The Mississippi House of Representatives issued the following press release.
On Friday, December 8, Representative John Moore
(R-Rankin) announced his retirement from public office after 22 years of
service in the Mississippi House of Representatives.
“Earlier this
year I had a major health issue that caused me to rethink my ability to
continue serving the people of Mississippi in this important position,”
said Moore in his letter of resignation.
Moore
currently serves as Chairman of the House Education Committee. He also
serves as a member of the House Committees on Appropriations, Insurance,
Judiciary B, Legislative Budget, Rules and Transportation.
“I
want to take this opportunity to thank the people of District 60 in
Rankin County for allowing me to represent you for the last 22 years,”
said Moore. “I also want to thank my colleagues in the Mississippi
House and Senate and all those who I have had an opportunity to work
with over the years. It has been the greatest honor of my life”

Wow! I hear him on Gallo frequently. Thank you for your service.
Wonder if this has anything to do with the Speaker's school funding bill in regard to education funding? Some school district would get more and some less!
Special election, WHO CARES. why is this insignificant nobody retiring?
7:10. Search your heart. Why would you post something like you just did? Why? Kingfish. Are you happy being a purveyor of ugly? On and on. Ugly.
7:59. Surely you can't be that naive. He is quite challenged. Mentally and emotionally.
Sniff, sniff. Something about this smells suspicious. Press release late on Friday means you don’t want the publicity to linger.
Y'all pusillanimous idgets running down a man who's contributed much of his life to the betterment of Mississippi stink.
Rep. Moore: great job and thank you for your faithful public service.
7:59 - I'm sure I'm not the only one baffled by your post.
John Moore has done an outstanding job of representing District 60 for the past 22 years.
Thank you for your service John.
7:10, Your comment brings to mind a question, “Why are there so many more horsesasses than there are horses?”
4:20 I am sure I am not the only one baffled by someone that posts at 4:20 in the morning. Get a life.
@7:59. Kingfish simply posted a news release. What's YOUR problem.
8:14 - If you had my schedule, you'd understand. Otherwise, ain't nunna your damned business what time somebody posts.
Moore’s retirement is bad news for Tico’s.
625. As another "night walker" I'd only offer that 814 probably thinks everyone is a "day walker" and shares their singular worldview. After all, surely you know that electric power grids, water wells and grocery store restocking all happen magically.
So, of course they are probably baffled.
What type of PERS benefits are available to legislators with 22 years of service?
What is the minimum time required for a state Rep. to receive PERS benefits?
Tico’s in serious trouble now. But, the replacement will surely learn quickly how to live on the lobbyist tit. Hopefully for Tico’s benefit, the replacement doesn’t favor Shapley’s.
Shapley's is an 'in and out' restaurant. Their goal is to move you in and move you out and 're-rent' the tables. Tico's is a bit more leisurely and caters to drinkers and those having extended conversations.
On the other hand, Delbert uses a Taco Bell in Pearl and Denny's across the Rez in Niknar. Gallo prefers the Bloomin' Onions and you know where those can be found. J.T. never gets wined and dined but appears to be connected to a feed bag on a regular basis.
One might wonder if Moore knows something we don't.....like perhaps the intense scrutiny the Department of Education is going to be getting in the not to distant future from the State Auditor and U.S. Attorneys, and possible other Federal questions. What questions you might ask? Like, how many students are not attending DOZENS of classes, yet being given just a few days worth of "make-up" or "alternative" assignments to qualify for WEEKS of absences.....this is a regular occurrence throughout the state. Higher education? Same thing. Heads will eventually roll.....and poor John Moore knows his heart isn't going to be able to take being questioned by the Washington D.C. Inspector General and Department of Justice. Oversight is coming, and it ain't going to be pretty.....you'll probably see lots of unexpected education related retirements in the coming months. All the rats will be jumping ship.....after they've eaten as much of the government cheese their fat guts can hold.
8:27... that's not it at all.Just wait and be surprised. If not surprised perhaps disgusted.
8:27 - I'm trying hard to associate the value of your comments to the fact that Moore is retiring, but I can't make the stretch. Even if your hypothesis is accurate, what the hell has it got to do with his retirement? The veiled suggestion has been made that his retirement is some sort of hyper-secret plan or veiled accusation as to his activities. If you or anybody else has evidence of that, either shit or get off the pot. Otherwise, it's nothing more than an ordinary, every-day state employee retirement.
Either it's an "ordinary" retirement....or pf course, there's a further story (ie.with evidence) to come regarding the real reason(s). Isn't reading what's news in Mississippi fun? You're always reading and waiting for the punchline of the truth which very few in-state journalists are willing to dig for.
Here's the wrinkle:

First domino to fall?
And for everyone who thought there was more to this story, you need only look as far as Mississippi Today. Now, maybe they will dig a little deeper into Steve Holland.
Well....for the guy who made the 'shit or get off the pot comment', please see front page of today's Clarion Ledger. The guy is pecker-deep in sexual harassment charges.
Oh....wait. He says there's been a misunderstanding and he's gonna get with the Speaker about it.
