Madison County deputies busted an inside ring of thieves at the Nissan plant.
A security guard noticed employees were passing parts to outsiders at the plant's fence. The Madison County Sheriff got on the case and soon caught the thieves in the act. A chase ensued and the suspects were apprehended.
Deputies arrested Glenn White, Kendrick Ratliff, and Kelvish Nason and charged them with grand larceny as well as felony fleeing. Nason is a Canton Municipal Utilities Commissioner and a Nissan employee.
Sheriff Tucker said their heist included 50 catalytic converters.

Especially put the Commish under the jail as well as the rest...but especially the "ELITE". He deserves a much harsher sentence than the rest. My guess is that HE was the ringleader of the operation. Ego does that to one. I bet the "Big Guy" got more than 10% here as the ringleader.

One was already being paid as a utilities commissioner and a Nissan employee, and that still wasn’t enough. This is a case for sending a strong message.
Well, he's a CMU Commissioner, so he must be an upstanding member of the community. (Sarcasm intended of course)
Unfortunately this goes to show he's simply a dishonest thief. And I can't help but wonder what illegal activity he's been engaging in in his position as a CMU Commissioner.

It will be interesting to see what judge they get. Sheriffs Department arrests go to justice court first and theres one judge there that has the propensity to be lenient. Hope they dont get that one!

Will the IRS bring a complaint against the Honorable Kelvish for failure to report income?
(My assumption is that Kelvish did not report income from the sale of the converters).

Catalytic converters get around $300 on the black market for domestics. For exotics, it is much higher.

Fact remains - city, county nor justice court has any authority to attach your bank account, you mortgage or your retirement funds. The IRS can do that, but not justice court. If YOU are found guilty of a crime, do you think the court can confiscate your future retirement funds? I'm going to say this one more time...Get a clue!
Not to mention the fact that an appointed commissioner is not within the PERS system.
Here is the problem. You have to know that every tiny part in that building is inventoried. There has to be a security system watching all of it. This not a sustainable scam. My guess would be when they built 500 cars but used 550 cats someone would be aware.

According to the 2020 Census, Canton has approximately 11,000 people. So when the mayor and board of aldermen are looking for just 5 people to serve on the CMU board, they pick people the quality of Cleveland Anderson and Kelvish Nason. They have 11,000 people to choose from (they will deduct any minors from that number obviously), and they only need 5 qualified people. They ignore business people in the city who are intelligent and honest, and they somehow think a person like Kelvish Nason is the answer. And we wonder why we have problems in this country.
Wonder if he'll ask for and get city paid representation in court.

So, are they saying that the 50 catalytic converters were part of the "heist", just on the day these guys got caught? I have to wonder, for how long did this go on. And what is the Dollar total of what Kelvish and his associates are suspected of having stolen?
And I wonder how much of a deterrent this will be, to the location of other theft-vulnerable businesses to Madison County - and to Mississippi.
