State Auditor Shad White issued the following statement regarding former MDOC Commissioner Pelecia Hall.
Today, State Auditor Shad White announced that former Commissioner of the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC), Pelicia Hall, has received a civil demand after causing a principal loss of $142,532.73.
Section 96 of the Mississippi Constitution prohibits the payment of extra compensation in excess of the approved salary or hourly rate for a particular employee in the absence of an official policy.
Between August 2017 and February 2020, Hall initiated and received six “comp” time buyouts totaling $115,116.00, none of which she was eligible to receive. Hall was compensated for 1,810 hours despite being ineligible to receive a cash payout for that time.
“It’s vitally important that government officials know where they can and cannot spend taxpayer dollars,” said State Auditor Shad White. “I’m grateful for our investigators’ abilities and patience to get these tax dollars back where they belong.”
Suspected fraud can be reported to the Auditor’s office at any time by clicking the red button at www.osa.ms.gov or calling 1-(800)-321-1275 during normal business hours.
Kingfish note: About time. She was a walking screw-up, one of Marshall Fisher's special people. Special needs people actually.

She may have to take out a 2nd mortgage on her Lake Caroline home. Tsk, tsk.
She couldn't help it. It's the cool tour.
Bye Pelicia!
Tip of the iceberg as regards state employees and overtime.

Good. Glad to read this. Thank you, Shad.
Is there no statute of limitation issue?
😂 Is this not the same thing that happened in the Richland Mayor Pat Sullivan case? He paid himself vacation time and walked out of my former divorce attorney’s courtroom with a mistrial, while Attorney General Lynn Fitch’s legal team was supposed to be representing the state. Why didn’t Shad go bust up the good ole boys’ club in stankin Rankin County?
Is she going to face any legal issue resulting in possible jail, or is this just a pay or stay threat.
Did they ever collect $109,000 from Commissioner Fisher? Wait, wrong complexion.....nevermind.
Apparently the SOL doesn’t run against the state so no SOL issue
Does this apply to police chief, Mayor Horhn?
Wrong complexion lady...you can't do what they do !
What is amusing is that she is the Chief Regulatory Officer for ViaPath Technologies that is some sort of prison technology company.
Governor Bryant appointed her in March 2017 and stepped down at the end of Bryants tenure. Who approved the payments? Did she approve the payments and pay herself? Just like the MDHS mess, it goes thru a process. Who is guarding the hen house? No one says a damn thang!
