60-40 seemed to be the rule rather than the exception in statewide races. Personhood amendment went down in flames (I voted no) but the Voter ID (I voted yes) and the Eminent Domain (I voted no) initiatives were approved. Denny beat Carson by 1,000 votes. I have not checked the overall legislature so I do not know if the Republicans gained seats in the House or Senate although I predicted they would fall short in the House.
I haven't looked at precincts but it would not surprise me if Madison County carried the day for Denny. I got my butt kicked like I said I would and John Dennery lost by 400 votes. I visited precincts between 2 and 4 yesterday to check turnout as I usually do. The District has changed quite a bit even in twelve months. Republicans can count on only five strong boxes: Casey, Willie Morris, Spann, St. Phillips, the Fire Station on Lakeland Drive, and maybe a sixth, Christ United Methodist, but that is rapidly changing. Congratulations to Don Palmer and yes, Robert Graham. They went out, did what they had to do, and won. No sneaky tricks, no shenanigans. They put a team together and got the job done. I have all the respect in the world for that. Those that helped me, thank you very much. You were very much appreciated.

Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

All those unauthorized emails and calls by Graham's clowns don't fall into the shenanigan category? Graham spreading the word that republicans were lying about him to ruin his chances wasn't a shenanigan? If not, please define shenanigan.
Though he won in Ridgeland it was NE Jackson that carried the day for Denny. Carson was fully exposed as the impostor he truly is.
I think the rejection of 26 shows how out of touch Phil B. is... "Satan wins" if Prop 26 fails??? really phil? don't you know your state a little better than that? heavy words. Keep climbing that ladder, the pay grade is pretty high at the top of the sillers bldg. ask "hey, leave" barbour.
Here is what I know.
Kingfish got 6219 votes.
That is 6219 more votes than the ZERO votes DonnerKay has ever received. The high ground is yours Kingfish while the gutter runs down State St past Fondren.
I thank you Kingfish for all that you do on JJ and for having the courage to offer yourself up for office.
Jackson Jambalaya was the best damn blog bar none in Mississippi before the election and now because of this experience I know it will be better than ever.
!!! You ROCK Kingfish !!!
It was an honor to vote for you KF.
With regard to the initiatives; glad Voter ID won. I'm still in shock that we even needed to vote on this. Rather silly if you ask me.
The "personhood" initiative failed because of lack of education and communication. I've heard both sides of the story and still don't know what the ramifications would have been had it passed. I, and most of Mississippi are pro-life; however, you've got to do a better job of writing the initiative and educating the average voting (which I am).
Eminent Domain - Same as "personhood" - lack of education and bad writing of the intiative. There should be some provision in the law/initiative that the person would be paid the value based on an independent appraiser and that the property would revert back to the original owner after a certain period of time. There's just too many variables here for the common voter.
Phildo needs to do the math. A lot of people who voted for him obviously did not support Prop 26.
Maybe someone should ask him if he thinks his supporters are in league with Satan.
8:41
Phils margin of victory is a lot greater than the fat man he replaced.
Get a grip!
check the 'by precinct' returns on the hinds county site. look at 46 and 78.
A lot of people who voted for him obviously did not support Prop 26.
Obviously voters are not a herd of Johnny/Jane one-notes. Thanks for shooting down your own premise idiot.
Bryant, Reeves, Pickering, Chaney each received MORE votes than Hood while Lynn Fitch was only 3.8% south of Hood's total. Now who's popular?
This morning, National Public Radio (hardly a bastion of conservatism) stated that much of what the "No on 26" campaign stated was false.
A Planned Parenthood funded group lied?! Horrors! Next they will tell me that Bill is not faithful to Hillary.
I'm glad I got to cast my nine votes for KF yesterday - with that damn Voter ID in place I probably won't be able to do that next time ;-)
Seriously - thanks for all you do here. This is the ONLY place to get accurate, reliable information about issues and people that affect all of us (plus occasional jackassery thrown in to boot!)
KF, I'm not in your district so I couldn't vote in that election. Win or loose, please know how much we appreciate you and JJ website. You've done more good than any reporter and any publication in Mississippi. We know it takes a tremendous amount of time and dedication to do the indepth reporting you do.
Thanks from all of us in JJ nation. Now don't go retiring, we need you too much!
@9:27 I agree. Also check out precinct 35A on Hinds website. The order of the names are transposed. I wonder how the computer tallied thoses votes. Seems like the computer maybe looking at the position and added thoses numbers to Graham instead of Dennery.
I think that the voting system is so corrupt in Hinds County that I may just give up the fight...Other than voter fraud, the reason Dennery lost is because a white guy can't get elected in Hinds County no matter what kind of slug he is running against...Tyrone 'da thug is a good example.. blacks take the position that no matter how sorry "their " guy is, it is better that a white.
Don't waste your time looking at the Hinds precinct totals on the website. They are obviously not accurate.
Not sure if this is the place to post this, but what the hey. About an hour ago I was listening to Larry Nesbitt on 1180 (which I rarely do but Kilmeade was babbling). I found it hard to believe that neither Larry nor Kingfish (who apparently was there to talk about election results) were aware that the house had gone to the republicans last night. The question Larry asked was who might be the next speaker and both said they were unable to speculate as they did not know the outcome. Huh? I called the station to tell the answerer the news. Huh? again...
10:16AM You are o' so special. No really. Special is the right word. You got one over on them!
You must have just moved here 10:02. Welcome.
Based on the channel 16 footage, the crowd that assembled at Walker's looked like they came straight in from an occupy something or another rally. Hopefully they will scrub it down with clorox before reopening.
Hello, Mr. 'Fish:
Congrats on your very impressive performance last night. Just think what you will accomplish next time. Had you started a few days earlier, you would have had it in the bag. I am looking forward to your next electoral effort, whatever position it may involve. Jackson needs the type of leadership that you offer.
All the best,
Buck Allred
@ 10:02 Im about as "black" as blacks come. I didn't vote for TL or RG and know many other "blacks" who didn't. Yes some "blacks" feel that way but NOT ALL as well as some "whites" are the same but NOT ALL.
"I found it hard to believe that neither Larry nor Kingfish (who apparently was there to talk about election results) were aware that the house had gone to the republicans last night."
I haven't read that anywhere else yet.
Anon 9:14, we DIDN'T have to vote on Voter ID. The 2010 Legislature had a compromise bill in place that the leadership in both the house and the senate had agreed to -- it called for phasing in photo-ID, so it wasn't the exact same as the initiative, but it was a compromise. Among others, Terry Burton represented the Senate (and Republicans) in the negotiations and I THINK George Flaggs was one of the reps from the House (and Dems AND Legislative Black Caucus).
Anyway, at the last minute, a subcommittee chair in the Senate Elections Chair refused to bring the bill out of his subcommittee by the deadline -- I THINK it was Joey Fillingame. Turns out he and four other senators (I believe Doug Davis and Merle Flowers were part of the group) had agreed to block the compromise BECAUSE they wanted a voter ID initiative on the ballot in 2011. They wanted the initiative on the ballot to affect turnout in the 2011 general election.
Keep in mind that at the time of the death of the compromise bill, the initiative did not have enough signatures to be on the 2011 ballot.
From what I heard, Terry Burton felt stabbed in the back after doing so much work. And George Flaggs was quoted saying he never thought he'd live to see the day that voter ID would be killed by Senate Republicans.
This is a reason why I dislike the initiative process.
I saw Philip Thomas's peal of woe about the House going R, but the C-L didn't seem to find that important to report on, this morning anyway.
Kingfish, you're building your base nicely. Justice Court is important, but maybe you can seek an office with even more opportunities to help us. Bless you and John Dennery for your efforts.
Now, bless us all for our good fortune in still having the noble Kingfish shedding light on the evildoers amongst us. We'll keep the Bat Signal in good working order.
Hopefully, the absentee ballots will be enough to keep Graham from taking office again. If not, Hinds county is doomed for another four years, unless someone stands up to the Board and demands transparency. Until that happens, Graham will still remain a legend in his own mind.
Kingfish, good showing. The only redeeming value in your loss is that you will hopefully keep up the good work with this website. Now, if only the printed news media and some other outlets would take your lead and expose corruption as it is.
I was driving down Northside Dr. a minute ago and on the corner of Northside and Cedarhurst(?) nestled in the middle of all these Graham, Palmer & Moore signs was a Dennery sign..hmmmmmm..a little out of place maybe but then what I saw made me do a Bat-Turn and stop and take pictures....someone had put the words TEA PARTY REPUBLICAN across the top of one side and and the same on the other side of Dennery's sign...What made me take pause over this was a couple of weeks ago in the Kroger parking lot (I55N) there was a car with 2 stickers on the bumper..one was a obama for prez and right below it was another that read, no kidding, " MS doesn't need the tea party, we already have the clan" You know, after having been blocked from the system for so long, blacks caught up to speed in a hurry on how to steal an election!
Report on SupertalkMS that Pete Perry down on coast helping Busby. ALL absentees now counted and Busby net votes increased +2. Busby now +57 total with only affidavits left to count.
Get ready folks because Brandon Jones is about to go down!
11:03....television this morning. At least that's where I saw it. The CL couldn't have known it at print time last evening.
what kind of retaliation can white voters in Hinds county district 1 be expecting??
Special message for Dorsey Carson and Brandon Jones.
I'm just sad that Ponto Downing lost again.
what kind of retaliation can white voters in Hinds county district 1 be expecting??
What kind of retaliation could there be? Hinds County doesn't do jack shit for NEJackson already except allow a crook like Graham to drive his county car with county provided fuel on trips where he's making money for his private business. It ain't the white community getting the no-bid contracts or getting hired to shakedown companies.
The only plan the racialists who run Jackson and Hinds County have is to encourage corruption and graft while milking the NEJackson cash cow until it runs dry. Additional nothing when you are already receiving nothing only means more nothing. If Graham wants to retaliate by heaping more nothing our way then so be it. It won't be anything to us but another day with our tax teats hooked up to the milking machine.
Smackdown in Jacktown for KaziKazi.
Wait..Graham did do something for NEJackson. He gave us water and tarps during the 2008 tornado. One good deed every four should be enough.
Bryant and Dupree were both in favor of 26. " None of the above" would have won if it were an option.
What lies specifically? What evidence that Planned Parenthood mounted the opposition? Were they against it? Sure. Do they have the money or resources to mount an effort here? Give me a break.
The proponents admittted on this very blog that IUDs would be banned and saving the life of the mother, rape and incest would not be exceptions and the " morning after pill" now given rape victims would be banned.
Let me clue proponents of 26 in...for WEEKS ALL I've heard in the grocery, at lunch, over the tennis net and bridge table,at circle, and anywhere else women gather is how STUPID and DANGEROUS proposition 26 was to us and our daughters and granddaughters. Every single woman I ran into wanted to make sure I was And, did the same.
The women of Mississippi defeated 26 because we are not nearly as " submissive" and maleable and ignorant as those two male invaders into our State believed us to be!
There are still mostly Steel Magnolias in the Magnolia State !
6:43 Maybe Eddie will show up to encourage a parlay then crow of righteousness when the offer of more cheap talk gets no takers.
To : November 9, 2011 10:02 AM
We welcome you into the light.
Hinds County and Jackson were lost long ago.
Accept the loss and strategically withdraw your family to Rankin or Madison Counties.
good job again by the poll workers at Casey School,(Prec.# 33) big crowd, but they got the job done in fine fashion
Thank You
A Buck Allred sighting! Wow! Too bad you couln't have voted from Cali
