Update: The leak took place on June 16.
The city of Jackson issued a city-wide boil water notice and warned some areas were suffering a lack of water pressure. The press release stated:
Due to water pressure issues at the O.B. Curtis Water Plant, the City of Jackson is issuing a citywide boil water notice. A water distribution site has been set up to accommodate residents with low or no water pressure. City officials will hold a media briefing at City Hall at 1 p.m. to address the issue. This notice affects all surface and well water customers. Mechanical issues with filtration equipment at the plant, combined with higher than normal demand due to prolonged high temperatures, has led to low water pressure in both systems. Once pressure drops below 65 psi, the City of Jackson is required to issue a citywide notice. The Environmental Protection Agency and Mississippi Department of Health have been notified.
However, the statement did not include any mention of an ammonia leak. A report* on the National Response Center's website states the O.B. Curtis Water Treatment Plant released 200 gallons of ammonia due to a faulty valve. Employees were temporarily evacuated.
The ammonia tank was drained. It took several hours to repair the membrane. Water pressure fell.
* Link to report. The report is part of a massive Excel spreadsheet. The magic code number you need is 1338954 in the first column of every tab. The "report" is spread out over several tabs.

So, do I have this right? The water conservation order was to cover up the fact that having the Curtis system down was overwhelming the well system and decreasing the pressure. They thought maybe reducing usage would keep them above a minimum pressure and prevent a boil water notice. It didn't work, and now we're finding out the conservation order wasn't really about hot weather.
We'd respect them more if they were honest about it up front.
Lumumba covers up everything. Nothing he says is accurate
Lying Lumumba is his nickname. What a idiot.
Does this have anything to do with the hole in the roof that has been visible for more than a month? How incompetent are the Jackson Public Works employees? Can Shad verify that they are even showing up to work? Who is more scared of being called racist? Shad or Tate?
If the EPA was notified, are they going to finally come down hard on the City with Soul for not doing anything that they've directed them to do?
. Exposure to high concentrations of ammonia in air causes immediate burning of the eyes, nose, throat and respiratory tract and can result in blindness, lung damage or death.
How do you evacuate employees that were not there to begin with?
Interpersonal violence, hot weather, cold weather, environmental racism, state government's failure to pay its bills have been red herrings thrown out regarding the City of Jackson's water problems. The majority of the problems are obviously a result of a lack of proper management and maintenance. All on the way to Chok getting his award from Havard for "changing communities."
We can all say he is changing his community.
With all of the inflationary bullshit combined with now, 100 food processing plants shut down in the USA, it is hard to imagine that the "Great Reset" is still just a fringe conspiracy theory to some, worthy of only mockery.
Top it off with some of the poorest people in this nation, unable to get clean water from the tap, living with the highest per capita murder rate in the nation. I can only imagine what horrors await us if they admit that this years harvest will be insufficient to feed the nation.
If the election were held today he would still get 70% of the vote.
@11:02
and 90% of that 70% would still be satisfied to come to Madison and Rankin counties to spend their money because it's too dangerous to shop in Jackson. It beats anything I've ever seen.
Are the local nwo agents errrrrr news folk covering this ? Investigating the easy parts like no actual employees working at the water plant.
1. Last Tuesday the city issued a water conservation notice.
2. Two days later, it issued a boil water notice.
3. Today, seven days after the conservation notice, we learn through investigative reporting that a valve failed and caused a chemical spill, which resulted in the city's water problems.
4. The city still has not told the public what really happened.
I don't understand how this administration has any credibility whatsoever.
They sure have had a bunch of faulty valves. Are the valves racist? Racist valve manufacturer? Valves purchased at gun shows? Valve company owned by a white guy?
Or is "faulty valve" just an excuse that they pull out of their ass to appease the gullible local media and the Jackistan sheeple?
This is what happens when you put Democrats in control of anything.
I have sent to emails to Virgi Lindsay with no response from her. This is unacceptable that we pay the amount of taxes in the City and conditions are as deplorable as they are. The EPA needs to step in, the State needs to step in and who cares at this point if they cry and whine about racism? This is an absolute disgrace.
I applaud 12:45 efforts.
Given The Fondren's propensity for activism, it must be a real conundrum for them. If they want to march the streets and demand clean water, they are offending one of their own exalted ones in Chuckles.
Yep. Valves gotta' be racist.
Jackson: The City with Holes.
The Lumumba charades just keep on coming. What's another cover-up to a corruptly dishonest Mayor?
You see what you missed for a modest $3.46 per month added to your water bill that either most never get or most never pay? You could have had a 96 gallon container with wheels to pull down to your local fire station (NO gas needed!) to get filled with your drinking water. It would have even had "Richard's Disposal" painted on the sides to remind you of the "Dicking" you get with the Chowke transparent (some water IS clear) administration.
You know, there was the Riddler, the Joker, the Penguin....I'm thinking that former New Orleans fellow, Miller, that ran the public works department, was actually Commissioner Gordon, and when the latest villain, the Chokwer showed up, he had his ass run off so he couldn't call Bat Man.
@12:45
Fondren resident here. I helped campaign for Virgi and I will never promote her again. So many people in Fondren Belhaven are furious with her. She tries to appease both sides and that can’t happen.
So they had an Ammonia leak at OB and evacuated the staff. Never said shit to the Ridgeland neighborhood, or city that I'm aware of next to the plant. Jackson, eat shit and die.
June 29, 2022 at 12:17 AM, you're in the lead early today.
no updates as the city drowns in undrinkable water
Jackistan is still proving to be Detroit v2.0. But will the state take over like was done in Michigan?
Is it time to vote for a new mayor yet?
