The city of Jackson and Waste Management issued the following statements
Alleged Waste Landfill Closure
The City of Jackson will pursue legal action if necessary to ensure garbage disposal “transfer” sites in the City remain operational to prevent any future issues with trash collection. It has come to the attention of the City that the transfer facility, owned and operated by Waste Management, has been inexplicably closed for hours without notice or reason and that has prevented our current vendor, Richard’s Disposal, from performing their garbage collection duties.
This unexpected closure has prevented Richard’s from collecting garbage from some neighborhoods. It is not a reflection on Richard's ability to perform their duties, but when the transfer facility closes down hours before expected, it makes it impossible for Richard’s to complete its work and leaves residents with uncollected garbage - a potential health risk.
The City has a separate agreement for disposal of garbage through the transfer station and is working behind the scenes to make sure Waste Management abides by its responsibilities outlined in that agreement. If it is intentionally causing delays in the garbage collection process, this is not only bad business, it is also a potential breach of contract and could lead to serious and costly environmental consequences.
Uncollected Garbage
The City of Jackson is advising residents to keep any uncollected garbage on the curb for pick-up. Some residents have experienced delays in trash collection due to unexpected closures at a garbage transfer facility. The transfer site is where garbage collection trucks drop off garbage for disposal.
The City wants to ensure residents that garbage will be collected. Crews with Richard’s Disposal continue to collect garbage and deliver it to the transfer station as allowed. The City is working behind the scenes to make sure there are no future issues.
Waste Management Statement
“The WM transfer station is happy to receive truck loads from Richard’s Disposal within the normal operating hours of the facility and have throughout this process. The WM Transfer Station’s hours of operation on Saturdays are 6am-4pm. On Saturday, April 2, 2022, Richard’s Disposal dumped 11 trucks worth of refuse between the hours of 12-4pm, with the last truck to arrive that day completing its dump at 3:26pm. No trucks were turned away during normal operational times. As always, WM is proud to serve the people of the City of Jackson with timely, safe and professional waste services.”

Everything this administration does appears to be "behind the scenes."
At least they admit it.
Open the gates where the mayor lives and dump it in there. He’s the reason for this fiasco.
I don't blame Waste Mgt one bit.

"The last truck arrived at 3:26 that afternoon and no trucks were turned away during normal operational times."
Mayor loose with the facts again.
Didn't WM already refute this claim with timestamps of when Richard's made drops?
Somebody is just bucking for another lawsuit.
Local joy if RD has to caravan full trucks back to Louisiana.
That was one of the larger issues - that WM owns the landfill and transfer facility. Kind of puts Richards at a disadvantage. That’s why they do “lowest and best bid” as Richards has no local facilities. I’m sure WM will just lay down and let Richards have whatever they want. Ha.
1025, you just don't understand. With this Mayor it's always somebody else's fault.
It can't be the failure of the Mayor, or in this case his hand picked contractor, that things didn't work out. Gotta shift the blame to others.
WM closed the transfer site "early" on Saturday. That's why garbage in my neighborhood wasn't picked up yesterday (Monday). Got it.
If Waste Management owns and operates the dump, what obligation do they have to keep it open for their competitors to use? What's to keep them from increasing their rates? Or just closing shop entirely? Are these things regulated like utilities? I honestly have no idea....
I wonder if the contract that WM has stipulates that only "contracted vendors for the City of Jackson" may use the transfer facility? If so, does that mean that they can deny access to Richard's Disposal since they do not have a contract?
Waste Management has a contract with Jackson to accept its garbage at the WM landfill. I think we can assume that the contract has a clause that allows whoever collects garbage for Jackson to take it to the landfill.
Kingfish , Assume? Dealing with a City of Jackson contract you think we should "assume" anything?
All I assume when dealing with Jackson, especially if it came through PW or Legal, which in this case it did both, is that they will be f**ked up.
Do like NOLA did (NOLA is home to Richard's who was one of 3 contractors). Hold a First Amendment Protected "Trash Parade" by City Hall and dump it there. In LuMumbler's parking place might be a good spot.
They started dumping it at City Hall and things got sorta fixed rapidly. Still sorting out contractors, too, including Richard's.
Sounds familiar. Hmmmm. Seems to be a pattern. What could be the common denominator in all of this dysfunction?
But who is "collecting" the garbage on behalf of the city? No formal contract exists, so it's no different than a private citizen arriving with a dump truck load of $h1t!
How much does the city pay Waste Management to use THEIR facility? Obviously they have no such agreement with Richard's Disposal. Is that cost part of the Waste Management contract? If so, shouldn't that cost be considered when discussing the relative costs associated with these two opposing companies?
Just askin'.
So the boy mayor proclaimed he had to telephone WM on Saturday to open a facility that by his account was closed which of course was a f--g lie.
The boy mayor needs to be bitch slapped and sent packing.
"Open the gates where the mayor lives and dump it in there. He’s the reason for this fiasco."
I vote to not worry about the gate and just pile it up as you turn off Ridgewood his cul de sac's neighborhood or just throw it over the fence into his side yard.
Is anyone organizing such a protest? If so, I'll be there with my three cans of garbage and yard limbs and leaves that didn't get picked up yesterday.
Some residents have experienced delays in trash collection due to unexpected closures at a garbage transfer facility.
Basura Mayor with yet another fabrication.
Picked up mine between 4 and 5 yesterday. CCJ was finally picked up at 7:30 last night.
It's only a perception of garbage not being picked up. In the event that it isn't picked up in the future it's because of those gun shows and "open-carry."
just the beginning of the outstanding service Jackson will receive with its new garbage collection service!!
As of 2:00 this afternoon, everyone is being asked to bring there garbage to the front steps of City Hall.
Shades of city takeover of zoo.
there is already enough garbage in City Hall
The mayor may need to check the chemicals in his waves. They making him cuh cuh crazy.
Just rode down Meadowbrook and around the Council Circle area. Garbage everywhere. Richard's needs to tighten up
Hey WM, just strike through that "line" in the contract, like the sh*t for brains mayor impostor did, then tell the the Kindergarten acting juvenile (AKA da Boy Mayor) and his contract amended service supplier to fuk'n go pound sand!!!!!
I saw a picture of those pretty new garbage trucks. Who in their right mind would advance money to that new trash hauler without a contract? Maybe, the mayor of Jackson had the city guarantee the truck contract?
Im just regurgitating this from last week, but any garbage dump, once opened, is probably a money maker. WM picking up the residential trash is just one part of their business.
Also… post your experience with trash pickup here(I suggest)
By Jackson Academy, picked up as usual
Hm it almost seems like this Richard's operation doesn't know what they're doing. If only someone could have foreseen this!
@11:11 - Call Will Smith.....he might be looking for a job. He did an excellent job of 'Bitch Slapping' Chris Rock.
'Bitch Slaps By Will' has a nice ring to it !
It should be well known by now that Lumumba just makes crap up to misdirect away from the incompetence of his administration.
RD picked up all my trash (lots of bags) and boxes. WM has been picking up a couple bags each visit.. so I am thankful for RD. Almost like WM did it on purpose to make too much trash for RD to pickup when they started....
When WM had the contract, sure it was in their interest to keep the dump open a little longer as holder of both contracts. Now? Why pay OT or increase the risk of staying open later for a vendor whose contract is shady, and probably hasn't hammered out details with WM on dump use and times.
And maybe after that last truck at 3:26 pm, the guy working had to leave early? Have some empathy for the working man!
@2:31
Yes Lil Choke love to spew him some crap, even when his lies are easily called out. Notice he used "closed unexpectedly" in his verbage to hide the fact that WM closed the waste transfer facility normally. Then deceitfully created a bizarre environmental charge against WM.
What a revolting piece of garbage he is!
Lumumba getting hammered on NextDoor including condemnation about the false flag regarding the transfer station.
Worst Mayor in the history of Jackson. Bar none.
Methinks some RD driver's were running late and thus arrived after the published closing time, and then lied about it to cover their backsides.
Original Idiocracy 2006 Script before Edits.
Meanwhile, the Population Exploded & Intelligence continued to Decline... until humanity was incapable of solving even its most basic problems. Like GARBAGE, which had been stacked for centuries with no plan whatsoever...leading to the Great Garbage Avalanche of 2505...
As the sun rises, we see that this is not a natural mountain range — it is a huge, stinking mountain of garbage, ridiculously steep & unstable, the result of centuries of stacking garbage with no plan whatsoever. We are definitely in the future. PUSH IN ON: The highest peak. A truck winds its way up a small road, a Dr. Suess-looking path carved into the side of an absurdly steep face.
At the wheel of the truck is the DRIVER, the dumbest looking guy you've ever seen, a fat gum-drop-headed guy, with a weird futuristic haircut, an ugly uniform & the McDonalds golden arches tattooed on his forehead. He is looking at a porn magazine while he drives. He alternates between excited grunts from the porn & startled grunts as he nearly swerves off the road. The driver manages to navigate the truck to the summit. He parks it, pulls a lever & the garbage begins to unload, causing the mountain to quiver under the new extra weight. The driver cracks a beer & watches.
The truck finishes unloading & the driver tosses his empty can on top, but the dusty wind knocks it back down. The driver tries again. And again. Frustrated, he finally takes the can & plants it forcefully on top, causing the small peak to collapse, which causes the next part below to collapse & a chain reaction on down the mountain. It was One beer can more than this mountain was designed to hold.
In a WIDER SHOT, we see a huge, epic GARBAGE AVALANCHE !!!!
What about all you tough talkers who said you were gonna dump your trash at the mayor's house? Put up or shut up
so if Richards was collecting garbage on Saturday and only unloaded 11 trucks during the normal operating hours of WM transfer station, what did Richards do with the rest of the garbage.
I guess they did exactly what the Mayor tried to assure the Council wouldn't be an issue; they took their loaded trucks - you know, them stanky trucks that Kenneth complained about - back to Hawkins Field.
As Stokes said, environmental racism allowing this operation within the neighborhood. Mayor assured that there would be no garbage at the airport - so lets see what they did with their loaded trucks. Didn't see them driving back around the routes unloading it back at resident's houses so one has to assume that it spent the night Saturday and all day Sunday at Hawkins Field.
Bet that violated their approval from FAA as well.
Day 4 in south Jackson!!
Trash has been roadside for FOUR DAYS and counting!!!
Richards is no more competent than their good buddy Lying Lumumba!
Everything Lumumba touches turns to shit in a hurry!!!! To all you dumbasses that voted for this fool THANKS ALOT!!
BRING BACK WASTE MANAGEMENT!
And those in Jackistan singing the boy mayor's praises will re-elect him. yall are stuck with him.
It’s a given that the “family” that controls WM is not going to let a damn po dunk garbage man from south Louisiana step in their turf.
I find it odd that when they moved trucks to Jackson they started having issues in NOLA. Folks are complaining trucks aren't coming by and they reduced pickup to 1 day a week. I bet they don't have enough trucks. Likely the reason they are behind in Jackson as well.
The mayor is committing political suicide. There are less than 5 things everyone in Jackson agrees on. Reliable garbage collection is in the top 2 with water.
I wonder if any of the other 49 states capitol cities have the plethora of problems that the leadership of Jackson has created.
My pickup date is Monday. Still sitting in front of my Fondren area home.
And he would be re-elected if the vote was held today, and he knows it.
He is impervious to the whims of the peons.
He is a Harvard man and will leave to prosper handsomely in DC soon, while Jackson residents elect the next carbon-copy of Choke and continue to live in disrepair.

Back to the bad old days: Hipster Brooklyn looks like NYC of the 1970s as trash piles up amid sanitation worker protest over vaccine mandate as furious residents slam 'crybabies who are supposed to pick up the trash'
Brooklyn and Staten Island streets are littered with huge piles of trash, reminiscent of the 1970s, as the city's sanitation workers allegedly began a 'slow down' in protest of NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio's vaccine mandate
Residents say the trash has not been collected in days, with some saying the slow down began on Saturday
'Look, you're going to have some spots in the city that they feel very strongly about this,' the workers' union rep said as the Friday COVID vaccine deadline looms with only 65% of sanitation employees vaccinated
De Blasio swore to end the slow down and warned the that replacements could get the job done
It comes as NYC firefighters and police union officials have also protested the vaccine mandate.

VIDEO (Mounds of Garbage on Streets)...New Yorkers make a stink about 1981 garbage strike
ABC7 Friday, Dec 17, 2021
NEW YORK (WABC) -- New Yorkers were dreaming of a stink-free Christmas in 1981 as a garbage strike seemed to have no end in sight.
On Dec. 16, on day 16 of the strike, Channel 7 Eyewitness News reporter Tracy Egan made her way around the piles of garbage all over Manhattan & residents told her they were fed up.
"We certainly can't stand the trash around & people have to find a place to walk in the street," a woman told Eyewitness News. "This thing is taking up entirely too much room."
Fortunately for everyone involved, the strike was SETTLED the Very NEXT day. The resolution of the impasse was presented as an Early Christmas Gift to the City.

Things could be worse...After New Yorkers already put up with Garbage, Taxi, Tugboat, Public School & Transit Strikes, in 1970 The 1700 Grave-Digger Union (Cemetery Workers & Green Attendants Local 365) went on strike, affecting 400 Burials a day in 44 Cemeteries.
