A Ridgeland man will serve five years in prison after he tried to meet a minor child for sexual purposes.
Williams met who he thought was a 15 year-old boy online and went to meet him in the parking lot of Northpark Mall. Unfortunately for Williams, he was texting with the police on a messaging app. Ridgeland police arrested Mark Wayne Williams when he attempted to meet the minor and charged him with exploitation of a child in March 2024. Williams was 60 years old. A Madison County grand jury indicted Williams
in June 2024 for the same crime. The indictment states:
On, about, and between March 7, 2024 through March 9, 2024, in the county aforesaid and within the jurisdiction of this Court, did unlawfully, willfully, feloniously, and knowingly entice, induce, persuade, seduce, solicit, advise, coerce, or order a child to meet with himself or any other person for the purpose of engaging in sexually explicit conduct...
Williams pleaded guilty two months later. Madison County Circuit Judge Steve Ratcliff, III sentenced him to serve fifteen years in prison but suspended ten years of the sentence. Williams currently resides at the Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County.
Attorneys Thomas Savant and Tommy "Non-Wildfire" Rich represented the defendant.

Gross, keep him away from civilization
"Entrapment" comment in 3, 2, 1...
Thanks for the update KF. I've found it impossible to follow this case online.
This is just sad, sad. He worked for DEQ until he retired and attended FBC Jackson. Never would have thought he would be this type of guy. He must have started hanging around the wrong crowd.
Yea, he started attempting to hang out with minor boys.
Never have understood suspending 2/3 of an legally established sentence. Is that sweetener for plea bargains? This dude will be out of prison in less than two years. Now THAT'S what I call a bargain.
today: arrested for chatting with an adult cop
tomorrow: arrested for chatting with naughty chatbot
yeah pedos give us the ick. but where is the real crime here?
General population with a scarlet "P" in red Sharpie on his forehead. I'll spring for the inflatable "donut" if he survives through release.
It’s not enough
If we had common sense we would castrate him today. But then the ACLU would file litigation to block the castration and then walk across the hall and file litigation to allow an eight year old boy to be castrated because perverted adults have bullied him into thinking voluntary castration is a good idea.
"Would be" and "Entrapment" my a**, the only thing he is sorry about is getting caught. He did not only work at DEQ, he was the head of the solid waste department.
Date of birth is 1963. Photo suggests 1943.
