As we approach the 25th anniversary of 9/11 we need to remember that 100 million Americans can’t remember 9/11 as a live event. I don’t remember Pearl Harbor as a live event. Before 9/11, Pearl Harbor was as close as Americans had come to being attacked by a foreign enemy on our own soil.
I have no living memories of WWII, but I have a lot of memories of stories about WWII. My dad was a Naval Aviator, a term I learned early in my education about the big war. I played “aviator” wearing my dad’s flying cap and earphones. In the 1950s and early 60s at least one of the three television stations we could receive would have a TV show or movie about fighting in WWII. Watching on TV was almost as good as being there for a kid.
In the 25 years since 9/11 we’ve lived through a bonanza of media and technology that have blown our imaginations and completely overwhelmed what little we know about 7th century primitive cultures and religions as well as geography. What do those who’ve grown up in America since 9/11 know about Islam? Do they know anything about the Crusades, who was fighting whom and why? Do they know about the Barbary Wars? Do they know about more than three centuries of Barbary pirates capturing and selling white Europeans in North Africa? No, but they can set up Wi-Fi and digital gadgets quicker than an adult can text “IIWII.”
9/11 was an Islamic terrorist attack perpetrated by19 terrorists who highjacked four commercial passenger aircrafts and flew them into the Twin Towers in New York City and the Pentagon, and the fourth crashed in a field in Pennsylvania after passengers overcame the hijackers. These suicide attacks killed 2,977 people and injured thousands more. The September 11, 2001, attack has been memorialized as 9/11.
This year’s commemoration of the attack has become embroiled in the midterm elections by Muslim candidates who have chosen to opine about 9/11. Some of these candidates and their supporters have also made antisemitic smears about Jewish communities and Israel. As far as I know neither 9/11 nor antisemitism play any roles as political issues.
Some enemies are forever. We have seen protests against the nation of Israel on college campuses and other venues for alleged abuses against some of their citizens. Think of Old Testament times when Israeli heroes like Samson and King David won battles against Philistines.
But did you know about Muslims’ alliance with Nazis in WWII. According to an article in Wikipedia, “The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, Haj Amin al-Husseini met with Adolf Hitler on November 28, 1941, where he expressed support for Nazi Germany and proposed collaboration against their common enemies, including the British and Jews.” An official German record of the meeting can be found at “Documents on German Foreign Policy 1918-1945, Series D, Vol SIII, London, 1964.”
This year’s midterm elections have somehow become part of a long history of enmity between Muslims and Jews. According to USA Today, “A petition with more than 65,000 signatures urges NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani not to attend this year’s 25thanniversary 9/11memorial.”
The 25th anniversary of 9/11 memorial is much bigger than a mayor or a college protest by students who were not taught history.

Mamdani is an Islamist commie pinko.
only 1 comment on mr gardners post. ........that alone proves his point.
RIP Capt. Patrick Dunn USN
Please attempt to know the definitions of the terms some of you throw around. You mix up religions and economic systems and forms of government as if they are all the same. It makes you look stupid. Mamdami is Shia not Shite and his wife, like JD Vance's wife is Hindu. Just as Christians are not all alike, neither are Muslims. Then there are Mormons. God knows we have been cursed with too many Christian Cults in this country. Capitalism isn't a form of government or a religious system, it's an economic system as is socialism and communism. And, terrorists who want all people to be afraid are frankly, just psychopaths with so many bizarre notions that we really should be building more insane asylums. People who need to hurl insults are insecure and usually not well educated. And, remember, in this country we have freedom of religion for a very good reason and
Puritans can't hang witches anymore.
Pearl Harbor wasn’t our first attack on native soil. Pancho Villa crossed with his troops near Terlingua, Texas and raised hell.
We are the UNITED STATES. We don't tell NYC who they can or can't elect. We brought the terrorists of 9/11 to justice and there's one more to try. We all were AMERICANS on 9/11! We've forgotten we weren't the only country where terrorist brought down a plane. Forgot Scotland? Daniel lumps together an attack by a foreign government in the same basket with 9/11 and gives terrorist religious nut cases the same status as Japan???? Someone please take Daniel to UMMC for a psychological evaluation!
So, as a Christian, I know that Jesus didn't go to war or spread hate. I also know that Catholics, Baptists, Methodists, Lutherans, Quakers, Pentecostals and Mormons don't all believe the same things.
Mamdani is a Shia, not Shite Muslim. His mother is Hindu. Our GOP vice-president JD Vance's wife is Hindu as well. Communism, fascism, Nazism ,socialism and capitalism are economic systems but all of them can risk becoming dictatorships. Democracy requires free and fair elections but can be corrupted.
Only ignorant fearmongers would throw these words around willy nilly.
Don't you mean "not Sunni Muslim?"
But Mamdani is still an Islamist commie pinko with a little Marxism on the side.
All of these bleeding-heart, high-horse libtards and Neo-com RINO traitors ignore the fact that this nation has been in constant decline since we took on the false morality of universal suffrage and tolerance. False morals that were entirely unknown until Proto-Marxist anarchists and feminazis co-opted the Statue of Liberty to transform it into an idol of anti-isolationism and anti-nationalism. Yes we are a nation of immigrants but we can plainly see not all immigrants are beneficial to the Republic!
Several other examples of foreign attacks on native soil 'overlooked' by D.L.:
1. The Aleutian Campaign in WW2. The Japanese attacked American forces in June of 1942, ultimately invading and occupying Attu and Kiska Islands with a force of 8,000. The Japanese held Attu and Kiska for a year.
An American force which eventually numbered over 100,000 ultimately evicted the Japanese.
American military losses during the Aleutian campaign were: 1,482 killed, 640 missing, 3,416 wounded, 225 aircraft destroyed, and 3 warships sunk.
Any complaints that this example is not applicable because Alaska was not yet a state are addressed
by the numerous additional examples of British forces on American soil in a number of states during the War of 1812:
2. British forces of more than 4000 land in Maryland in late August 1814, march more than 50 miles, defeat a substantial (but hastily assembles and poorly trained) American militia force, after which the British then seized and burned Washington DC.
Both the US Capitol and the White House were destroyed.
The British force re-embarked and then landed outside Baltimore but their attempted to seize the most important harbor in the USA failed.
The British navy also bombarded Fort McHenry, and Francis Scott Key wrote a poem about that, see also Star Spangled Banner.
There was also the British campaign to seize New Orleans and control the Mississippi River which was defeated in early 1815- President to be Andrew Jackson was the American commanding officer there.
The British also invaded New York from the North in 1814, a young American naval officer named Oliver Hazard Perry kicked the British Navy off the Great Lakes by winning the Battle of Lake Erie. This cut off their supply lines thus putting a stop this British invasion campaign which was intended to control the entire American western flank and the Upper Mississippi.
D.L.'s attempt at teaching American history has failing pretty badly for some reason.
Freedom is more important than democracy. Americans gave up too much freedom after 9/11.
9:32 am No. I accept even Mandami knows his own religious affiliation. And, I accept that some people prefer to remain ignorant and don't bother with facts, The most bizarre liars are those who will lie for a political party or politician. That's my definition of being unpatriotic!
"Mamdani is a Shia, not Shite Muslim"
Well, I'd say he can be and is both. But FWIW, I noticed what appeared to be someone whose attempted expertise exceeded their limited knowledge of the subject..
