You voted Kenneth Stokes the worst politician in the Jackson metro area last week. However, the vote was so lopsided, JJ reran the poll without Mr. Stoke's name to see who the true runner-up would be. Once again, not even close: Jackson City Councilman Chokwe Lamumba. After him came Madison County Supervisor Tim Johnson, then Attorney General Jim Hood.
Haley Barbour | 17 (3%) |
Harvey Johnson | 30 (5%) |
Jim Hood | 63 (12%) |
Robert Graham | 5 (0%) |
Karl Banks | 1 (0%) |
Doung Anderson | 7 (1%) |
Mac | 14 (2%) |
Toby Trowbridge | 5 (0%) |
Stacy Pickering | 7 (1%) |
Tim Johnson | 82 (16%) |
Gary Rhodes | 8 (1%) |
Mary Hawkins-Butler | 41 (8%) |
Phil Bryant | 17 (3%) |
Chokwe Lamumba | 158 (30%) |
Michael Guest | 4 (0%) |
William Truly | 14 (2%) |
Ed Blackmon | 24 (4%) |
Robert Smith (D.A.) | 5 (0%) |
Gene McGee | 9 (1%) |

This is beginning to look like RAAAAACISM.
My favorite part?
And the answer is "Doung Anderson."
"What is brown and sounds like a bell, Alex."
Wasn't Sheriff McMillin's name in the last poll? If so, why was he excluded this time?
Lumumba is going to run for Jackson mayor.
I forgot, 10:06. My fault.
I think this shows that your readers are mainly White Republicans....
You should poll politicians on their effectiveness for the community...Stokes is not a bad politician...to the contrary...he's a genius...he's been elected for over 20 years...and his ward is one if the worst in the city, state, and nation....
Anon 4:14, I'll be the first to defend Kenny. I said on the last poll that there is one thing that you can say about Kenny and that is that he is too stupid to be corrupt.
By the way, his method of campaigning is very simple, kiss up to the church ladies in his area. It works swimmingly.
4:14 : Define "effectiveness for the community". Kenny's ward was a toilet when he first ran, and after who knows how many years under his leadership, it's still a toilet. Bennie Thompson's consituents are just as dumb to not realize absolutely nothing has gotten better with him in office.
Anon 2:19, there are some of us that do not look for our elected officials to improve our lives. Of course, I understand your point.
Keep in mind that in our current state of political stupidity, Kenny is KING! At least he is not a thieving criminal though, so that is something.
Yeah, it's looking like your readers think being Black is worse than enriching yourself in office or wasting taxpayer money or helping one's financial backers avoid the legal consequences of their actions.
Lumumba hasn't been in a position to DO much of anything.
I guess being a white Republican is a license to steal as your base is well programmed to overlook anything you do. Demonizing has worked!
Lamumba probably got it because of his rhetoric although you are right, he really hasn't done anything and he wasn't who I voted for.
Anon 9:03, Democrats get indicted eight to one more than Republicans.
MUST BE RACISM!!!
And if they are going to be racist in their choosings, at least pick Banks or Blackmon, they are much worse.
