A Hinds County grand jury indicted Stephen Hopkins for embezzlement on October 6, 2021 for embezzlement from his employer, Health Plus Federal Credit Union. Hopkins is the Chief Administrative Officer for Hinds County. The indictment states:
on about and between the 1st day of January, 2019, and the 31st day of June, 2021, in the county aforesaid and within the jurisdiction of this Court, being a male human being above the age of eighteen (18) years, whose date ofbirth is June 5, 1980, did willfully, unlawfully, and fraudulently embezzle and/or fraudulently secrete, conceal, and/or convert to his own use, or make away with, or secrete with the intent to embezzle or convert to his own use, goods, rights in action, money, and/or other valuable security, effects, or property of any kind or description, with a value of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00) or more, but less than twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000.00) which had been entrusted to his care or possession by virtue of his office. What about Kenny Wayne and the Canton Utilities MONEY??
Hinds County is a haven for rogues n thieves, in my opinion.
If he stole from his former employer, there's a good chance he's stealing from his current employer too, especially since Hinds County has no controls over anything.
This may qualify him to run for higher office, especially in Mississippi.
It's a Hinds County indictment. Obviously Hinds County would be aware of an indictment of it's own County Administrator and decided that it's a minor matter he was a good ole boy and needed a job. It's not like he was a murderer, or a child molester, or a Republican or something serious like that. Give 'em a break.
If a county employee has a county car are they given a credit card to purchase gas or is there a county gas pump? If given a card how many county employees fill up their personal vehicles using said county credit/gas card? Shad?
After a grand jury hands out a true bill normally the deputy DA would take ownership and have the suspect arrested. I guess the deputy DA was told to stand down, but by whom? A Soros funded DA?
Again, Madison County(Rankin too but not in this case) is doing the work of the capital city & Hinds county. If it weren't for the surrounding counties, I wonder just how bad it would be. Hinds/Jackson just doesnt give a damn about law and order, just "getins mines".
11:14 your Belhaven is showing.
The pieces are not that hard to fit together - once all the dots are connected. Former Sheriff Crisler buried this indictment (dot 1)
Supervisor Calhoun was a strong backer of Crisler in his election after having appointed him to the vacant badge (dot 2)
Supervisors, under the 3-2 contol vote hired the new County Administrator Hopkins)= (dot 3)
The only missingn dot is the connection between Hopkins and Calhoun - what love relationship exists there.
No way someone with an outstanding warrant could get hired for a top administrative position such as this without a heavy thumb being put on top of the HR/Personnel folks.
But it is Hinds County after all.
Seriously warrant was issued October 2021; come on now! Gracious
You can take it to the bank (credit union) that the Hinds County government guilty parties are getting their stories together as I type. Hinds County government is crooked as a dog's hind leg.
Maybe they will throw Hopkins under the bus to protect their own rice bowls. It could happen, unless he has too much wood on them.
Is this what Kim Wade refers to as, “black for a living”?
How does a public organization hire someone that is facing criminal charges?
@1149, yes - it was October 2021. And, as was said shortly before you, that was during the tenure of the 'interim sheriff' - the infamous Mr. Crisler.
31st day of June??
31st day of June?? Am I reading that right??
That's what the indictment says.
So..... will the DA have to re-indict?
One wonders how he has handled the RFPs and companies and item coming to him in Hinds County.
Hey folks, he's NOT the County Administrator - that's a different nut. He's the Director of Administration which is a newly made-up job in Hinds County government. He reports to the County Administrator.
Scrivener’s error, easily amended.
Wow, so this qualifies him to run for governor. Congratulations
