A confessed child rapist received a $14 million bond yesterday in Jackson Municipal Court.
JPD arrested Ladarius Thompson, Jr. and charged him with kidnapping, exploitation, violation of human trafficking act, and four counts of sexual battery in the rape of a 15 year-old boy. Thompson confessed to anally raping him multiple times. A JPD detective testified the defendant pimped the victim out to others.

Jackson Municipal Court Judge Jeffrey Reynolds set bond for Thompson at $2 million per charge for a total bond of $14 million. The Court forbade Thompson from having contact with any minors, including his 2 year-old son.
Naturally, Thompson is a graduate of the Hinds County Catch & Release Program. A Hinds County grand jury indicted Thompson and Isaiah Jackson in 2023 for capital murder in the death of Darryl Carr. Thompson pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact to capital murder in November 2024 and agreed to testify against Jackson.
Hinds County Circuit Judge Winston Kidd sentenced Thompson to ten years in prison but suspended the five years while giving him credit for time served in jail. Thus Thompson was free to allegedly rape and pimp. He was released in January.
MDOC must have swiftly revoked the suspended sentence because Thompson is back behind bars at the MDOC prison in Rankin County not even a day after Judge Reynolds held his initial appearance.
Kingfish note: Believe it or not, Jackson STILL has not gone to trial even though he was indicted in 2023. The case is assigned to Hinds County Circuit Judge Adrienne Wooten.

New day now with enhanced sentencing guidelines for these crimes! Pray the new legislation works out for him. Sorry it was at expense of these victims!
This is just maddening. Charged with capital murder and skates with no time served. So Hinds County.
Seems nice - not.
A great American- adding value to society each and every day!
But, but, but the restaurants, and Fondren and Belhaven and Eastover, and no traffic, and the trees, and the architecture, and, and, and ... the restaurants!
Death penalty seems a good route here. Ohhh Winston Winston Winston.....wtf were you thinkon.
Part-time alcoholic drug-money-laundering ex DA Jody Owens was busy this year having his office try murder cases from 2021. Apparently no one has the time and resources to devote to finding out how many crimes in Jackson go unprosecuted. I suspect that it is the vast majority of them.
It is time for the Legislature to set some mandatory sentencing requirements and remove the discretion judges have in sentencing repeat and violent offenders.
This is a weekly occurrence in Jackson. Sad and avoidable. No common sense and poor victims
Another horrible example of what happens when people are arrested in Hinds County. No consequences.
Now, having bashed Hinds County, and acknowledging that the perp should NEVER see the outside of a jail again. . .Consider what this child's life is going to be like after having this done to him. He will not have a normal life - his victimization will have lifelong consequences for him and those around him.
KF thank you for your work. How many criminals in jackson have had similar experiences do you think? if you had to put a number on how many caught and released criminals what would it be, and who are the judges that do it the most. we need to start putting the data together
Sadly, law enforcement sometimes has to get help from the least dangerous to make a case against the far more dangerous. They get " a deal" to cooperate and judges have no choice but to honor those deals. And, 10:38 am is right. The child will get little to no help but IF he did, he could indeed have a good life. We don't want to pay for his care or even the salaries of those qualified to help. Nevertheless, the good news is while most child abusers were indeed abused, very few abuse others and those who get help often become very successful and compassionate adults ie. 70%.
Why do we even have jails in this State?! In what I read, it often seems like the people who OUGHT to be in jail for decades are the one who are released early (time served, suspended sentence, model prisoner, we're just tired of looking at him in here, etc.), and the ones who should be in jail, but not forever, are the ones spending decades inside! Although I'd still have a problem with catch and release, regardless of the offense, at least they could restrict that program to litterers or jaywalkers or failure to pay tickets, etc. For f**** sake, this guy was indicted for CAPITAL MURDER, and he was out before the shoplifters! A judge with even pretty good sense should know that not the best of ideas!
Yes it will, and this is why these offenses should have a long mandatory sentence without the possibility of parole and with immediate castration. When paroled they should have an appropriate tattoo engraved on their forehead. While in prison they should be strapped naked over a table a few hours per day so the other cons can have their way with him.
Am I being too lenient?
A suspended sentence for accessory after the fact of a CAPITAL MURDER?! On what planet?!?!?!
Again, I say these judges must be getting kickbacks or receiving something in return for these disturbing decisions and reversals they're making. How many mothers and grandmothers, maybe even daddies, are "turnting it up" or getting freaky with it for these judges for release of their children. Make it make sense.
Ricidivism is the main culprit in the fight against crime, and it is so simple to remedy. Stop the bullshit leniency on sentencing and at the very least publicly shame the participating judges. You put away the bad ones, and maybe the next wave of derelicts gets the message.
Photos of these judges on billboards works for me.
This inbred has been watching to many pimp movies! But never watch the ending!
@11:14 - Slight adjustment to your comment. It is absolutely NOT law enforcement making deals. They could make deals all day long and the judicial system would throw back its head and laugh at them. The ONLY people able to make deals with the accused are the district attorneys prosecuting the case. And they will make deals you wouldn't believe in order to avoid going to trial and risk losing. They are focused on keeping their stats stay high and keeping their job (aren't we all?). Then come election time, they can honestly say - "I have a 98% conviction rate" while not mentioning that they accepted plea deals on all but a handful of cases during their entire tenure.
To be fair, if all cases went to trial, the backlog would be insane. And if you think the victim's family gets the deciding vote, think again. They are lucky to be kept in the loop at all. It would be great if the most heinous crimes went to trial and the truly guilty received a lengthy but just sentence. But the view from the trenches is sometimes dark. And the worst are not always the ones doing the most time. No idea how to fix it. America allegedly has the best justice system in the world. I cannot think of one better. But crimes that are brutal and violent and prey on the young and helpless should not be eligible for plea deals. Just my two cents from the mosh pit.
9:16 can people not point out what’s good in Jackson? No one is excusing the awful shit that happens but there is still a lot worth preserving and fighting for. You are making fun of the wrong crowd and you should be ashamed. Low down and sorry.
I doubt Ladarius will enjoy his time in whatever prison
he lands in ...
Perhaps once something this dark touches every voter in Jackson, they will vote for change. Doubtful but one can hope...
@11:21 AM, we have jails and prisons for the incarceration of those who must serve time for defrauding our fine banks and insurance companies.
