Schoolhouse Rock composer George Newall passed away on November 30. His cartoons were a staple of Saturday morning viewing. A few episodes are posted below in his honor.

I grew up with this. I became a better student - a great writer behind this stuff! I bought copies and passed it down to my kids while they were in school. RIP, sir! Job well done!
These were the best ! I wish our representatives locally and in Washington would watch “I’m just a bill” for a quick refresher course on how laws are passed. I think dumbing it down to a 3rd grade level, everyone can understand.
Awesome! Such a memory lane trip. Thank you KF.
I can still "sing" the Preamble to the Constitution word-for-word 40+ years later thanks to Schoolhouse Rock!
I did too. It was brilliant. I remember sitting in class, test question was to write the Preamble to the Constitution. No problem because I just sang the song and wrote down the words. I bought sets of Schoolhouse Rock and gave to my nieces and nephews when they got married and had kids. Sometimes I would get an odd look, as if to say that this was old. Just smile and ask--can your kid recite the Preamble, define a conjunction, an adverb, etc. What are the steps for a bill to become law. Then I would just sing the songs. Every single niece/nephew gladly took the set then.
If you have kids, grandkids, nieces/nephews, make this a gift. Just brilliant. Rest in Peace, Mr. Newall. Your songs were a huge blessing.
Agree with the others. My kids and I would watch these programs. I knew it was working when my girls would break out in singing the Preamble. They, to this day, still can sing it word for word.
RIP sir, you did your job well.
8:11 a.m., I came here to post that very thing. I literally memorized the preamble in song. And, to this day, I am only able to regurgitate it by "hearing" the School House Rock musical rendition in my mind.
I wish everything that I needed to commit to memory could be the subject of a School House Rock production.
I used to joke that if School House Rock had created a song for every chapter in Medical Text Curriculum, I could have been an M.D.
Still know every word from all of them.
Such great memories of simpler times, filled with cartoons and cereal on Saturday mornings.
