A Chism Strategies/Millsaps College poll claims Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith leads challenger Mike Espy by nine points. However, the poll said only 44% of voters approve of her job performance. The poll also said affordable health care was the most important issue to those surveyed. Some highlights of the poll are:
* "Of the surveyed voters, 44% approve of her job performance in the Senate while 36% disapprove. A full 19% of the Mississippi electorate neither approves or disapproves of her performance with the election ten months away. According to our findings at this early stage, Hyde-Smith holds a nine-point lead over likely Democratic challenger Mike Espy with nearly 20% of the electorate undecided, including 34% of Independents and 30% of Republican Leaners."
* 53% oppose President Trump's conviction and removal in his Impeachment trial while 42% favor removal.
* 50% think the state is heading in the wrong direction while 42% think it is heading in the right direction.
* Healthcare. Did someone say healthcare? The press release states:
56% favor adding some form of Medicare option to reduce the amount that families pay for their
health insurance. Among these voters, 33% back allowing Americans to choose between a public option or private health insurance, while 23% favor replacing the current health care system by expanding Medicare to cover all American citizens. 36% say they instead want to reduce existing regulations in the insurance markets.
* 46% of respondents are Republican, 31% are Democrats. 33% were black while 65% were white.
* 24% said most important issue for legislature was making healthcare more affordable while 21% said it was funding public schools.
* 60% favor Medicaid expansion buuuuuuuut..... check out the question:
12. Mississippi is one of 14 states that has not expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act. States that have expanded Medicaid have seen increased insurance coverage for low-income, uninsured citizens and greater financial stability for rural and small-town hospitals. Would you support or oppose expanding Medicaid in Mississippi?
Not loaded at all.
* 45% said they were willing to pay higher taxes to fund roads and bridges improvements while 48% said they were opposed.

Good Lord! A poll designed and taken by Milsaps College is as worthless as one taken by Jackson State or at a card table inside Saltines in The Fondren.
Sorry to have misspelled Millsaps - But 89% of us link that misspelling to their irrelevance.
and there’s a 99 percent chance the poll is inaccurate...
44% approval is shockingly high.
Job performance? What precisely has she done, and what legislation has she sponsored?
Is the attachment encrypted?
I conducted a poll once and the results revealed that the Milsaps' polls are almost worse than a DNC poll.
Another crap sample by the non-pollster. Don't know why his "polling" clients don't demand that he get the sample right.
Espy loses again.
When blogs and other outlets post the results of these meaningless polls, it simply emboldens the fake pollsters and encourages more of the same. I'd be willing to bet if Millsaps sponsored or ran a poll asking about Jackson city government, 70% would respond that Baby Chock is doing a swell job.
Robot test shows image of a single traffic light and demands that I select all fire plugs.
Damn, if Minnie Pearl and Mike Espy are the best candidates we can field for a U.S. Senate seat, then I'd hate to see the worst. I say this every election cycle, but I may just have to sit this one out.
7:36... Cindy has already done more than Cochran. She's no RINO.
CHS has been a pleasant surprise. I was not too hot on her at first, but man she has been a great Senator. Screw Millsaps anyway... no way they poll accurately.
Shes is pretty much just a rubber stamp, place holder, it's not like there is some mystery how shes going to vote on issues, she is a party line follower like the rest of the bad policy gop establishment.
Oh, what blatant ignorance and bias you show, January 22, 2020 at 10:06 AM with your "Cindy has already done more than Cochran. She's no RINO" comment!
First of all, anyone who uses the term "RINO" is a bumbling, uneducated fool. I am a Republican. Senator Cochran was a Republican. You people are "in name only" and need to disassociate yourselves from OUR party.
No one could have accomplished anywhere near as much in a short term as Senator Cochran did through his many years of service! Further, with all due respect to Senator Hyde-Smith, she is simply not as experienced and capable. Senator Cochran left a great legacy and immeasurable accomplishments for the State of Mississippi.

And a trail of budget busting pork financed by ChiCom debt from one end of our state to the other.
Cindy = Embarrassing
Cindy = Not the sharpest tool in the shed
Cindy = Not able to think for herself
Cindy = Lightweight
Anybody notice how often Gallo has her on the radio all the way from DeeCee? As with many republicans in office, Supertalk gives her all the free air-time she wants.
She regurgitates the party narrative, talks about the weather in Washington, gives her opinion on impeachment and mentions a few things about 'the people's bidness'. Nothing of substance and nothing that makes me think she should be re-elected.
This week she's talked twice about being on board Air Force One with the president, how cool it was being able to talk to him and watch part of an NFL football game during the flight.
Hopefully someone other than Espy will surface.
Why don't the Repubs get someone decent and presentable enough to primary Minnie Pearl?
She has no freaking business in the U.S. Senate.
What about that guy who cut his 'stache hoping to get the OM Chancellor gig? But he'd have to give up twelve committee positions.
