Nothing has changed in Rankin county. I have personally had to call the sheriff's office since the goon squad were arrested. There was no help from the law in Rankin county. A while later I asked a deputy why didn't they answer my call. I was insulted and was lucky I didn't get arrested. Looks like there are still a few goon squad members around.

When asked how he could say that since he recruited and managed the players, Calipari responded that Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey assured him his constituents would buy this story.

I wish I was smart enough to understand the thought process in people. I know the amount of comments is irrelevant, but how does things like this just not ignite a firestorm of comments like the mardis case especially when it could potentially involve or infringe upon your rights? I don’t get it. It’s like we’re numb for certain things. Effin idiots.

Only ~50% of registered voters in Rankin County voted for him in the last election. That's telling, but hardly an indication of unanimous consent.

I can say this because one goon hit the hood on my wife's new car so hard it left a huge dent. I'm a Rankin County resident and agree with a lot of commenters that Bailey needs to go. But as an elected official, it makes removing him fairly difficult. Isn't there a process where a recall vote could be held to remove him?

Need signatures of 30% of voters in Rankin County for petition to remove. Once completed, petition goes to Governor for his signature. He can sign or reject it.

Me and every other person that I know who lives in Rankin county is disgusted with these Goons. And they are ALL Goons.
I have written all the Supes and heard nothing. Some of us have no intention of dropping this.

There are still goons in Rankin County! Our daughter was arrested, assaulted, and faced 8 years in prison all because a few Rankin County officers arrested the wrong person (our daughter) and had to forge documents and video surveillance to cover their corruption. Eventually, one year later, we were able to talk with the prosecutor who at first refused our attorney's request on numerous occasions. This matter was nolle prossed, but the trauma left behind is irreparable.

The Rankin GOP should start the petition and sign it. Tater's wife ought to be the first signature. And then EVERY Member of the BOS. And it should be available in all businesses belonging to the Rankin Chamber of Commerce. And it should be available for drive through signature at the NWRAA and Brandon ball fields and amphitheatre. And at Pinelake and the private schools. We white folks ought to be spearheading it.

But they, the BOS, will continue to hide and it won't be. Don't waste time on Change.org. Do the real petition, and then note who of the BOS or GOP or Legislature refuses to sign.

This could have been done LONG ago. And remember when we get that big tax increase who brought this shame and economic damage to us, but refused to be a man, accept responsibility as a failed leader, and who empowering him refused to remove him for loss of confidence in his leadership.

De facto or de juris, the BOS could have acted, but didn't. They don't even address it. Acts of omission and failure to supervise can get a coach penalized, but apparently not a Sheriff or his supervisors or Governor.

Bailey, like J. Edgar Hoover in years past, likely has the goods on many powerful people.

You bring up a good point. The goon squad/ Bryan Bailey debacle appears to have used a “knock and talk” as the vector for 4th amendment violation and ultimately bodily violation. Unfortunately the police state in MS has been industrializing 4th amendment abuse through what they call “safety checkpoints”. This way they can have a giant fleecing operation so that the good ole boys can continue to expand their bureaucracy off the backs of the working man. My advice is to never open your door if they try to “knock and talk” and if they ensnare you in a “safety checkpoint” never agree to any cavity searches.

It is very common for the Rankin county Sheriff's office to call and ask people to come out to their driveway to talk. Even after the goon squad was arrested it is still common.

I was visiting a friend when the sheriff called him to tell him there was a sheriff's car in his driveway wanting him to come out to talk to him. My friend had called to report a bonfire back when the county was in a burn ban. A deputy had shown up earlier but insulted my friend and warned him to get back into his house and even refused to look at the fire. My friend was not dumb enough to go out and talk to anyone involved with the sheriff's office.
We did find out something interested. No one in the state of Mississippi was interested in helping to stop people from burning during the drought. We spent the day calling different department from the governor's office down to get someone who would even listen to us.

Good point about radar. No deputy in this state should be in control of a radar unit. If you think these teenagers in the bodies of grown men are dangerous NOW, just hand them radar units. If the legislature gives them radar units, the same legislature should present them with accompanying dildos, both camo, of course.

I lived in Pearl for 10 years and everyday in the city limits bunch of dope heads wake up and start burning trash in their yards. I called all the city, PD and sheriff because our dope head neighbors kept building a bonfire on our property line and nobody did anything.

They told the dope heads who were also just happened to be Simon City Royals I was the one who kept calling and turning them in for the dope parties.

Needless to say we were harassed almost nightly with lawlessness

8:21 AM, it happens all of the time in Florence. It is the illegals here instead of the dope heads. Every time a new bunch come through they empty the house out and burn everything. No one will say anything because they are illegals and are a protected species. No law enforcement will even check them out. No politician will even try to help. We are being invaded and no one gives a damn.

I fought for my country and spent three years in the military. We are forced to protect the borders of other countries but are not allowed to protect our own borders.

Maybe it is time for the people to stand up and do what the politicians and the law refuses to do.

The problem is mostly tangential to the actual issue here. Bailey is a for profit sheriff. If his deputies thought they had some drugs or money they could take to expand the number of fat rednecks riding around in tahoes, they would have done something.

In my neighborhood we used to have a meth problem. Every once in a while a Rankin county deputy would drive through the neighborhood. A meth dealer lived close to me and they knew when the deputy would drive through long before he got in the area. A few of the meth addicts would be out in their front yard calling each other on their cell phones warning them about a deputy coming into the neighborhood. I asked the local dealer how did they know when a deputy was coming. His answer was there was a deputy who would call them and give a warning when the other deputy would drive through.

Who he thinks believes this BS? The truth will come out and he will be joining the others. In reality, he made them monsters and set them up for failure. They were just to dumb to see and adhere to the sworn oath they took.
