Trollfest '09
Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.
Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).
Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.
Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".
In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.
In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.
Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.
Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!
This is definitely a Beaver production.

Trollfest '07
Jackson Jambalaya is the home of Trollfest '07. Catch this great event which promises to leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Robbie Bell will perform Her two latest songs: My Best Friends are in the Media and Mama's, Don't Let Your Babies Grow up to be George Bell. Sid Salter of The Clarion-Ledger will host "Pin the Tail on the Trial Lawyer", sponsored by State Farm.
There will be a hugging booth where in exchange for your young son, Frank Melton will give you a loooong hug. Trollfest will have a dunking booth where Muhammed the terrorist will curse you to Allah as you try to hit a target that will drop him into a vat of pig grease. However, in the true spirit of Separate But Equal, Don Imus and someone from NE Jackson will also sit in the dunking booth for an equal amount of time. Tom Head will give a reading for two hours on why he can't figure out who the hell he is. Cliff Cargill will give lessons with his .80 caliber desert eagle, using Frank Melton photos as targets. Tackleberry will be on hand for an autograph session. KIM Waaaaaade will be passing out free titles and deeds to crackhouses formerly owned by The Wood Street Players.

Jimmy Houston for Madison County Sheriff! Jimmy! Jimmy! Jimmy!
Jimmy Houston he is a great guy & family man
Randy Tucker!!!!!!!
Randy Tucker!!!!!
Randy Tucker!!! Wonderful role model and admired by everyone who knows him.
Randy Tucker! Outstanding person with plenty of experience.
Definitely Chief Houston! He has a wealth of law enforcement experience that exceeds the other contenders. All of them are good guys that can probably do the job but Houston is the most qualified.
Hands down Jimmy Houston. Hell of a fisherman :)
Here's my nominee... too bad we couldn't get this fine financial wizard up on the list.
My luck to all, don't have a dog in the race!
Randy Tucker is the man for the job! He is dedicated and more than qualified!
Ridgeland is being taken over by Jackson crime, and you want Jimmy Houston???? Y'all better pick somebody with 0 tolerance.
Pearl, Richland, Byram and Clinton have been taken over by Jackson crime also. Is that Chief Houstons fault too? Good luck Chief Houston. Your creds and reputation far exceed any other. You have my family and friends votes. You helped me in a low time of my life and I continue to be thankful.
Mark! Mark! MARK!
Brad Harbour !!!!!!!
Remember that the sheriff has to be able to deal with the Board of Supervisors. A couple of these hometown candidates are good ol boy bubbas (RT, MS) with zero negotiating skills that might make a great chief for Madison county but NOT sheriff. Two totally different jobs that require different skills.
bradddddd! who cares if he can fish, they're looking for a sheriff! vote brad harbour!
Randy Tucker. Good man
Im for anyone against the intrusion of road blocks.
I'm supporting Brad Harbour. I know them all.
Randy Tucker
Brad Harbour is a nice enough and stand up guy that he would help anyone at any time, but hard nosed enough to deal with the crimes as well as the pressures of the job in the correct manner. He has also been under Trowbridge forever, knows the system and knows how to keep our County on track, on the rise, and safe.
Really Jimmy Houston. Ridgeland was one of the top departments before Jimmy took over. At this point he can't keep officers. Jimmy has killed the morale at this department and will do the same at MCSO. I hope the people of Madison will not vote him in as this department will never recover from this nor will Madison County
Brad Harbour is the best candidate for Sheriff for several reasons other than being a nice guy. Brad has been employed at the Madison County Sheriff's Office for 17 years and has seen it at it's lowest and it's highest. Brad is currently the Training Officer, an Instructor, SWAT team Commander, Vehicle Maintenance Cooridinator as well as other duties which have included speaking to and protecting our children at Madison County Schools. Randy Tucker is a very experienced Narcotics Officer who has been at the Sheriff's Office for the past 11 years most of which he has been the commander of that unit. But what else does he really have to offer? He's a great hunter! Does his hobbies really make him a great leader for an entire department that includes the Jail? No and neither does Jimmy Houston's hobbies. Jimmy Houston has definitely been Chief of Police and nobody can take that experience from him but has anyone talked to the officers that work at any of his departments about the morale that he brings? I understand that these are just my opinions but ask a few questions and you'll discover my opinions have merit.
BRAD HARBOUR FOR SHERIFF OF MADISON COUNTY!!!
Re: Jimmy Houston - how is he involved with the RPD pfficer who got fired and moved to TN after committing perjury in a criminal trial? Did Houston hire the guy?
Brad and Randy are great guys, either would make a good Sheriff. Jimmy Houston would kill this department.
Randy Tucker is definitely the best candidate for sherriff of Madison County. Very qualified and deserving of the position! He's got my vote!
Brad Harbour For Sheriff could be the best thing for Madison County!!!!!!!!
BRAD HARBOUR FOR MADISON COUNTY SHERIFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :)
If you want to know who to vote for, just go and ask anyone at MCSO and see who they are supporting. That should tell you everything you need to know!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you, Key Ramsey, campaign manager for Brad Harbour.
Tucker is a man of integrity. He has the knowledge and the experience.
Brad Harbour is the most qualified for the job. Plain and simple!!!!!!
I think I will wait and see who Sheriff Trowbridge and his department supports. That should tell us everything we need to know. Given his history I think who he supports will be based on whats best for the county and the department he's woked so hard to build. Not on politics, friendships, or the good ol'boy system. That's who will get my vote!!!
Randy Tucker!
You know, if you guys would do a little more background checking, you'd find that Randy Tucker is a HOSTAGE NEGOTIATOR for Madison County (for years now) and the others aren't. I am tired of reading "opinions" of Randy's ability to negotiate or "does he have a zero-tolerance"....I mean really, do you think that he won that position in a contest? No, he earned it because Trowbridge and those beneath him felt he was the most qualified for that position. So, to say he might not be a good decision maker discredits the current administration's ability to make sound judgment. You really want to make that argument?
While I usually post under my own name, since there's the odd off chance that my livelihood may be threatened by doing so, I'm going to regretfully post anonymously. All that to say, I'm a ten year law enforcement veteran. Titles such as "hostage negotiator" mean nothing. In order to gain such titles, policemen are sent to training sessions that last any where from four hours per day for two days, or four hours per day for a week. The training sessions (I use this term very loosely) are usually in a fun locale, and the attendees are given per diem. So what happens is that they drink away the per diem at night, drag themselves to class the next morning (or not,) and sleep through the class. This continues for the duration of the training session until they receive a cheesy certificate.
So how do you get to go to these training sessions? By being a good ol' do-boy hunting buddy.
Career law enforcement officers by and large are in no way qualified to be a county sheriff in Mississippi. The position of county sheriff in this state is largely executive, and is best filled by someone with solid business experience.
I have no dog in this hunt, nor do I know any of the candidates, but to paraphrase Dave Dennis, if they've never signed a check, they don't need to run.
If I am not mistaken, doesn't the hostage negotiator positions fall under the MADISON COUNTY SWAT TEAM which is under Brad Harbour's command. In fact If my memory serves me correct, Brad Harbour, with the approval and blessing of Sheriff Trowbridge, created the MADISON COUNTY SWAT TEAM and has commanded the team since.
And really, in my opinion as a Madison County voter, will vote on law enforcement experience, integrity of the man and who will do whats best for Madison County citizens.
That is why Brad Harbour is the best choice for Madison County Sheriff.
Let's see.... HOSTAGE NEGOTIATOR; It certainly is an important position, but if you look around the county, you will find as many as 20 of them. This is opposed to Brad Harbour, who basically created the Madison County SWAT Team from the ground up. He and eleven other deputies used their own money, time, and sometimes material that they begged and borrowed to create the team. I spent many a long hour worrying about my husband being on SWAT call-outs. Brad always took the time to let the wives know that they were okay. The team was always finishing in the top of their class when training. They even had a sniper who placed number one out of a huge class, that included trained military snipers and snipers from other countries. That, my friends, is an achievement, especially when the team went from nothing to having the honor of being asked to be on the protection detail, for the U.S. President, by the Secret Service. Brad has been a Deputy serving under a great sheriff. He was delegated many assignments that are too many to list on this page. This is not to demean Randy in any way, but the S.O. has been family for many years. I believe that Toby's wishes are for one of his "son's" to carry on his legacy. Chief Houston is also a good man, but city law enforcement is not the same as county law enforcement. These points can be debated for hours. Instead, talk to a law enforcement officer that you know, or one that lives in your neighborhood. You will likely get more accurate information. It's like the old adage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
I too believe the sheriff wants one of his "sons" to take over the department and continue the tradition of strong law enforcement. However, i don't think its going to be your "son" or "husband".
7:22 veteran LEO here, thinks Madison County will get exactly what it deserves.
I hate to disappoint you and tell you that my "husband", "son" or "father" is not, NOT running for the position. I happen to know all of the people running for sheriff and I have chosen to back Brad. I just want true facts stated and some of the comments that are being posted are not quite all true. The S.O. family believes that Randy and Brad should be the two candidates for the job. I don't think that we would go wrong either way. I just feel like after having been part of the S.O. family for 15 years, that Brad is the candidate that I will support.
7:22-Probatur intentum, et hic, tristis, probably die electum.
I don't think anyone is debating ANY officer's importance. They are all so very important and are needed so desperately. I think the comment about the HOSTAGE NEGOTIATOR was in response to an earlier comment on 1/25 from someone stating "A couple of these hometown candidates are good ol boy bubbas (RT, MS) with zero negotiating skills"...while each candidate certainly brings his own skills to the race, I believe facts speak loudly - only a couple of the candidates have what it takes (experience)to lead the Sheriff's Dept. Let's keep the focus there.
You MCSO GUY'S Jimmy need to fire all Yall ass. I'm reading this blog and can tell you all are the one's that is posting s&&t on this blog.Let me say this I work for jimmy now and don't know him personally but I know he is going to be sheriff and is the best man for the job. The only way Toby got sheriff is because of his daddy and his daddy's money let me not forget his dad liked blacks and would give them the shirt off his back unlike TOBY. You guy's check this Toby made a great sheriff and I respect him but if you all want to go on experience as a cop he doesn't have that, Toby had what they called a "Gold spoon" all his life.JIMMY IS THE BEST MAN FOR THE JOB AND AS YOU ALL CAN TELL I'M NOT GOING TO COMMENT ON THE OTHER GUY BECAUSE THE HAVE NOT PAID THEIR DUES YET!!!!!
Claiborne Frazier !
Since we are going over the cliff how about Mother Mary?
I wanted to comment back on the comment from 3:18am. Sir, (I am using that term loosely), your command of the English language is as about as rancid as your decorum in this discussion. I have made several of the comments on this blog (before your enlightening post), and do not work for any level of the city, state, federal or county government - I am a voter only. And, while it is certainly entertaining to hear your colorful perceptions, it appears you need keep your personal (racial?) opinions to yourself. Toby is not running in this election, so making crude comments about him is futile. Focus on the facts that help people make educated voting decisions, and while you are at it, go introduce yourself to your boss. I think it is a travesty to work for someone and not even know him personally. Have nice day.
Mother Mary? Any relation to Queen Mary, as we, her subjects, refer to her? Packing heat? The mind boggles....
Vote randy tucker for sheriff he's the best for the job
What I find is interesting is that the poll numbers sure have jumped for one candidate and the numbers that were there yesterday for the 2 front runners have declined by 40 plus votes for each. I think the poll has been messed with. I think that something is a bit suspicious. Just saying....
Nope. Not the first time its happened although its rare. Physically there is no way for me to alter the vote totals as its a widget provided by Google. My apologies but no one is trying to tamper with the poll.
I had already emailed Kingfish about the poll issue. It again has dropped in total number of votes which again altered the percentages. Unfortunately this is a software issue and not a formal election ballot. We will see the final results hopefully in August. If not then in the runoffs. Best of Luck to all but as I stated yesterday in my comment at 916 AM my choice for the best is Brad Harbour.
BRAD HARBOUR FOR SHERIFF OF MADISON COUNTY!!!
I see what you mean and it shouldn't be doing that. Sorry guys, Brad and Jimmy should be in the lead.
Stop crying Trish. Maybe you can run Ridgeland
I hope that everyone is taking notes of the childish manners taking place by supporters of other candidates by insinuating a front runners wife is trying to "run" things. Keep your inappropriate thoughts to yourself and stick to the qualifications of the candidates.
BRAD HARBOUR FOR SHERIFF OF MADISON COUNTY!!!!
Did you actually just write that?
What is up with the pole ??? Tucker was almost dead last, last night and now he is way up???? Kingfish you a Tucker man!! Lol! Just kidding, but really what is up with that? Harbours and Houstons vote have decreased.
So let me get this straight...Brad built the swat team from the ground up by having his guys go and beg/borrow equipment and gear. How's he gonna deal with Board of Supervisors when he needs funding for his department? Hold a bake sale?
Brad is a good guy but his resume has been inflated and embellished on this board. Brad Harbour for...chief. Not for sheriff.
Houston is the most qualified, with be the best financed and will win the GOP primary with help from the party.
Randy has worked closer with both Sherriff Trowbridge and Chief Belvadressi and has a better perspective of what a true leader should be. It's way more than heading a SWAT team. You have to be knowledgable about other aspects of leadership as well. Randy definitely has better personal relation skills. Anon...
Let's see....has everyone forgotten about Brad's wife's lawsuit "AGAINST" Madison County. If I recall, she cost MC about $80,000 dollars.
Isn't this about the candidate and not their spouses. Before anyone starts throwing stones at other people and their families, they need to look at their own houses. The race should be run clean and the best man will win.
But, didn't he know and obviously agree to her lawsuit? I have no idea if it was a legit lawsuit or not but your comment begs the question. I certainly hope it was a valid suit before you start a lawsuit against the hand that feeds you.
My comment has nothing to do with a lawsuit or not. Like you commented you don't know about it. I think if someone is going to start talking about something in that nature and try and bring up dirt, then someone needs to get all the facts before they start putting things on here. The question on here is who is the best candidate, not their spouses. Unfortunately in politics, EVERY thing comes out. Some good, some bad. EVERY candidate and their families in this election will be looked at under a microscope. Unfortunately, thats they way politic are. Like I said before, no one should be casting stones at anyone or anyones family members. Hopefully this campaign won't get ugly and nasty and should be done with integrity. I personally would rather vote for someone that has integrity than people that are going to try and drag people through the mud and their families. All candidates have great qualification and will all probably do a great job, whoever wins. The best man, whoever that will be, will win and do what is best for Madison County.

Sounds like KF needs to do a search of the MC records...hmmm.
This is for the guy who claims to "work" for Jimmy Houston. If in fact you DO work for Rdgeland PD you'd know that MCSO runs 3 shifts. Each shift has a Lieutenant ie: shift supervisor, a master sargent and a sargent. Of the 3 shift supervisors 2 of them are black men. Both very capable and well trained officers.
Your racial comments have no basis here.
whats this about a lawsuit and $80,000 dollars won? Please enlighten Kingfish.
Must have hit a nerve on that suit comment.
Didn't know that it was already settled.
I always tell my dog, "Do not bite the hand that feeds you." Unless of course you commit felony animal cruelty as is clearly defined under the proposed legislation, so, I can't wait to see the papers.
Surprised that those involved challenged this site to investigate. That is like throwing meat into a ring of lions.
Here is a telltale sign about Jimmy Houston. A good number of his officer have left Ridgeland and work for MCSO, his turnover rate is high, and he is against DUI arrests, depending on who it is. Ask some officers who have stopped a certain former MS Supreme Court Judge for DUI multiple times and been told to take him home, and that same judge who is now an attorney was given priveleged information and access to the videotapes that got that former DUI officer in trouble. (Boy is there more to that story.) His son is no longer employed by MCSO (infer what you will) and several of his officers continue to try and get hired on at the SO. For all those thinking he is so great, check his turnover stats. Also, if Houston does get the job, see how few people stay to work for him. Whoever runs the MCSO needs to be from within that can maintain the integrity that Trowbridge worked to establish.
5:39 can you spell shill?
10:15--do you know the definition of the word "shill", and its application to my post? I speak from personal experience about my post, how about you?
A little late, but Jimmy Houston for Sheriff of Madison County! I would like to make one comment to the person that continues to use family in reference to the sheriff's office. This is a very serious job and should be taken seriously, my family is who I come home to every night, This just proves that a change is needed. I've been in law enforcement for a long time. There is a big difference in working well with law enforcement, and considering the job and work as family.
See the problem with law enforcement considering each other as family is that we as police officer tend to get spoiled. This is dangerous for the public and other law enforcement officers.
Lets address this situation objectively. Neither Brad Harbor nor Randy Tucker have any administrative experience. The Sheriff must be able to maintain fiscal and administrative order within his department and the Madison County Detention Center. Sheriff Trowbridge hasn't been able to accomplish that mainly because he was less qualified when he took office than the men mentioned below.
For those who want a misspent budget, enjoy road blocks, egotistical militant deputies who participate in contests to see who can achieve medals for writing frivolous DUI's and traffic tickets: Vote for Tucker, Sandridge or Harbour.
For those who value administrative experience and fair-treatment: Vote Jimmy Houston.
1:19 you are obviously for Jimmy Houston, so I'm not going to try and change your mind. For the rest of JJ's readers, I would say that almost anyone is better than Jimmy Houston. This is a man who condoned officers like Daniel Soto fabricating evidence to make more DUI arrests. How many more Daniel Sotos are there in the Ridgeland Police Dept that we never heard about? Jimmy Houston either looks the wrong way in the face of wrongdoing in his own department, or he doesn't have a good grip on it. Either answer is not good.
1:55,
Could you please re-post you comment with either a public record citation or a news article link which stipulates to the Soto controversy?
Was Jimmy Houston every sanctioned, reprimanded or removed from his position because of this?
Well, I've heard the opposite: first it was Jimmy Houston not being far to certain Police Officers, and wanting to reprimanded officers for small infractions, second as stated above he overlooks officers wrong doings. Look we are talking about a very important position in this county. This is Mud slinging
Jimmy Houston has the experience to run Madison County Sheriff's Department. August 2nd Madison County Citizens will elect the best man for the job, and that is Jimmy Houston.
