Yes. there did end up being animals in there.. quite a few, actually and some rather large.. with their funding cut short, and the small amount of tourists that the establishment attracts leaves a lot of question of whether or not the animals are getting their best chance at life… I am hoping this reaches the right people in hopes we can push for funding / rebuilding of the zoo. A lot of cages are outdated as far as size and stimulation goes.. if that can’t be done, then possibly push for the removal of the remaining animals to a more suitable environment. Zoos are supposed to be informative and beneficial for all lives involved.. at this point they’re just animals alone in cages..

I just don't understand why the City doubles down on throwing resources at the Zoo to keep it open. This isn't a Zoo. Foolish pride is something.
It's really symbolic of anything the city of Jackson has anything to do with.
It's a pathetic zoo - I feel sorry for the animals.
How is it possible that these conditions are tolerated by the United States Department of Agriculture (which has jurisdiction over aspects of zoo operations governing animal welfare)? Where is USDA?
A portrait of Democrat leadership. A masterpiece capturing the pure essence of their stupidity, in fact. Hang it in the National Gallery as a warning to voters everywhere.
Get down to Hattiesburg, they have a good zoo down there.. Or head on to the Aquarium on the coast or keep going to the aquarium and zoon in NO.
The Zoo has nothing to do with animals. The success or failure of the Zoo represents the success or failure of African American leadership. The Zoo failing shows everyone outside of Jackson that current leadership cannot create an environment giving citizens a quality life. Jackson fails at the basics, for a number of reasons. But Jackson cannot offer amenities that make for a higher quality of life. Parks are dangerous, events are dangerous, etc. And the Zoo, a Jackson entity, is failing. The only things going well in Jackson (Lefluers Bluff area) are state run. Jackson throws good money at the Zoo because not funding the Zoo is an admission of defeat.

This place is a mostly deserted animal prison, not a zoo.

@11:01… very true, but nevermind the Zoo. When the airport gets taken away from COJ, and it will, they won’t have to admit defeat. The defeat will be seen by the entire state. Then they’ll cry rasicm. The Zoo will just be an afterthought at that point.
The city needs to close the zoo. The zoo is a luxury the city can’t afford
The zoo is an embarrassment to the city. Out of state people even notice. Jackson do the right thing for the animals and close it
The Zoo represents what is to come for the entire city.
The COJ will not close the zoo. The predominately African-American administration will not accept the embarrassment that comes with defeat. So the zoo "lives" on.
The reason the lefleurs bluff area is doing well is not because of the state. The state HAS helped and given a portion of total money to a few private citizens and foundations that lead it. Those private leaders and foundations actually have brains/balls/courage and political smarts. Many things in the state are run this way, because they have to be.
Just more proof that PETA and USDA are beyond useless and afraid of Democrats.
