Just make the free birthday buffet exclude crab legs, that would get rid of the non-tipping crowd.

This just proves that society is at the mercy of the bottom quintile...

I suspect going to Berry's will be a more pleasurable experience going forward as a lot of the riff raff who show up once a year will no longer come. I suspect a main reason this was discontinued is there were bottom dwellers making fake IDs to get the free meal with as good as the fake ID makers have become at making them within the last few years.

When you say "free" it always comes at a cost, and in this area, it's expensive.

I would be embarrassed to accept a free buffet meal for my birthday knowing the margins on that have got to be Slim a table of four probably does not leave them in the black, giving one away. Thanks, but no thanks I’d much rather pay tip well and leave happy.

What a dumb comment. Those who pin a dollar to their shirt belong to the crowd who will eat $42 worth of Crab Legs. Thus the reason so many 'catfish restaurants' shutter their doors. Same as with Chinese buffet restaurants.

If you provide crab legs on a buffet, you'd be wise to add an automatic 20% tip to the bill. Period.

I was wondering how long this would last. I go at least once a week and it’s embarrassing how some just pig out! I always leave at least $5.00 tip regardless

I too would would never inquire about a free meal (no matter the occasion).

And yes ... as KF said, I might also give a 100% tip to the serving staff at Berry's.

Shucks, My Birthday lands on August 2nd.

Once upon a time, about 40 years ago, I was volunteering through an alcohol and drug rehab three-quarter-way program affiliated with an organization in a nearby city. The staff assigned me to do community service for a local church that had recently distributed bags of free groceries. Because there had been some issues with the deliveries, my task was to follow up. Armed with a list of names, I went door-to-door, checking to make sure each household had received their food. At every stop, I gave the same speech: "Hi, I'm following up on the free grocery deliveries from last week. Did you receive yours?" Everyone answered normally until I reached the final address on my list. I delivered my usual line and asked if they had gotten their groceries. The resident looked at me and responded with just two words:

"No meat."

12:16 when we see things about to change that effect us, we get the word real fast! And yes, you know who we is! As Dave Chappelle would say, “ya’ll are the worst”!

Cost living and cost of doing business out of sight

12:34, It won’t change a thing. It will continue to be a miserable experience when a party of 10-15 people walk in with a birthday cake and balloons. A common occurrence at Berry’s and Mama Hamil’s. I just quit going to both.
That Buffett Catfish is also cheaper grade.
