What, Jackson needs revitalization? That's not what Chowke bloviates. Right?
Why would the state of Mississippi’s taxpaying citizenry want the legislature to explore revitalizing Chokwe’s Radical City? Jackson is exactly how he wants it. I don’t want a single penny of my tax money to go to ANYTHING in Jakistan. Seems like our “conservative” leaders need to get their priorities straight. CHOKWE DOESNT WANT HELP. CHOKWE doesn’t NEED help. Let Jackson die just like Detroit. Only then can there be a renaisaance.
The Speaker doesn't know how to spell "Capitol". Shocking!
what a load
Good group. Impressive. But Jill Ford?
Jill Ford? Why not Grant or Sherman? They were better friends of Jackson.
Committees, just like teamwork, only without the work.

What Jackson needs is another study, with a 250 page report that will be forgotten two weeks after it is released. Yea, that's the ticket.
Hope he understands that better than he understands PERS
Honestly you can clean up JACKSON by ridding of Chokwe and PhD Omari… she’s a real special kind of stupid.
Jill and Fred...That's the ticket!
Well, that didn't last long. Jason White done gone politician. The good ole' boys got to him to "tone it down, and find some bullshit positive platform that the masses will buy without thinking too much".
Speaker Jason White announces appointments to “study Capital and Metro Revitalization.”
They need a study to tell them “it’s the CRIME stupid?”
The mafia (much smarter than Chokwe, the idiot catch and release leftist judges and the thugs that terrorize cities like Jackson) was all but eliminated so don’t believe anyone that tells you crime can’t be gotten under control enough for Jackson to thrive. New York went from “Fear City” in the 1970’s to something great so it’s been done.
But, Democrats like Chokwe won’t be elected if crime goes away and too many good people move back in to Jackson that don’t vote Democrat, will they?
The speaker did not misspell anything. The word “capitol” is only used when referring to a building. The speaker did not refer to a building in his press release.
Not one dime!
The capitol is in the capital city. Sorry, 7:31, but 5:52 is correct. It’s just another one of those quirks of the English language.
{They need a study to tell them “it’s the CRIME stupid?”}
Crime is not the problem. Crime is a symptom of the problem. No government committee will dare to dig to the root of the problem and reveal its findings.
Committee meetings=mileage, per diem, meals and lobbyists--with an opportunity for media coverage as a bonus!
I don’t understand all the hate directed toward legislators trying help out the capital city.
7:31 - I don't think the Capitol needs revitalization, but the capital definitely does.
This is good. Suck it, Jackson haters.
Fabian Nelson...swell. He owns a house in Byram in Parks Road Place across from the wife's grandfather before he died. It was in extreme disrepair for years and he wouldn't do a thing about it. We finally had to get the board of supes involved and after several meetings with them and Fabian Nelson and his attorney and most of the other homeowners in the neighborhood, he finally started fixing it up so it wouldn't look like a bomb went off in it. That's the kind of man we need to be on a committee for fixing up Jackson since he wouldn't fix up his own house unless he was threatened with legal action.
This website covered all that.
9.17 New here? This blog is 90% Madison people.
More wasted time and effort for a " feel good "
Like the "committee" that got us the "important" new DL and car tag graphics?
I hope this is a genuine and serious effort seeking results to turn our State's Capital City around. It's ripe for revitalization and an influx of young workers and new businesses - lots of homes and commercial space for reasonable prices available.
But, what comes first - the chicken or the egg (jobs or residents)?
How long will it take for the black nationalist mayor to declare that this is nothing more than an effort to make the City of Jackson less black?
Mississippi needs a capitol city a functioning government. (At this point, having any single branch that wasn't completely corrupt would be an improvement.) Mississippi doesn't need another select, blue-ribbon, committee to study the problem for months or years until we all forget that we are still paying for meetings and reports that have gone ignored - mostly because it was all nonsense or watered down to avoid offending anyone.
10:55, doubt it. But even if true, why all the hate? Why hope for failure? What’s in it for you?
@2:47 failure has already happened. Look around Jackson. Everyone is hoping for a miracle. And it could be done if not for the racist voters and politicians in Jackson MS.
Maybe they know that the mayor is about to go down, so they're gearing up to make a move when that happens? I no longer live in Jackson, but I would love to see Jackson prosper. I would love to be able to walk the downtown area at night, and stop for a drink at some swanky little bar before heading down the street for dinner. Now, if you go to the one remaining restaurant on Capitol Street (when/ if it reopens), you are having to fight off panhandlers and worrying about being robbed. However, I will say that it's a lot better since Capitol PD took over. They really just need some businesses besides daiquiri bars to reinvest- businesses that will attract people from Madison, Ridgeland, Clinton, and Brandon.
I don't see 'hate'. I see 'stupidity'. No committee can identify, much less solve, the problem.
Gibbs shouldn't be on it while Robert clamors for development money.
A 'blog' is not a 'website', Kingfish.
