Thank you, Coach. You are beloved by so many.

Wonder if anything will be said about cause. Playing this very close to the vest.

So Sorry.

Heart attack. EMTs didn't get a pulse for maybe 10-15 minutes so the odds of survival are usually 5% or less. Hope for the best. Good guy. A nice guy in D1 coaching. Trained lawyer, too. Funny. Hope he comes back to swing that sword and enjoy time in Key West. Respect a guy like that.

Massive heart attack. Unresponsive. Actually he was airlifted from hospital, not his home.

Very sad news to read.

Glad to see so many posters abiding by the family’s wishes to respect privacy. The family nor the school has released an update, but the Clarion Ledger posted the rumors anyway. Come on people.

He is loved by many & prayers for safe travel for his children & family en route if not here already. Thanks to doctors & all UMMC staff for you love & care!

The Clarion--Liar’s story is trash, that’s a smut rag, not fit for fish wrap.

What are the rumors that were posted?

Everything I've read has been proven true.

A defib brought him back to life in Starkville.

2:00, sorry, but these are open media reports on a high profile public figure paid many millions in taxpayer dollars weeks before a Bowl Game. No one was disrespectful. He's not a CIA Agent still out on a dangerous mission, nor even a private figure.

His family is well aware of his condition. He's a nationally known man paid for a high public profile. There is no magic anonymous rule in real life, especially for an SEC Coach during bowl season.

But, sure, let's nod our head and look to the side and pretend he's on vacation with Forrest Gump's Daddy when someone asks where Coach is. Ludicrous.

I assume some EMS cowboy wanting 5 seconds in the limelight leaked the story. The family nor the school did. Somebody violated HIPPA.

“There is no magic anonymous rule in real life, especially for an SEC Coach during bowl season.” Um, you forgot about federal law on protected health information.

3:28 Such compassion. Crawl back under your rock.

HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)

To 3:28: Newsflash, Coach's millions are paid by boosters, not from tax revenue. Get your redneck head out of your A$$!

Anonymous said...

4:37, umm, you mean HIPAA. No we didn't forget HIPAA as it doesn't apply to us, nor to the many folks who learn information, or family members or friends or players or other coaches. Not a provider. Who is subject to HIPAA: Only those under “direct control” of a Covered Entity – that is, employees, volunteers, students, contractors, etc. – are subject to HIPAA. Not the media either.

To 3:28: It's called common decency, class, deference. The only good thing is nobody reads that paper anymore. I heard about the story. Seems everyone has the same reaction to the story but you. Next, they will publish a close up of a child mauled and killed by wild dogs. You would be ok with it because the parents knew the details.

5:28, newsflash, the big bucks come from broadcast deals, endorsements, and so on, not so much Bubba.

Yet, where would all of this money come from -- what endorsement deals would there be, what television fees would be collected -- if there were no taxpayer-funded university for the coach's team to play at?

Yes, our state officials decide to spend vast amounts of tax dollars on a kid's game that has to be played at a taxpayer paid school. Even private colleges depend heavily on Federal and state tax research dollars. But at least the priority at Harvard is being a world class academic institution, not a feeder for the crooked NFL thug system.

Everywhere, taxpayers subsidize sports, sports gambling, stadiums, exorbitant salaries. Because we are a declining nation of tards who watch fewtbawl and drink while other nations study and invest in students, not thugs.

Leach’s legacy happens on every football field at every level not only on offense but also on the defenses that had to evolve to counter the air raid.

Does anyone know the decision to go to UMMC? I would have thought UAB would be better equipped for the situation but he may have been too far gone.

Praying for Coach and His Family at this difficult time.

5:55 is clearly the same jack ass. Define “we”.

Just because you are an internet cowboy rushing to get a scoop does not change the fact that somebody talked before the family was ready to talk, and that sucks. I don’t care if we are going to a bowl are not. What an insane comment.

Anonymous said...

5:55, common decency DOES apply. Come on man.

Coach Leach is a public figure. Many including me are concerned about his health status. I was hoping that he would have a chance of recovery but it’s obvious he will not. I don’t think it’s disrespect to want to know his status. I’m sure that the University and his family have many decisions to make and that’s understandable. When I go it’s just family and close friends unlike the number of people that will be affected by his death. I would venture to guess that many complaints are being posted bry those that have posted that his Air Raid was trash and he should be fired. I liked him as a coach and as a man and am sad to realize that he will be gone.

He’s 61 and on hospice care I’ve read

Y’all need to get off your keyboards and enjoy living

3:28, 5:55, and 6:53 must be the same heartless person.

Facts: The maximum pay for any coach of any sport of all public universities by the taxpayers (the state) in Mississippi is limited by law to $250,000 and for no more than a 4 year contract. Boosters supply all of the rest. All of the bowl, TV, conference, and endorsement monies go to the university (the state) and support all of the sports that do not make money. Boosters do not any money in return.

Harvard is a hedge fund that happens to own a university with a $40 billion dollar endowment that is very active in the market.

3:28 and 5:55 are claiming that they know the source of all of the info and claim that it is not someone who is bound by HIPPAA. I don't believe they have inside knowledge of anything. However, they are exposing their lack of character.

Advice: If you don't know, keep your mouth shut.

God bless his family. Nuf said.

Thank you, 5:55. Everyone seems to think that HIPPA applies to everyone.

12:16, even after the guy dies, you can't let go of a good argument. Come on man.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
