You wise asses scared of your own shadow find me someone whose vehicle has been stolen from Highland Village recently. It is in Capitol PD district and there is some sort of security in the parking lot every single time I go. Not an issue anymore.

Let this be a shameless advertisement for Highland Village and Renaissance. Please make sure you are supporting these very nice shopping centers we are blessed to have, instead of shopping online. We don’t need them turning out like Metrocenter and Northpark. SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL STORES AND RESTAURANTS!

I park at Highland Village all the time. Never had a problem.

Reason is we have a low iq trash subculture problem.

I went in Dillards 2 weeks before Christmas on the lower level facing the food court around 5:00 in the evening. The smell of weed was thick in the air. A group of young blacks late teens to 20’s were using the parking lot as a playground acting like retards. I return to my truck to find a Nissan Altima parked next to me with motor running, loud music and another group smoking weed.
My question is where is Ridgeland PD and Northpark security? Ridgeland PD I thought increased their patrols around Northpark during the holidays. I saw no security or police. These kids weren’t at Northpark to shop. They were congregated across from the theater in Northpark’s parking lot and outside the food court.
This is when the shooting starts.
I took my chance. Dillards and Belk are holding on by a thread. Not sure about JC Penney. There were maybe 3 customers besides me on the lower level of Dillards December 12th at 5:00 in the evening. What does that say? I was the only white person in there. The food court and Northpark is a hangout for Hinds county thugs only and white folks refuse to go there.
And all those apartments around Northpark don’t help either.

These are mostly CoJ raised minors with no manners, no supervision, and no sense of decency or direction. When I was that age, we hung out at the mall -- usually at a pizza place after getting off work...from our jobs at the mall.

The cops not being directed to patrol is a real estate power play to move the anchor stores to the highland Colony area.

Nothing good ever happens in Jackson

Northpark Mall is not far from being an exact replica of the Jackson Mall and Metrocenter.

I was preparing a comment that was in a similar vein. This is same the behavior/culture that shut down the Jackson Mall in the 80s. Same culture/behavior that killed Metro Center in the 90s. Honestly, it has killed malls all over the USA. Malls are still popular places in Europe and Asia. Though a change in culture is killing them in Europe now too. It isn’t racist to avoid this behavior/culture.

Look around you at Renaissance and you notice “they” aren’t coming to shop but walk around and kill time. The theater was the biggest mistake ever. A place for them to socialize and lay on the grass and listen to music.
“They” take up all the handicapped parking when they aren’t handicapped.
“We” are here to admire the fountains, grab a smoothie and socialize and see the nice things that our community doesn’t offer us while plotting to destroy it and make it an urban ghetto like Northpark and Metrocenter.
Have some awareness. Pay attention to things. If you don’t they will sneak up on you. It’s already too late for Renaissance.
One long time HV tenant relocated to Renaissance when it opened because the new owners jacked her rent up to force out the small businesses.
She will tell you she is not happy with Renaissance because her long time repeat customers have to park a half mile from her store and walk. Many are elderly and can’t find parking. Apartment dwellers hog the handicapped parking and do all the shoplifting.
Renaissance has been going downhill the last 6 or 7 years.

Yeah, so what if Ruth's left. KP stays slammed every night. I drive by the theater all the time. The folks in that green space look pretty white to me. Of course, when I see one black person, I don't multiply him or her by 50 in my head.

Mall security is only inside the mall protecting the stores because stores pay the mall rent. However they don’t seem to watch the parking lot because they don’t seem to care if your car gets broken into

Of NE Jackson housewives that play tennis at CCJ or RHC all day and then go to bravo or char tuk tuk boom etc. lots of Madison tags in hv parking lot too. Ppl are ridiculous on this blog. Whole Foods put it there bc of income and demographics. My patients are always surprised to learn a lot of us at GI assoc and those at sports medicine live in fondren or ne Jackson Belhaven too. I agree with KF - I had no idea there was a mall in Madison. I do not live in Madison, but those who do should be extremely thankful that Mother Mary has their best interest at heart. You can bet the farm that there will never be a Northpark Mall in Madison as long as she is "in charge".

I mentioned Ruth’s Chris because of their decision to leave the area probably due to the controversial email that surfaced between a manager and hostess concerning a large party of a certain demographic that wanted to make a reservation and manager didn’t want them there because of their reputation for loudness, no tipping and causing chaos. WLBT as usual found another civil rights story to give Ruth’s Chris a black eye. This was years ago but an indication the decline had begun.The manager was working at another metro area restaurant after this incident.
I’m assuming he didn’t want his restaurant looking like the food court at Northpark.He saw the writing on the wall. And I don’t want my community looking like the McDowell Rd you highlighted in your video last week.

For the first time in several years, I went in Northpark Mall in early December and was pleasantly surprised. Although not 1990s level crowds, it was busy, everything was very nice and well-kept, and the few vacant spaces were tastefully decorated for Christmas. I was impressed with what the new owners have done, and kind of felt guilty for ordering so much crap from Amazon when I could be running into North Park and trying stuff on/out and leaving with it. Anyone who says NP is trashy has not been there lately, or they’re just trolls. And speaking of trolls, it’s laughable to see someone say they are afraid to go to Highland Village.

Been in Dillards quite a few times. Never had a problem. Not disputing what you saw but from what I have seen, that is not the norm at that store. Don't go into Belk's anymore because since the BK, the inventory is rather lacking. There is usually just one employee covering the entire second floor so good luck finding someone. So selection sucks and service sucks.
