This video is pretty funny. Attorney Mark Brand, representing the Devineys, opposed the expansion of the Faircloth landfill last week at the Hinds County Board of Supervisors. Yup, the owners of this
are complaining about eyesores. I kid you not.
Guess it didn't occur to them the same could be said about their building. Want to know how much the state has paid to use the Erector Set since July 1, 2012? $334,395. The payments are:
07/12/2012 $133,758.34
08/08/2012 $66,879.17
09/05/2012 $66,879.17
09/04/2012 $66,879.17

What's the Erector Set building?
Tax Commission building, I believe. They've been out there for 15 years now (I think) and the building leaks like a sieve. Good Ole Boy politics, ya know.
Yep - see earlier post.

I know Phillip Gunn and I genuinely like and respect him, but it is extremely hard to defend Phillip on this matter. It is hard to believe that we pay 1/10th of this rent to this for the Tax commission to occupy this $%^&$ hole.
10:03; since you offer personal testimony, perhaps you will speak with him and report back.
Unbelievable, that with as much square footage space sitting vacant ALL over Jackson and Hinds county (just for instance; the once lovely MS School for the Deaf campus that is being allowed to rot into ground- I have no idea what the status or plans for it is-if any-but it has turned into a highly visible eyesore)- that the state is paying that kind of money for what looks like a very badly converted cattle auction facility to house the STC. I kid you not!
Seriously. My job requires me to go there perhaps every other month or more. All of this time I've thought, well, at least surely Mississippi is getting a deal on this place. Right, chalk another one up for cronyism. It's a pity they couldn't have at least snagged the former Allstate processing center on Raymond Road. True, not an upgrade in location but the building and grounds were top-knotch!
