It appears the Mayor is trying to throw a nice little contract for grass-cutting for his pal, Richard Bradley. Check out Item #14 on the agenda for today's meeting of the Jackson City Council.
Richard Bradley's wife, Tamika, owns the company.

Just cemeteries for 2-1/2 months??? COJ doesn't even maintain the parks, roadsides and medians.
There are two guys in the parks department currently not doing anything that could do this.
Isn't "IT support" included in this contract? Chowke's water carriers on the council will immediately approve thi$.
Shouldn't this be put out for bids?
What's to prevent paying $1million for this work?
Dang Forrest got shafted when he agreed to cut grass for free for the city of greenbow
Thank goodness I moved from Jackson to Madison several years ago. I would be furious to see what is being done with the city’s tax payments. I guess it pays being mayor and being friends and family members of the mayor.
Remind anyone of Airwave?
@11:27 two words for you Rudy! Rudy! Need to look in your own backyard before looking in other backyards.
I've said it before and I'll say it 1000 times- I could care less about this type of s**t as long as the roads are smooth, the water is clean, the garbage is picked up, and the grass is cut.
This great country was built with incredible speed and skill in an incredibly corrupt fashion. That is just how s**t gets done in the real world.
Jackson's problem is they have all of the corruption with none of the public benefits. THAT is what gets me pissed off
They already have employees on the payroll that should be doing this work and a lot more. Grass, trash on streets, tires etc.....
Who is Richard Bradley?
I work in the commercial insurance business and you can spot a shyster from a million miles away. One way is their name. If they have a vague ambiguous name, 100% they are a shyster. Case in point, PDT Logistics doing lawn maintenance. They choose these vague LLC names so that they can so a little bit of whatever is thrown at them. Key terms are logistics, enterprises, corporation as the actual business name. Not PDT Lawn Care/Maintenance. If your business name doesn't give an idea as to what you are doing, you are shady and trying to hide something. These guys are just "in business" and they are in the business of just doing whatever.
Why is the Solid Waste Division maintaining the cemeteries?
'
Has this always been so, or is this yet another of the current mayor's 'innovations' in govenmental efficency and excellence?
@11:54. Exactly. This was going on during Danks' tenure and all of the mayors before him, but at least Jackson was a nice place back then!! I don't care what you do, as long as you take care of the city and its people!
Surely the Mair intended to have his attorney carve out the portions of Greenwood Cemetery which are the final resting places for Confederate dead. Will be interesting to see if those portions of the cemetery are included.

@11:54 You are absolutely right. If Jackson politicians had made sure that city services were being done right and done on time, no one would have ever questioned how much it cost or where the money was going. It's the combination of corruption and incompetence that has ruined the City.
The relationship with Chokwe has paid off well for Richard.
This press release seems like it might be relevant to the discussion:
“We must keep our streets, neighborhoods and historic areas clean and pristine,” Mayor Lumumba said. “Thanks to community-minded companies like PDT Logistics we are returning luster and beauty to the City of Jackson while fueling economic and workforce development. We are also arming our residents with pride of ownership when it comes to their community."
When Jackson faced a garbage collection crisis in 2023 due to a contract dispute, PDT Logistics came to the rescue and removed trash from Jackson neighborhoods.
Since 2021, the company – which is licensed in more than 30 trades by the Mississippi Board of Contractors – has contributed nearly $100,000 of in-kind services to keep the capitol city gleaming, clean and beautiful. "

Garbage Contract Rematch!!!
Jackson Mayor Chokwe Antar Lumumba is not ready to throw in the towel in his quest to double Jackson's garbage service fees and cut the service in half. Nope. The City Council is going to hold another special meeting to discuss and possibly vote on the contract Thursday at 2:30. Hmmm...... that means there is one question to be answered.
The City Council rejected the contract on a 4-3 vote* last week. If the City Council votes it down twice, FCC's contract can not be voted on again for at least a year. The current Waste Management contract expires on October 1. Soooo...... is someone going to switch his vote?
JJ has also uncovered the name of one of the DBE sub-contractors: PDT Logistics. It is owned by the wife of one Richard Bradley, owner of the M-Bar and a $10,000 donor to Mayor Lumumba.
Stay tuned.

I'll be a lot more than just cemeteries get cut.
When the garbage collection doesn't work, what does?
A mutual admiration society?
"Pdt Logistics, llc
Thank you Rukia Lumumba!"
Which was a response to this post:
Rukia Lumumba

Is there was a Brownfields designation for administrative incompetency? Jackson should be declared a disaster area.
@12:15 AM it is too much liability to put a city employee out in this heat on a lawnmower. Most city employees are morbidly obeae already. You throw the risk of a heatstroke into the mix and you have the the possibility of an expensive worker’s compensation claim and possible lawsuit.
I agree it is best to outsource to a party willing to shoulder the risk and likely has airconditions tractors to mow with.
I remember in the good old days, particularly in the Mississippi delta, when people wearing green and white stripes, and black and white stripes were pushing lawn mowers along the highways and on government properties in the various towns up there. That makes entirely too much sense though.
“We must keep our streets, neighborhoods and historic areas clean and pristine,” Mayor Lumumba said”
Sorry, 1:57, after I read the above I was laughing too hard to read any further.
If it's a sham contract, could it be that Chokwe is cooperating with the Feds and setting up PDT Logistics to help himself on of the hotel/convention center fiasco? Asking for a friend
capitol city gleaming, clean and beautiful. "
What part of Jackson is this. I am used to seeing potholes, trash, bums, abandoned houses, non-working signal lights, and drive by shootings.
He recently tried to give credit to Public Works for the work being done by private citizens! If he is going to pay a contractor, they are it! He needs to stop with his friends and political payback and let the division responsible do their job!
2:39 if you use contractors, then you don't need the fat asses you describe on the payroll.
Was the work competitively bid?
Groundskeeping is a professional service?
Mowing and grounds maintenance was taken out of the Parks and Recreations Department and placed in the Solid Waste Division due to a lack of resources, according to Mayor Chokwe A. Lumumba.
JPS offers extended registration for 2024-25 school year
The city is nearing the end of budget season, which the mayor said is why they don’t have a contract up for the bid yet.
“It’s a professional service, right? Professional services are not bid out. Right? These are companies that she in her work with grass cutting and working with companies reached out to the company she thought had the ability to do it and cutting cemetery is a more difficult undertaking than just cutting right away. That’s because obviously, people care about the plots that their families have in front of their graves. You want to make certain that you don’t harm anything. You can’t just run through with a zero term in a cemetery. And so, it requires a certain level of professional effort to do it correctly,” said Lumumba.

Pdt will in turn be leasing out cemetery parking to the city to park the public works vehicles not being used for the cheap rate of 3 million per year. 17 1/2 year lease.
@3:04 Wishful thinking. PDT Logistics licensed in more than 30 trades...right.
@11:10, and they will continue to NOT DO ANYTHING.
@11:51, yes we remember Airwave, the radios and the maintenance they were paid to perform and never did at the communications towers and Radios they were to provide.
@11:54, you have a very valid point.
@12:35, you are absolutely correct! Anytime you can’t place your name on your company you’re up to something less than honorable. Logistics is pretty much reserved for transportation and movement, not cutting grass and blowing dead leaves.
@2:01; you know like I do that the fb and I are looking at everything :))
@3:43, you’re correct, but….remember somebody is related to somebody who is related to somebody…
Anyway, I’ve had fun doing this and dog gone it I will be responding more. As I have said in the past, 27 years ago began the Great City of jackson( not capitalized) which was once the Crossroads of the South…and STILL is. Ain’t no damn City of Soul.
Cronyism. The ones practicing it can't spell it, but they sure know how to do it.
Over $33,000/month to cut the grass/trim bushes at 5 cemeteries? Why isn't this done by city workers who are already being paid and rarely working? Our mayor is only where he is because he steers these $400,000+/year contracts to friends. This is just nasty business.
Y’all do realize, this is the same person that owns the M-Bar. Perhaps y’all should look into how much the Bradley’s contributed to lil jokeway’s campaign. Hopefully, y’all will catch up with the feds in connecting the dots. Not holding my breath on y’all…
"Pdt will in turn be leasing out cemetery parking to the city to park the public works vehicles not being used for the cheap rate of 3 million per year. 17 1/2 year lease." July 16, 2024 at 6:14 PM
Brilliant! I'm in awe.
"I agree it is best to outsource to a party willing to shoulder the risk and likely has airconditions tractors to mow with."
A cemetery cannot be maintained with a tractor. I assume you've never visited one.
This 'corporation' is owned by the owner of the 'M Bar' and whose husband contributed $10,000 to Chock's last campaign.
Chokwe is the only Jacksonian to not have heard about the indictments?
Could be he’s trying to ram through as many contracts as possible before the hammer comes. There could not be a worse mayor and all around despicable conman in elected office.
“Pristine streets!” Last Sunday I took a nostalgic drive by where my cousins lived when we young….Dianne Drive, off McDowell Road. I could not believe the horrible, unsafe condition of the Mayor’s “Pristine streets. How this is allowed to exist in our States Capital City is beyond ridiculous. Mr. Mayor, please fix these streets! The citizens of Jackson deserve safe streets to drive on. That’s the beginning and end of that.
