The office of the Hinds County District Attorney issued the following statement.
Pursuant to a temporary appointment by Judge Winston Kidd, Brad McCullouch, who had been serving as the First Assistant District Attorney, has been appointed to serve as Attorney Pro Tempore for the Hinds County District Attorney's Office. The appointment is intended to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the office until the Governor makes an appointment in accordance with Mississippi law. As Attorney Pro Tempore, McCullouch will carry out the duties of the District Attorney to ensure the continued administration of justice throughout Hinds County.
"My immediate priority is simple: to ensure the work of this office continues without interruption,"
McCullouch said. "We will continue moving cases forward, supporting victims, working with our
law enforcement partners, and cooperating with the Federal Receiver to address ongoing
challenges at the Hinds County Detention Center."
"I am deeply humbled by the trust placed in me during this transition," McCullouch added. "I thank
God for His grace and guidance during this temporary period, and I remain committed to serving
the people of Hinds County with integrity, fairness, and professionalism."

Great pick. Brad is a stand up guy with experience and familiarity with the office.
That dude definitely looks like Hinds County lol
Doesn't live in Hinds.
I worked with Brad at the AG's Office. He's a good guy and a good attorney. I hope the Hinds County "Catch and Release Program" doesn't hinder him.
So much for the Street Committee.
Isn’t this Appointment supposed to be done by the governor? https://codes.findlaw.com/ms/title-23-elections/ms-code-sect-23-15-843/
This is sure to get the police chief's dander up.
The street committee was talking about the appointment by the Governor. Brad is very short term until Tate fills it.
This is a temporary appointment by Judge Kidd, not the actual appointment by the governor.
Hopefully Dow Yoder will get rehabilitated and then he could run for Hinds County DA! He kept the prison system going in Madison county . He put a lot of people in jail that shouldn’t have been.
Is this temporary until Tater makes his appointment?
Does Kidd have the authority to make this appointment?
Inquiring minds!
Attorney Pro Tempore, if Tate doesn't agree, he'll be replaced. Jody announced on his way out the door that Brad would be running things, not sure if that "anointment" helps him long term.
Good choice, probably will not run for office so he can provide continuity until the election is held.
Temporary appointment, made by Senior Circuit Judge in the District, pending an appointment by the Governor.
Brad step one, first step get Jody out of the Office. Why is Jody there today? In the DA’s office?
There is no authority for a circuit judge to make a "temporary appointment" of a district attorney.
