Madison-Rankin County District Attorney Bubba Bramlett issued the following statement.
District Attorney Bubba Bramlett announced today that Richard Calvin Wells, 41, pled guilty in Madison County Circuit Court to two counts of prescription fraud. He received the maximum sentence allowed by law of five years to serve in the Mississippi Department of Corrections as a non-violent habitual offender meaning he will have to serve every day of his sentence without the chance for early release or parole. In the summer of 2024, MBN agents were notified by two separate Madison County pharmacies that Wells had attempted to pass multiple prescriptions that were fraudulent. Wells was never successful in obtaining any controlled substances because both pharmacists recognized they were not legitimate and immediately contacted law enforcement.Kingfish note: Wells was convicted of armed robbery and three counts of uttering a forgery in Forest County in 2010. The Madison County grand jury indicted him in September 2025 for no less than eight counts of attempting to obtain controlled substance through fraudulent means.

Doesn't he know you can get Rogaine over the counter these days?
Like many of these ex offenders they miss their buddies in prison. Wonder what’s attracting them to keep going back? The food, the sounds of the doors closing, the loud cries at night or just male companionship.
He needs drug rehab not prison
What a blessing from Madison County and Bubba! A habitual offender with prior violent crime, indicted on 8 counts but they reduced to 2 and let them run concurrent for 5yrs? Hinds even would have prob done more.
@1:33 pm You can let him live with you and your family while he undergoes treatment. Let us know how that works out. You will also be liable for anything he does.
I guess we will spend your tax dollars to put him in prison.
This is sad. He is a nice guy and does not deserve this.
To 7:05 P.M. Yeah Right 👍
@7:05 - You clearly have never had the misfortune of being in his presence for long. He is a habitual harasser of women, has cheated on his wife MULTIPLE times, sells drugs to co-workers, and is a career criminal (as evidenced by the noted prior felonies, which is why he was prosecuted as a HABITUAL OFFENDER). So glad this POS is finally behind bars again.
