Water Update

The city of Jackson issued the following statement.

he City of Jackson is distributing drinking water to residents in need today at Sykes Park Community Center at 520 Sykes Rd. The center is located in the southwest corner of Sykes Park.

Cases of bottled water will NOT be available. Affected residents are asked to bring a container to store the water. There will be no containers available at the center. There are no limits on the number of containers a resident can bring.

Potable water is also available for affected residents at any of the City’s fire stations.

The City plans to have a distribution site available every day until water pressure is restored. We will keep the media advised of any new developments.

What: Water distribution (Bring a container)

When: 10 a.m. Monday, June 27

Where: Sykes Park Community Center, 520 Sykes Rd.

The distribution is in partnership with Mississippi Rapid Response Coalition and Mississippi Poor People’s Campaign.

For additional details, please contact the City’s Office of Constituent Services at 601-960-2324 or 601-960-1835.

12:10 PM Update

Today, the City’s Public Works Department and external contractors continue to make progress on restoring water pressure at the O.B. Curtis Water Plant. As of Monday morning, pressure has increased. If it remains that way throughout the day, the City will be able to start water sampling tomorrow and it is possible the citywide boil water notice can be lifted as early as Wednesday afternoon/Thursday morning. Out of caution, the City is providing a timeline of about five days before all residents will have water pressure restored to normal.

City of Jackson, Hinds County and City of Byram water customers remain under a boil water notice and water conservation advisory.

In response, the City’s Office of Constituent Services with the help of the Mississippi Rapid Response Coalition and Mississippi Poor People’s Campaign have held several water distribution sites since pressure issues were first reported last week. Today, drinking water is being distributed to residents in need at Sykes Park Community Center at 520 Sykes Rd. The center is located in the southwest corner of Sykes Park. Affected residents are asked to bring a container to store the water. There will be no containers available at the center. There are no limits on the number of containers a resident can bring.

Potable water is also available for affected residents at any of the City’s fire stations.

The City will continue to organize these sites daily as long as any resident is affected by low to no water pressure. The City will release information regarding additional distribution sites as soon as they are up and running.

Ok, so where are the fire stations obtaining the water from they are giving away? Another municipality? Or is this a sham trying to make the people getting the water from the fire stations think it’s clean?

Yep Chickenshit made sure to post a picture of India instead of you-know-where!

Used beadpans are not suitable containers.

Unlimited containers you say?
So I can bring my Quickset pool from Rankin County and they will fill it up?

POOL PARTAAAAY!!!

And with all this going on these idiots are pissing away money on a triviality like renaming streets. Unbelievable.

@12:19 he didn't have to post one from India just post one from South Jackson. Person will be carrying a 5 gallon bucket instead of a nice pot from India. It's a shame though that you bring race into it. I look at it differently. I see a left wing elitist who is black treating black people the way the jim crowe south used to treat black people. This time they can vote and eat at the same resturants but now they don't have basic needs like water. It's all the same to me.

India, Africa, Asia, Old Mexico, Jackson...what is the difference really?

This happened cause no one wAs working.

Where Oh Where Is You Know Where? said...

12:19; I can't be certain of the ethnicity of the person in the photo, but what difference does it make? It's an accurate picture to go along with this never-ending story on incompetence-on-parade. Would you have squawked had she appeared Italian or Swedish?

This is third world stuff. The libs ought to be thrilled. Wasn't it Obama that said that he wanted to take the USA down a few notches on the world stage?? Well, we are here.

Lighten up Alice....it's just a little jackassery!

1:33. to be fair, none of the problems with jackson water are the fault of barack obama.

i think mayor(s) of the city of Jackson and the city council(s) have let this happen over the course of years...

12:33 for the win!!!

@1:19
Kingfish censors any comments which even vaguely compare Jackson to a certain continent. Even though the Mayor’s dad proudly adopted a name from that continent and was a member of a radical separatist group with a goal to make Mississippi into a neo-version of that continent.
He could’ve very well used a picture of indigenous peoples from that certain continent to portray Jackson’s situation. But he chose India because he is a little bitch. I hope Sandeep spits in his Daal next time KF orders Indian cuisine.

Where are they getting this “safe” water that the city is giving away? Is the city “buying” this water from a campaign donor out of the city of Jackson? For all we know at this point, this water may being “bought” and harvested in the city.

This will certainly distract from the Garbage drama.

You know, that one service that was actually working so Chuck sought it out and destroyed it.

Good luck in the Jackson Games. May the odds be ever in your favor, tributes.

Just a perception of patheticness

Once your pipes have had contaminated water in them long enough, the system has to be sanitized. Restaurants have ice machines, bar and soda guns, pot fillers, dish pit pipes and equipment, hand washing sinks and water fountains that all need to be flushed, cleaned and sanitized. Same goes for water towers and building holding tanks. Not a chance I would eat at a jackson restaurant until they could document that they cleaned their systems. It might seem like a harsh and overreaction, I do have a graduate degree in food science with multiple certifications in sanitary engineering for food service and production. A mistake in this area can be fatal to the very young and elderly. This third world nonsense must end. The ramifications of mediocre management of water systems are long term nightmares deleterious to the health of citizens. Demand answers and transparency. My guess is they are hiding numerous problems.

Such hostility. That will get your blood pressure up.

If the election were held tomorrow Chokwe would still get 70% of the vote. I think Forrest Gump said it best. " Stupid is as stupid does"

What funds is the city using to buy water?

100,000+ people without potable water. Unfucking believable.

Why aren't you Jacksonites protesting? What a bunch of lemmings.

Anonymous said...

I don't know about "beadpans", but bedpans are very appropriate for the quality of water provided by the city.

3:14 is hitting on something very important. Think about this. The mayor purposely chose not to use a legitimate refuse company. The water and sewer issue is in dire straits, but he has someone in his corner that will pull his ass out of a sling if it gets in one, like the workers in Flynt, Michigan did. And the person who wants all of this to crumble for some unknown reason except for a plan that he will “swop in” and be the hero is the one and only Bennie Thompson. After all, he was a close close friend of the Mayor’s dad. They go way back to the days of the RNA. Who else is benefiting from all of this? It sure isn’t the taxpayers and rate payers. Free the Land will come in many disguises.

Kingfish said...

If you haven't noticed, Chokwe crowd is forcing out all the Bennie people at the airport.

HBO and Netflix are missing out on a superb reality series.

If only it was mediocre water management.

Anonymous said...

Water, water everywhere and not a drinkable drop anywhere!

Sure is funny only "blue run" crap holes have these type issues.

4:29 PM
KF are you holding juicy news back? Last time I used that glorified regional airport was back in 2015 flying out to Colorado for training. Who are Bennie's people there? I know you alluded to Chokwe being on Thompson's shit list like a year ago.

Anonymous said...

@3:32 PM - thanks for that contribution. Maybe Chowke knows this and his cynical plan is to shut down all food service businesses to Free the Land, i.e. chase out all white Jackistanians and keep the remaining residents on the plantation where he can be the masta.

Anonymous said...

Wanna bet that Antar is on the coast at the MML conference (with running water and at the city's expense)?

Anonymous said...

Will someone kindly tell me what Bennie Thompson has done to make Mississippi a better state?

Anonymous said...

@5:22
I hear his fish fries are epic. However, I have never been invited.

Anonymous said...

What ever happened to the tests that were run on Jackson water and showed it was not safe to drink? I haven't heard anything about the water being safe. Did that just get swept under the rug?

Anonymous said...

@5:22 PM - He put Bolton on the map.

Anonymous said...

5:22, 6:26 and 7:13. There is more than meets the eye with a corrupt politician and I’m glad you see What I see. Because of the redistricting, (gerrymandering ) we have a terrorist linked politician in our midst. Look it up and ask a certain Hinds County judge whose father was killed by that group BT was supporting.

WTF said...

So where is the free water coming from? Is it boiled?

Anonymous said...

So free water at the fire station? Anyone else picturing JFD's finest trying to fill empty gallon jugs with a fire hose from a pumper truck tank?

Anonymous said...

Yes, folks. This how the "transparent" Lumumba administration endeavors to keep it's citizens updated on a basic human need.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
