Rankin-Madison District Attorney Michael Guest issued the following press release:
Jackson Man Receives 35-Year
Sentence for Armed Carjacking
Madison and Rankin Counties’ District Attorney Michael
Guest announced today that Xavier Laquon Anderson was sentenced to 35 years after
pleading guilty to armed carjacking. The
last eight years of the sentence will be suspended and Anderson will be placed
on five years of supervised probation following his release from custody.
On January 6, 2014, the Ridgeland Police Department
received a 911 call regarding an armed carjacking. The car was in a parking lot off of Lake
Harbour Drive when a man approached the victim in the car and put a gun to her
head and told her to get out of the car.
She did as he instructed and the car fled the scene with another car
following closely behind.
Police
learned the stolen car was equipped with a GPS tracking device and they attempted
to locate the vehicle using the GPS system.
The Ridgeland Police Department contacted the GPS company and they were
able to pinpoint that the stolen car was located in Jackson on Rebel Wood
Drive. Law enforcement went to the scene
and found the car in the parking lot of Rebel Wood Apartments.
Police had the vehicle towed to the Ridgeland Police
Department where it was processed for evidence.
Investigators were able to lift fingerprints that were submitted to the
Mississippi State Crime Laboratory. The prints
were run through an automated fingerprint system that matched the prints to
those previously on file for Xavier Laquon Anderson. Anderson’s prints were in the system because
he had previously been arrested and was out of bond for a 2013 carjacking in
Hinds County.
Law enforcement obtained a warrant for Anderson’s arrest
and he was apprehended by members of the Jackson Police Department. Anderson was transported to the Ridgeland
Police Department where he confessed to the taking the car at gunpoint.
Guest stated, “We have said time and time again that we
are not going to allow criminals from Jackson to come into Madison County to
commit crimes. Our communities are safe
because of the hard work of the men and women of law enforcement who strive to
serve and protect. Those efforts, along
with strong sentences being handed down after convictions, will continue to
keep criminals off the streets of Madison County.”
Guest stated, “Anderson is a violent criminal who was out
on bond for armed carjacking in Jackson at the time of his arrest. The citizens of Hinds and Madison Counties can
rest easier knowing that Anderson will spend the next 27 years of his life
behind bars.”
Guest concluded, “The Ridgeland Police Department did an
outstanding job of solving this case.
They combined the use of technology along with old fashion police work to
locate the stolen vehicle and develop a suspect. They should be congratulated for taking
another violent offender off our streets.”
District Attorney Michael Guest was sworn into office in
January 2008 and represents the Twentieth Judicial District, Madison and Rankin
Counties. For more information regarding

When I was carjacked in Jackson back in the early 1990's, my vehicle was eventually found in West Jackson at some apartments. I do not believe the Jackson Police attempted to lift fingerprints, but maybe the technology has gotten better for matching prints since then. In any case, congratulations to the Ridgeland Police Department for lifting the prints and solving the case. That will be of great comfort to the victim most especially, as will be DA Guest's conviction for a term longer than the dangerous creep has been on this earth. I always wished the JPD had solved my case.
12:41 again. When I did get my car back from the JPD after my carjacking, to add insult to injury, they charged me a hefty fee to get it out of their impound lot even though I was the victim.
Congrats to Guest and others for their success! I hope this sends another loud message to the thugs in Jackson that this isn't tolerated in Madison & Rankin counties. The Jackson City Council, Mayor, and Jackson law enforcement are too busy arguing among themselves to lead the community to successes, such as this one. Keep up the good work Guest!
I like to leave my keys in the car and sit around just to see if some fool will jack it....I got this nice shiney castle law and I want to try it out!!!
Carjacking should be treated like stealing horses. Hang the mother fucker. What good does locking him up do? He probably already has half a dozen illegitimate children, just biting at the bit to follow in daddies foot steps. And then when he gets out, he'll probably have another half dozen more bastard children. ALL LIVING ON MY DAMN DOLLAR,.
No. Kill the mother fuckers. Still sends the message the DA is trying to get across.
Unlike Shuler-Smith, Guest puts them away. Stay in Jacktown bad guys!
So, the people of Madison county get to pay the bill to house and feed this thug fir 28 years or more.
Here's an idea for the next legislative session: when someone is out on bond for a violent crime (Jackson had put him out on bail for a charge of armed carjacking when he got arrested for this one right?), the cost of incarcerating the convict will be borne by the jurisdiction that allowed him out on the street in the first place. In other words, this crime would not have happened in Ridgeland if he had been in the tank in Jackson awaiting his trial there, so let Jackson pay for incarcerating him in Madison County. Why should Ridgeland/Madison County be victimized twice here because of Jackson's negligence?
Bless your heart, 2:28. The cost of housing convicted felons in the penal system is picked up by the state, not the county of conviction. I'm pretty sure that the state also pays the salaries of the DA's offices.
I just found La'Quon's picture. He's only eighteen, and has a real pretty mouth. As soon as they get a nice wig on him, and some purple lipstick (Grape Koolaid & Vaseline, ya know...), he'll look just like Ronnie (of the Ronettes).
A few months of smuggled-in estrogen to grow him some breastiz, and he'll be singin' "Be my baby to whoever pays his pimp enough Camel Lites for some 'alone time' with him." - until he's paroled, or his colon ruptures and he dies of Sepsis... whichever comes first.
Bless your heart 3:10 pretty sure the taxpayers of Madison county are also taxpayers in the State of Mississippi.
5:12, glad you identified Ronnie as 'of the Ronnetts". I thought at first of our former trial lawyer governor. But then I remembered that his interest was in toes. Or in others just happened to be found in the courthouse law libraries.
@ 7:10 PM - I think that Ronnie was turned a long time ago - and it didn't take a prison stint.
Hey, that's almost as much time as you get in Rankin County for selling crack to a crackhead. Or almost as bad a penalty as the one you get for telling someone how to get into a nursuing home. I've always said, if you need money in Rankin County, don't sell drugs -- go rob a store or steal a car.
Guest, and most of you snooty Madison people totally miss the point here. The cities and counties surrounding Jackson are impacted by Jackson. The worse Jackson gets the more spillover will occur. Ridiculous carjacking sentences aren't going to stop the criminals from crossing an arbitrary line to commit crime.
People who moved from Jackson to Madison and then talk about how bad things are in Jackson are the worst. Maybe if you all hadn't fled, Jackson would have a tax base and a chance at betterment.
Everyone in the metro area needs to be working to make Jackson better, safer, etc., instead of hiding in your gated neighborhood in your house that looks identical to your neighbor's.
5:26--AMEN.
