Local community activist Gilbert Sturgis will slug it out with Charles Evers and WMPR today in front of Hinds County Chancellor Dewayne Thomas at 1:30. Mr. Sturgis asks the court to order WMPR to allow Mr. Sturgis to resume his weekly radio show on Thursday nights. The station allegedly banned him from appearing on the station after a confrontation between Mr. Sturgis and Jackson City Council President DeKeither Stamps took place on-air during the August 28 show.
This correspondent actually listened to the entire radio show that night and confirm that some type of throw-down indeed took place. Mr. Sturgis slammed Councilman Melvin Priester, Jr. as he accused him (falsely as it turned out as Mr. Priester bought a home more than a year ago) of living at home with his parents and questioned how he could manage a city budget when he couldn't manage his own. He then skewered Mr. Priester some more and moved onto Mr. Stamps. He said Mr. Stamps lied about his military record.
Mr. Stamps' ears were apparently on fire as at 7:30 PM he showed up at the radio station and entered the broadcast booth. He berated Mr. Sturgis on the air and yelled "here is my DD214". The two then argued rather loudly and vehemently on the air for a few more minutes before Mr. Stamps left. Mr. Sturgis said on the air and later told this correspondent that Mr. Stamps busted open the door and forcibly took the mike away from Mr. Sturgis. It is not known if Mr. Stamps wore a purple shirt. Needless to say, Mr. Sturgis has appeared on WMPR since that evening.
*This correspondent has appeared on his radio show.
**I think I have a copy of the show on my phone. The problem is I used the Tunein Radio app pro version to record it. It uses a .tir extension and I am unable to convert to a mp3 or wmv file nor will it open on my phone. If anyone wishes to have a crack at it, I will email it to him. Kingfish1935@gmail.com.

I do not think the petitioner has shown good cause to take a TRO order ex parte without service of the request for an injunction on the other side, if that's what he is asking for. I would deny the TRO relief for that reason if I were the Judge.
None of that really matters except what is in the contract between the two parties. As a side note, Charles Evers could run this state about as good as anybody else.
12:21 Are you being serious with that jibberish? Mississippi is an at-will state. If this fool works for Charles Evers and embarrasses him or brings his station into disrepute, harming him financially, he can be fired on the spot. If the fool pays for airtime, and desroys the reputation of the station, harming Evers financially, I'm sure he can invoke some "moral turpitude" clause and suspend him/cancel the show.
Obviously I did not read the "lawyer porn" KF so kindly provided, just the English-language summary.
Since no white folk are involved in this dispute and the jurdge will also be a black person they may have to rely strictly on the law, which will require some serious research.
Not that I give a shit, but you can look for a protest to be filed with the FEDS when licensing renewal rolls arount. That too will be interesting.
Er, Judge Thomas is white.
The Fact show back on !!!!! Listen to it at 7pm on Thursday
