confusion PRVWSD.
The right lane eastbound just needs to be milled and repaved for the entire length of the spillway. Looks like a road in Jackson.
5:09, I’m not a Jackson hater but you should probably self identify as a Rankin/Madison hater.
It’s inevitable that this comment appears on any problem of any kind in neighboring counties.
What you need to understand is that we realize problems will arise and we will deal with them.
The difference in Jackson is the great number of problems that arise and never get dealt with.
Spillway is all tore up due to Rankinites using it heavily on a daily basis. Also jam up Ridgeland roads during each rush hour with the lights favoring them each way. I always thought that when 25 was completed it would take most of this heavy traffic away. 25 is already obsolete. Need to put tolls on each end of the Spillway and charge $1 each way. These folks would gladly pay this. Split money between Madison, Rankin and PRVWSD.
