This is now getting downright funny.
Funny, I didn't see her complaining when the opposition was placing "Tea Party" bumper stickers on Lee signs in an effort to suppress his votes a few weeks ago. It's a common trick of the Bennie Thompson crowd. Heaven forbid anyone should attempt to increase voter turnout. Oh, that's right, she doesn't want the wrong people increasing their turnout. Got it. Someone should tell the nutjob NE Jackson is only 55% white. I see more than a few black homeowners with Lee signs in NE Jackson but I digress. Now the Head starts to freak:
Let me see, Chokwe attacks NE Jackson in his ads and speeches, yet it's not ok for the residents of NE Jackson to fight back. Got it. By the way, Tom Head is lying once again. I did not take any Chokwe clips out of context. I posted each video exactly as the Lumumba campaign posted it on YouTube. Nothing was edited. If they want to complain about the videos themselves, then they need to go complain to the Lumumba campaign for its editing and posting. And by the way, while they are whining about these videos, perhaps they should look in the mirror and ask how I found out about them. I'll give you a clue: It was another campaign and it damn sure wasn't the Lee or Quinn camps. So while they spread their little false accusations on Facebook, they don't tell you it was their candidate who was spreading the videos in the first place a few weeks ago. I love the last 48 hours of a major race. It is so much fun.

I would think JL ought to want to get out the vote in Ward 2, Chockwe's home ward. After all, CHockwe only got 31% of the vote in his own ward.
And, just as an aside, there is a sign on the corner of High and State Street. I don't know what ward that is, but it seems to me that peeps of all races drive by there. Who knew that encouraging people to vote would be a bad thing.
It is the Lee camp putting up the signs. Or, at the least, Lee supporters.
Lil' Johnny Ditto himself wearing a Lee campaign shirt was putting them up in Eastover last Friday. He put the ones @ Ridgewood and Meadowbrook up at ~4 PM.
Of course the signs are in the public right-of-way. I thought they would be more precise if they read:
The future of White Jackson Depends On It
Tell the nutcases at the JFP that if you simply Google Chokwe Lumumba or plug in that name on You Tube, you get all the videos you can watch. Conspiracy....Good Lord.
One thing is for sure Kingfish. Tom Head is a loyal JJ reader.
KF, please keep up the good work in exposing Mr. Lumumba for the militant he is because JJ is the only media outlet in Jackson that is reporting all the facts about him. I am a Democrat, but it is interesting how Mr. Lee's base of support includes everybody from Tea Party Republicans to liberal Democrats. It's hard for me to see how any Jackson resident would vote for a candidate for Mayor who presently advocates creating a nation of black people out of part of the US, is "ambivalent" towards our country's flag, doesn't believe in God(or at least not Christianity), hates the police, and on and on.
This race isn't Democrat/Republican race; it's a race that will determine if Jackson has a chance to grow and thrive or whether it will rapidly decline into a city where no decent person would choose to live. If Mr. Lumumba is elected, there will be a rapid exodus of decent working people, white AND black, from Jackson.
At this point, can we just start referring to Tom Head as "the self loathing caucasian"?
Jonathan Lee self-describes himself as a "control freak"?
That's not good at all.
8:59 get a life.
Do I have this right? Jonathan Lee believes he can resolve Jackson's water, sewage and infrastructure problems without raises utility rates nor without having to use long term bonding?
That is big time naive.
It appears that Mr. Head is a head-job. I mean my next question with sincerity: Why does it matter where the signs are? Shouldn't everyone get out and vote? These signs could also apply to anyone driving by to remind them to get out and vote. And one of my friends said she saw several of them in mid-town.
She also said that some Chebacca supporters at her church thought JL new ad about church was terrible and lit a candle to pray for Jonathan's "intolerance." I think for anyone using "intolerance" in this fashion is probably an excuse to vote for the final nail in the coffin for Jackson if Chewbacca wins.
I have never seen journalists criticize a GOTV campaign nor a voting block of one candidate. Who cares where the signs are? His supporters may or may not put up signs where they want. So what?
They also air advertising and print ads where they want. They campaign toward their voters. So does the other side. It is called politics.
I echo 8:53's comments. KF - you do a great job of posting about all the relevant facts - keep it up. I'm a lifelong Jacksonian - voted for Obama in both elections - but there is NO WAY I'd vote for Chokwe. I shudder to think of what will happen to our city under a Lumumba admin.
9:10 get a clue.
8:28 you seem to imply that the white residents of Jackson are not entitled to a say in how the city is run. Well, the fact is that we are ALL residents of this city, and thus we are all EQUALLY entitled to campaign for the candidate of our choosing. I'm not sure if your comment about "the future of white Jackson" was inteneded as humor, or whether it was just a cheap shot, but the fact is that comments like that are sorry. They do NOTHING to advance the discussion of relevant issues, and, as you well know, they serve only to anger folks reading them.
Try to have some integrity.
Bravo at 9:52 and 8:53. This is not a race or political party campaign. They are equal in those departments. It is an attitude and goal setting campaign. The "Jackson Plan" is painfully self-serving and addresses no real city issues even if effective. That campaign has devolved into personal attacks just like every other campaign does.
The Lee campaign could address any 1-2 of their goals and be more effective than most of our administrations. And he brings a new energy that just might be contagious.
I'm a lifelong Jacksonian - voted for Obama in both elections - but there is NO WAY I'd vote for Chokwe.
HILARIOUS. As if you think Chokwe could possibly be worse and do more harm than the Kenyan has already done to this country. Maybe if Chokwe gets elected he can tap Donna Ladd's phone and secretly read her email and have the meter readers spy inside her backyard. Maybe if a JPD officer or two get into a shootout with some thugs Chokwe can call his Chief and tell them not to have the rest of the department respond. ROFLMAO
No rational person believes that the Jackson Free Press is news organization because it's not. It will always be simply a propaganda machine for whatever candidate or cause Donna Ladd supports. The JFP was an arm of the Johnson for Mayor campaign, like Fox News is for the Republican Party.
I wouldn't waste any more time or energy on the JFP, unless you're just doing it for entertainment purposes. It certainly is entertaining to read Ladd's drivel, sort of the other end of the spectrum from listening to some radical Right Winger talking about how the United Nations is trying to take over our country through Agenda 51(or whatever it's called).
Tom Head is right when he says the Get Out the Vote effort smells.
Chokwe told a good friend of mine point blank, "I don't like white people." If David Duke was running would an effort be wrong to Get out the Vote against Duke?
Tom Head is right, this smells and it smells very good.
Hello Kingfish: Does Ms. Ladd or Tom Head ever comment here? Just curious. Thanks,
Buck Allred.
It's just so mind boggling that with ALL the things a certain "atty." has said in the very recent past, that anyone-black, white, Latino, Asian- could vote for him. Not that Mr Lee would be a perfect mayor- but he does not to form a separatist government, hates police, or wants to get back at people who had nothing to do with the atrocity of slavery!
Donna Ladd is a total nut job. Reminding people to vote is now a "white thing"...no wonder she is the most hated bitch in town...
Not that Mr Lee would be a perfect mayor- but he does not to form a separatist government, hates police, or wants to get back at people who had nothing to do with the atrocity of slavery!
A lesser of two evils pick. What a ringing endorsement!
Tom Head's brain is as messed up as his face. I don't see how he prevents suffocation with his snout so far up Dunner K's butt.
Will Donna Ladd please identify a Jackson mayor's race on which the future of Jackson did NOT depend?
9:52 a.m., ignore 10:15 a.m. There are always going to be a couple of Soverign Citizen types who try to use the comments to delegitimize our President, whom we just re-elected by a landslide in the Electoral College and 3.5 percent in the popular vote. And 10:15 is still spewing that birther nonsense; sad.
It looks like Donna Ladd was happy to accept Jonathan Lee's advertising money. See his campaign finance report. LOL.
WOW!!! KF...I LOVE IT!!!!!! It looks like you have Jackson's THUGASS crowd on the RUN!! kippy-y-yea!!!
Tom Head is bitter because, as a black lesbian, he was passed over by the more macho, tobacco chewing bros when it came time to pick for dodgeball. Since he cannot (will not) drive, someone should pick him up to take him to the polls for the final.....it would be racist and misogenistic not to.
She says "alarmist". I ADMIT IT. I AM alarmed that a black separatist radical actually may be elected mayor. As Ross Perot said, "listen for the large sucking sound" (which he BTW was CORRECT ON REGARDING NAFTA....and why we no longer have a middle class)
Dear Donna Ladd:
In answer to your query as to whom is placing those "white alarmist" signs that mention neither race nor party nor office nor candidate...
I did it.
I am Spartacus!
I stand prepared for your PC Praetorian Guard to crucify me based upon your bitter biases and your hatred of free speech. You look at a sign imploring people to vote and all you see is racism. Further, your gut reaction is "who is behind this?" What a pathetic, petty, bitter little woman you are! If you need a scapegoat to ease your bigotry and your bloodlust, then come for me.
I am Spartacus!
And once you have punished me for my perceived sins, you and your brownshirts can march through the rest of the metro, demanding accountability from those daring to ask people to vote without a single reference to an individual, an ideology, a skin color, a religion. Continue your accusatory sweep full of sound and fury, signifying your rage, threatening to pillory anyone who dares to speak publicly in a manner you find objectionable.
I am Spartacus, and there are many more. We stand for freedom and we are stronger than you and your hatred.
Just saw those signs at Metrocenter.
Do I have this correct: A Lumumba supporter is carping about a "get out the vote" effort being focused in a more "white" area of Fondren? I don't know where to even start with that. I guess the most obvious point is that Lumumba's entire persona is defined by race and race-based movements. That said, it's beyond bizarre that one of his supporters would publicly whine about what appears to be to be a routine "get out the vote" effort.
To Donna, Tom and Douglas the Social Scientist:
The signs are in the Van Winkle area...not a "white" area by a long shot. Sound the alarm!
Think that 2:18 PM is on to something. Obama doesn't need any help being delegitimized. He's got it completely covered by himself.
"The only way Lee can win a majority of the vote is if white voters flood the precincts—and the only way to get white voters to do that is to make them panic."- Tom Head
Even if panicked by "outside agitators" from Rankin county and alarmist signs, how does a 20% minority overwhelm an 80% majority?
@Buck Allred-
Why do you ask? Is this big news in Sacramento?
I'm pretty sure I know for which candidate Gretchen will be voting.
Those RAAAAACIST white signs. But, correct me if I am wrong, aren't those JSU's away colors on those signs?
Which candidate is affiliated with JSU?
