Dispatch From Pelahatchie: Meltdown!

The town clerks quit today.   Mayor Ryshonda Beechem suspended Town Clerk Tommy Lyle for thirty days with pay. He quit today when his suspension ended. The Deputy Clerk quit as well.  Meanwhile the city attorney, Joe Deaton,  resigned earlier this month.   He was the fourth city attorney since July 1, 2017.

This angry black woman is a menace to local government. How can everyone she works with be a racist or insubordination? The common thread between all of these people is her.

What the hell authority does a mayor have to suspend anybody? This junior high girl-shit needs to end. Kennuth Stokes with a vagina, on parade!

Kingfish said...

There is plenty of blame to go on both sides in that town. Both.

3:48 is correct. The Mayor has no authority to "suspend" anyone. The City acts through the Board and through the Board's minutes. If the Board "suspends" an employee - that's a different story.

I'll take your word for it, KF. But damn. Four attorneys in less than two years??

Anonymous said...

I thought a mayor could suspend someone under their direct authority. Why can't the board do a recall on the mayor or suspend her?

Anonymous said...

Where did Knox Ross go. He was a good mayor?

4 different attorney's tells me all I need to know.

Ryshonda beez mad cause she ain't gettin her way !

Breaking News: There will soon be a new reality show: The Real Bitches of Pelahatchie.

CN&N out of Morton said...

Don't look now, but there's 8 fellas sitting at a 4 top at Billy Burgers in Puckett planning a possible coup.

Pelahatchie was "movin' on up" just a few years ago.

With the Muscadine festival and such . . .

I always got a kick out of watching some of the local news "celebs" take their shoes off and and try to stomp some wild Rankin "berries" into 'wine'.

Give me some Florence moonshine any day .

Anyhoo, I hope the Pelahatchieians (or would the be Pelahatchites) get it together.

When you get a job on a lie ,{ didn't live in the city}, and try and take vengeance on the employees of the city to try and get revenge for your mother losing her job,{ where the real audit ought to be}, and you are running from all these people and its starts catching up with you then I can''t wait to see what happens next. Also she was suppose to be in court last week and was a no show. She sent her lawyer in her place. Kingfish you need to go to the court room and watch this action in June. Might not turn out to good for her. This was a good town to live in until she got in office. And this is not about race. This is about right and wrong. So I suggest you look at the facts and don't listen to her smooth talk. The real truth will come out.

Is there any legislation that allows some state entity to take over a town or city that is in a state of chaos?

Anonymous said...

A mayor has no authority to suspend anybody. Period. Kingfish needs to turn his cap around if he really thinks the blame is universal. Look for the common denominator. It's glaringly apparent.

FYI even though I think the new Mayor is a joke, the previous Mayor, Board and attorney, that’s right the attorney will be held liable for taking money out of the police seizure fund and putting it in the general fund. It is against the law to do that, only the police proceeds can be used for the police department. That is to keep the towns from seizing anything they can to go into the general fund. Based on earlier reports: Money was moved into the general fund based on an opinion from the city attorney/city accountant at that time who said it was lawful. If that is what occurred SUE the attorney/accountant for malpractice as he either didn’t look up the law or failed in researching the information which is his job. When more of these situations involve going after these parties they will take their job a little more serious instead of going thru the motions. I know, I have been to many board meetings and very few of these attorneys/accountants don’t know the law even though they have been a towns attorney for many years.

All you wagon riders haven't been paying attention. I know nothing about this mayor, but that crap this board has been pulling is disgraceful and indicates to me that the state auditor should have a full time office next door. The **** hit the fan when the mayor called out all of the private meeting shenanigans of the good old boys. Good for her. The staff has been beholden to these clowns for too long. Can't believe a single alderman can have locks changed in city hall. Does that tell you something.

A white guy not in Pelahatchie.

In a mayor - alderman form of gov in mississippi, the mayor has superintending control of all city employees and can suspend someone. The mayor and board “share” hiring and firing. Them is da facts.

Anonymous said...

9:31 You need to know your facts before you post. The mayor changed the locks and the board told her not to do it. Its public record lookout up.

Anonymous said...

Under a code charter municipality, a mayor May suspend “with pay” an employee. The bird of aldermen has the only authority to suspend “without pay”.

Anonymous said...

5:46 Incorrect. The Mayor has superintending control, that is, managing control over employees but only can suspend with pay. The Mayor cannot hire or fire anyone. Only the board can hire, fire, and suspend without pay.

Pelahatchie’s present dilemma is a prime example of what happens when the majority of the people don’t care enough to vote for their city government. This is y’all’s mess and y’all are the ones who need to clean it up.

Kingfish said...

There is a recent AG opinion that states the Mayor has control of employees but you are right about hiring and firing.

Anonymous said...

Shad White needs to do his thing with Pelahatchie.

Anonymous said...

When is the Mayor’s term completed?

Anonymous said...

What I don't understand is where is the liability for the Lawyer and auditor that was advising the town. No money is missing. Every penny can be accounted for and was spent with the approvable of these two.

Kingfish said...

Knox claims the town "borrowed" against the fund. Ok.

Here is another question. Did the board actually vote on the "borrowing" or the "transfers"?

As for how she became Mayor, blame the rules. There was no requirement for a runoff in the Mayoral election. She thus won with a plurality. There were two other candidates and neither dropped out.

Anonymous said...

There is no liability on the part of the town attorney where the town attorney is never consulted about questionable transactions.

Anonymous said...

8:19. I am not incorrect. I simply said the mayor CAN suspend. I never mentioned pay. I am speaking from experience, not spewing what I think I know.

Anonymous said...

6:05. It is a disaster but you can not leave the board out of the blame. They have been horribly petty at best. You can come back with how the Mayor has been but two wrongs does not make a right. The board has done nothing to make it better but pick up mud and start slinging it with the mayor.

Anonymous said...

Ok she is supposedly an accountant. One of the first formulas you learn in accounting is “Assets=Liabilities + Equity. For the life of me please tell me one thing she owns outright no strings attached. And the jeopardy song is playing. I guess her accounting skills are why she is a high risk bond. Just who we need trying to run the town.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
