Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey issued the following press release:
Rankin County Sheriff Warns Citizens of Jury Duty Scam
On August 1st & 2nd the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office received three complaints of a jury duty scam.
In the
first case an individual was contacted by phone by a male suspect who
stated he was Sheriff Bryan Bailey. The suspect told the victim that she
missed jury duty and a warrant had been issued
for her arrest. He told the victim that the only way to avoid arrest
was to immediately pay the $485 fine with a “Green Dot” Visa card.
In the
second case the victim received a call from a male suspect who stated he
was with the warrants division of the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office
and he had two warrants for the victim for not
reporting for jury duty. The victim was directed to put $376 on a gift
card to pay the fines and avoid arrest. When the victim went to a store
to get the gift card, the clerk told the victim it sounded like a scam
and to contact the sheriff’s office.
In the
third case the victim received a call from a male suspect who stated he
was with the warrants division of the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office and
warrants had been issued on the victim for
failing to report for jury duty. The victim was told to pay two fines
of $376 and $385 to avoid arrest. The victim was told to put the money
on a “Green Dot” gift card and call him with the numbers on the card.
The victim sensed something wasn’t right and
contacted the sheriff’s office to report the scam.
Sheriff
Bryan Bailey wants the citizens to know that no deputy would ever call
and ask for money over the telephone. All court fines are collected by
the courts, not the sheriff. A proper receipt
is always issued to a person paying fines in Rankin County. In my 25
years of law enforcement I have never seen anyone arrested for not
reporting for jury duty.
Sheriff
Bailey wants all citizens to know that if anyone calls about any issue
and it involves a “Green Dot” card or gift card that it is a scam and to
hang up and contact the sheriff’s office
or local law enforcement immediately.

Maybe the Sheriff's Dept should talk to True the Vote and the McDilbert camp since they have these call centers ready & available who already have ample lists of contact info for gullible, uneducated people throughout Mississippi.
Otherwise, Rick Santorum's backers and Newt Gingrich, Inc will be renting these same lists soon to suck a little more change out of their pockets.
It appears that McD has tapped that keg so much that people are beginning to be wary. Time to change the wrap on the bus and take his gypsy show on to AR or AL. Bunch of stupid in those states, too.
He forgot to thank Tyrone for his assistance this time.
The first poster (above) is trying to cram too many goofy theories into a single post. At least make it three or four separate thoughts.
This website is a Democrat's dream.
It is full of Republicans that rarely criticize the Dems but constantly insult the 49% that voted for McDaniel.
Oh yeah, insult people for five months and then ask them to turn out in droves for your candidate.
These people are an incarnation of the cartoons they paint of the Tea Party.
This sounds like a Demario Walker scam.
10:45 has nailed it. Thad-Haley has pissed in his whiskey.
