Electrical Lineman Seriously Injured On the Job Last Week

You may have read about the Southern Pines Electric Co. lineman who was seriously injured on the job last week (electrocution).  He is in the burn unit in a Memphis hospital.  His name is Jeremy White.

He is married, and has two young children, 12 and 10.  He's had to have his right arm, parts of his chest and back, and both legs below the knees amputated.  Last I heard he is also on dialysis and has some permanent heart damage.  He is a young man with a beautiful family, who will now face a long road of hardship, pain and recovery.

There is a Facebook page "Praying for Jeremy" with updates on his recovery and treatment.  I am hoping there will be an update on how to donate to help this family with all the expenses they will have with the out of town hospital stay, travel and treatment added to the page soon.

Please keep this young family in your thoughts and prayers.

Facebook page:   https://www.facebook.com/PrayingforJeremyWhite

Please do not comment with any negativity.

Update:  I was incorrect.  He lost his left arm, not his right. I apologize for the incorrect information.  Please see the comments down below from his brother. Also, the children are 13 and 10, not 12 and 10.

Thanks for posting this, KF. I had not heard about this man's injury. And thanks to the commenter who posted the link.

Many prayers for the gentleman and his family. May God watch over them.

As horrible as this is, and I've had a relative killed in this manner, let's not take up money yet. This is workers' comp and he's a member of the electrical workers' union. All of his medical expenses are automatically paid for the rest of his life by the employer and his salary continuation program via the contract is a pretty good one. Prayers for this man's recovery and for the medical tream treating him.

6:32 The whole appeal of an insurance company like AFLAC is that they provide supplemental cash to cover expenses NOT covered by insurance. Hopefully his medical expenses will be covered - in the meantime - what's wrong with donating some cash to cover the family's Christmas dinner? Kroger doesn't take BC/BS, last I heard.

One of my close friends growing up had an SS check and a free ride through college because his father died this way. He would have much rather had his father.

This family is in need NOW, as well as the future. While our lives go on, theirs does too... This means mortgage, light bills, food, travel expenses, and so on. While he may have insurance that will kick in sooner or later, this is NOW and they need our support NOW. If you don't think its necessary to give money, please remember them in your prayers...I personally know this man. I taught him in school, taught both of his children, work with his wife, and he is Youth Minister to my grand daughter. He is a fine Christian man and I am both humbled and honored to help them with any thing that I can.

Yes, the donations are to help them with immediate needs, such as all the extra expenses with travel, food away from home for Mom and kids during the holidays to be with their Dad, and all the regular bills due for the next couple of months while everything is sorted out. There is no way all their expenses will be covered. I'm sure their children will need extra clothing and the like while they stay with others during the months ahead, also. We can't imagine the unexpected expenses they will have for a while.

Robin hit the nail on the head. Even if you can't or won't give, just PRAY. DWF, thank you for posting this.

I am Jeremy White's brother. He lost his left arm not his right arm. Also we are in the process of setting up an account for him and his family. Once we have it up and going we will post the information for anyone to make a donation if they chose. All I ask is to please wait till we have it up before making a donation. We will post the info on the "Praying for Jeremy" Facebook page once it is up. Thank you for your continued prays for my brother and his family.

I am a close family member. Thank you all for your kind words, comments, and prayers. Jeremy lost his left, not his right. The kids are 13 and 10. And the family has not set up an account for Jeremy. It is being done today. Thank you again.

I can't believe someone would encourage people NOT to give to this precious family during this horrible time due to " waiting on insurance and workman's comp" There are so many expenses for his wife and family that are not covered! Please pray for this family and donate what you can. I am a nurse and have worked in our burn unit and have seen the needs that are not covered. They are in the hospital for weeks and sometimes months.

Because our family wants to protect people from being scammed and to ensure that their donations go to where those people intend for them to go. We have not refused any help and have appreciated everything that everyone has done. But, we know that Jeremy would never want anyone to be taken advantage of. And unfortunately, there are people in today's world that do take advantage of situations like this. We are talking about online fund programs and things like that. Random people can easily set those up. Thank you again for your many thoughts and prayers. We are blown away by the support and love shown to Jeremy and his family. Words could never express our appreciation.

And NO, not ALL of his family's expenses are being covered by workman's comp. etc . Someone is delusional to even think that. Jeremy's entire family and extended family live in MS. He is and will be in TN. for months.

I was on workers comp myself at one time as I was a lineman that destroyed my ankle after a 50 Class 2 rolled over my ankle and destroyed the nerves in it. Everything is NOT covered on workers comp, especially if he is in an out of town hospital like listed above. They DO NOT pay for the family to stay there, they DO NOT pay for gas for the family to travel there to even see him. Now yes all his medical expenses should be covered. But that does NOT mean all of his family is taken care of. I'd imagine those kids are in school and Jeremy's wife needs help with that (that is not free either) among a ton of others things. So yes this family DOES NEED THE MONEY and no I do not know them other than the t-shirts I bought online to try and help with their cause and help try to recruit family and friends to buy them as well as us line family sticks together NO MATTER WHAT! Jeremy has a LONG ROAD ahead of him and that is if everything went A-ok from here on out. Many people don't realize the treatment, rehab, and mental anguish we go through after tough injuries. Just my ankle took me out for 3 years. Multiple surgeries and YEARS of rehab that was NOT easy.

So to the one that claims the family is taken care of because just his salary is coming in needs to get a clue. IBEW or not, insurance does NOT take care of the family. They only look out for themselves and that is a fact. Insurance companies make money, and you know how? You do the math on that one. They are not in business to give away money and take care of us. Not to mention most workers comp cases they try to find any and everything to get out from under the costs of the individuals care and in most cases will even be slimy enough to try and get the family to sign a release to get out from under it. Jeremy and his family has a long, hard road ahead of them with a lot of problems mentally and especially physically. Even with AFLAC if they have it, it still doesn't cover the cost of travel for the family and care for the children. So to the one trying to bash this family for setting things up to get care and ask for help, next time be man enough to put your name on a cowardly post like that.

Unfortunately, Jeremy White passed away this morning at 1:15 am. He fought to recover, but his injuries were too severe.

He leaves behind his wife and two children, and a large extended family and many friends.

Jeremy and Liz White have touched our family in so many ways. I hope to see him in heaven one day to thank him for caring about and teaching my kids.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
