Sometimes playing cowboy is not a good idea as Rankin County redneck William Butler found out today.
A truck belonging to Butler's boss was stolen. However, a ping showed the vehicle was on Old Byram Road.Instead of calling the police, Butler took it upon himself to go get the vehicle. There is just one problem: Butler went to the wrong place when he tried to play Dirty Harry. A car lot with a shop was adjacent to the location pinged and that is where Butler went.
Butler went to the shop, acting all tough, and confronted owner Jeremy Bouie. Bouie is black while Butler is white. Bouie said he didn't know what Butler was talking about so the Florence man left only to return with gun in hand. Bouie shot him in the foot in what can be called a case of self-defense.
The police arrived on scene. Butler was taken to the hospital while Bouie was interviewed downtown at JPD headquarters. JPD charged Butler with trespassing and simple assault. Bouie was not charged.

Good guys win again
Justice served. Too bad Bouie had to take time off work to go downtown. Both are things he probably didn't want to do.
Niknar rednecks will, well, redneck.
Simple Assault after being shot? Shit can JPD and give it all to CPD.
Cool. But was the truck next door…or…
Brandishing a weapon is always stupid. Don’t draw to threaten. Draw to kill.
JPD is a joke criminals don’t take JPD seriously
A clever lawyer will make something out of this I promise
