Call it the Chokwe Lumumba dress code. This little picture was taken yesterday at the work session of the Board of Commissioners for the Jackson Municipal Airport Authority.
Everyone in the room is wearing suits. Business attire. Representatives of the search firm retained to find a new CEO are present. What does Commissioner Reverend Stallworth (Lumumba appointee) wear? Warmups. Apologies for the poor picture quality as one shot was not focused.

Perhaps he is completing a Rocky Balboa-style training session to condition himself to the the best damn airport commissioner Jackson has ever seen.
Warmups are much easier to quickly doff when the need suddenly arises.
If you know what I mean.
I expected dashikis. Looks like the rest of the board members appointed by Lumumba are dressed respectably, so maybe it should be called the Stallworth dress code. Also, is Stallworth getting replaced by the airport board appointee confirmed last night?
Maybe this explains why Southwest airlines pulled out. I still believe they left because they refused to be "shaken down" by the previous administration.
Lol, that's not a sweatsuit. That's a style known as a "tailor-made," which is a button down shirt and pants made out of casual fabric, usually polyester imitation silk or satin. But I agree, he should have worn a traditional suit.
But where's this week city council meeting post? I need your analysis on the Honorable Tony T. "I'm Everyday People" Yarber.
You are still talking about Lumumba and he is no longer here. Here it is Yarber is screwing up everyday and this all you have to put on your blog. Your a joke!!!
OMG! Matching white shirt and pants? Who dressed him, his grandmother? Who is he trying to emulate, the ice cream guy? Its just sad to see grown men dress like they are 9 years old. Where can one find a magazine that touts this style of attire, GQ, Esquire, Robb Report? Maybe he sent his cartoon wardrobe that the LABOOMBA people wear to the cleaners. Maybe next week he can wear that sky blue suit with matching hat and walking cane. OG- double OG- Triple OG
"PIMP IN DISTRESS"
By the way, Delta is reducing the number of gates from 3 to 2. A loss of $150,000 in annual income for the airport. They announced it yesterday.
I'm a joke? You're a joke. This was a jackassery post.
5 bucks he walked into the meeting, looked around and sai,"AH-RIGHT AH RIGHT"
No one is saying that Yarber is Winston Churchill, but Yarber has slowed the inertia of Lumumba's race to convert Jackson into third world status by December 2015.
Still on Tony's payroll huh, KF? Not one peep out of you about the City of Jackson's circus operation and you post about someone's attire? Tell me, how much did the integrity of your journalism cost?
Looks like he is there to do some painting.
Warmups for WHAT? Certainly not any athletic endeavor. Maybe a ribs-eatin' contest?
You shouldn't wear white after Labor Day. I am distressed about our airport (and it is OUR airport; don't care if you are Jacksonian or suburbanite.) We have lost Southwest and I believe with the right diplomacy we could have at least saved some flights/week. Did not know about Delta -- they have wanted to leave us before. Someone sure does have it in for Yarber with no specifics. Must have been turned down for a job or replaced by a new person or something. Sounds like sour grapes to me. No one can say we are not doing better right now than we have since before Frankie!! Oh, just a thought, maybe whoever keeps trying to "dig their claws in" is planning to run against Yarber. If they are referring to the budget, at least Yarber is not refinancing anything that I've heard of.
The Zinn is strong with 12:01.
Hey, Mr Breaking News
Why not talk about the stealing JRA has done and is doing? You wouldn't dare write or post the raping done by your peeps?
most defiantly natures comedians !!!! they dress to make people laugh.. it works!!
I'm so confused...
Two days ago you posted about Delta making huge gains in passengers. Now today they are giving up a gate. What gives? How many seats do they have to sell in order to see Jackson as a profitable market? Would airlines prefer to only fly between the 20 largest cities in the country? Why bother with the rest of the USA?
I'm feeling very frustrated.
'Members of the search firm...' are there, you say. Well, in that case.
But, it's OK brother-man. They're also African American. If your camera caught any white folk, I failed to notice.
pittpanther- I totally agree. Their passengers are going through the roof, so they decide to give up a gate? i suppose since we can only fly to atlanta on them- they can rotate between two. one would think that they would give us a flight or two to another hub like laguardia NYC, or detroit
as our rates in jackson go higher and higher, fewer and fewer will fly---leading to a slow decline until we only have two carriers--delta and united (most likely). big markets have big business that can pay for first and business class travel. in the grand scheme of things Mississippi is small potatoes. we dont have billion dollar corporations based here.
Mr. Vanderleest told me that passengers would not notice a difference, it would affect the airport balance sheet but not travelers. Its an efficiency thing.
Having owed airplanes in Jackson and fly commercially regularly, I want to ask the question. How many on this board have owned or flown an airplane? What is the qualifications that put you on the board to oversee the two Jackson airports. What airports other than boarding and departing on a commercial airplane have you visited and looked at how the airports were run. What did you learn from cities that have an active good policy that encourages aviation? What cities did you study?
I have dealt with Mr. Vanderleest before and found that his attitude has held the city airports back for years. The neglect of Hawkins field and the ridiculous requirements of FBO's (fixed base operators) has run private aviation to Raymond and Madison Airports. For instance there has not been a new hangar built at either airports in Jackson in over 20 years. Why? Stupid requirements. Does the Board even know that? Why run business people off when they want to build a hangar to have offices and space in a private hangar. Look at Peachtree DeKalb airport in Atlanta. Lots of private hangars. Lexington KY , same. Many other cities have a realist program to encourage air travel by either commercial or private. Not Jackson. Vanderleest is a hindrance and putting people on the airport board that know nothing of setting up a successful program to help aviation.
I agree with the previous posters. KF's coverage on the Jackson and Madison airports seem to indicate a shift from source of news to personal blog. I don't know who pissed him off at the Jackson airport, but it seems personal.
Why are we hearing about Chester the Molester's fashion choices and not a peep about the JRA/Watkins/Goree debacle. We're getting updates on airport business, but nothing on our Board of Supervisors or City Councils. I guess we get what we pay for, so I can't complain too much.
Looks like I stepped on some precious toes here.
1. I requested copies of the HUD letters.
2. Stallworth looked like a clown in that outfit. I've made similar posts before about other people.
3. So are you saying we shouldn't cover the JMAA? Like I wrote earlier, we got blindsided by Southwest. When I looked through the minutes, I realized we should have known about it but because no one pays attention to the airport, we didn't.
4. Frankly, everyone is covering JRA. MBJ, Clarion-Ledger, JFP, I've asked for the HUD letter but dont' see much this site can contribute to the discussion that has not already been done by other media in town.
Usually when people make a post such as yours, it is because they are trying to hide something.
To the guy who says he's 'owed airplanes and fly commercially', NEWSFLASH: Vanderleest does not appoint these people. So, while he may be an obstacle, you need to direct your ire at Jackson's finest....the mayor and city council of Jacktown.
The JRA/Watkins/Goree Woody needs to give it a rest. If you don't like the fare then shove off. Stop being such a whiny piss ant.
Regardless of what the airport commission is or is not, or who does it, the Jackson airport is hard to fly out of and at a greater expense. Delta was a great airline, but now they only fly east to Atlanta for most connections. So if you have to fly west, you pay to go to Atlanta first, than fly right back over where you just came from. So, I fly American now to Dallas since 90% of my flying goes west. Southwest never had decent connections at decent times. Our airport is a nice facility and the in/out is easy. We just need a plan to make travel out of there more convenient and cost effective.
