Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann issued the following press release:
Voter Registration Deadline Saturday
Jackson—The deadline to register to vote in the June 3rd Primary Election is Saturday, May 3, 2014.
“Voting is a fundamental right guaranteed by our
servicemen and women every day,” says Secretary Hosemann. “There is no
reason why every eligible Mississippian should not be registered to
vote. I encourage you to take advantage of this
privilege today.”
Circuit Clerks’ offices will be open from 8:00 am-12:00 pm Saturday, May 3, 2014 to accept voter registration applications. Mail-in voter registration applications must be postmarked by Saturday, May 3, 2014 to be eligible to vote in
the June 3, 2014 Primary Election.
Eligible military and overseas voters are given an
extended registration period in Mississippi. The deadline for our
military and overseas voters to register to vote is May 24, 2014, ten days prior to the election.
Voter registration applications submitted after May 3rd will be processed by the Circuit Clerk, but the voter will not be eligible to cast a ballot in the June 3, 2014 Primary Election. State law requires voters to register
thirty (30) days prior to casting a ballot in a particular election.
Mail-in voter registration forms are available at
your local Circuit Clerk’s office. You may also download an application
from the Secretary of State’s website at
www.sos.ms.gov.
