Will House Kill Buddy's Bill Today?

 Will the House Judiciary "B" Committee help the Buddy's of Mississippi? Buddy is a sweet dog a 12-year old demon set on fire last year.  The hellion could not be prosecuted because of his age.  Senate bill #2261 aims to fix that problem but it may die in the committee today.

SB #2261 states:

   (c)  The youth court shall order that a child adjudicated delinquent receives a psychiatric evaluation and counseling or treatment for a length of time as prescribed by the youth court.  The cost of any evaluation, counseling and treatment shall be paid by the offender's parent or guardian, or by the state if the offender is a ward of the state, upon order of the youth court, up to a maximum amount that is no more than the jurisdictional limit of the sentencing court.  The youth court shall hold the offender's parent or guardian in contempt under Section 43-21-509 if the parent or guardian willfully does not follow the recommended treatment for the offender. Text of bill.

State Senator Angela Hill authored the bill.

Such cruelty is all too often the gateway to more barbaric crimes.  The bill is a step in getting kids such as the one who burned Buddy for fun the psychiatric help they obviously need. Luke Woodham is one such example.  He tortured his dog to death, beating her, pouring lighter fluid down her throat, and setting her on fire to "harden" himself before he went on his murderous rampage at Pearl High School.

The bill overwhelmingly passed the Senate but now is withering on the vine in "Jud B".  Today is the deadline for such bill's to make it out of committee.  State Representative Nick Bain is the Chairman.

Kingfish note: Buddy doesn't know a thing about tax cuts.  He doesn't know about the one-upmanship that goes on between the House and Senate.  He doesn't understand killing bills to retaliate because so and so wouldn't pass my bill.  He doesn't understand priming the pump or the crony capitalism that plagues Mississippi.  He doesn't have lobbyists nor any PACs.  He doesn't have a seat in the Locker Room at Tico's. All sweet Buddy knows is he was burned to a crisp last year by someone he trusted.  A someone who later killed his own sibling.  Well, Buddy is trusting us to do the right thing and protect the other Buddy's from the torch as well as future murder victims.  Will Jud B kill the bill? Stay tuned.

Yeah, it'll die in session. No money to be made here.

I agree @9:49. No money and no connection to Critical Race Theory

What happens to 12 year olds under the current laws?

Anonymous said...

If Buddy had belonged to a legislator and the 12 year old was a neighbor, the bill would pass but since it doesn't affect them, they do not care. Also, they don't know what ALEC wants them to do.

Who fucking cares? We still send dogs into minefields and law enforcement puts them into other dangerous situations all the time! I see hamburger meat on I-20 every single day that used to be dogs, cats, raccoons, and armadillos.

I would rather they ban slaughterhouses that turn cows upside down and slit their throats so they writhe in agony and bleed out to satisfy some ridiculous bronze age religious requirements.

10:11'S comments should be looked at from the point of view that some folks are just thick and do not get simple things. This boy tortured this dog for only reasons he knows and there is no excuse. If they pass on this bill today, they are no better than this warped kid.

@10:11 AM
You cared enough to leave an incoherent comment.

The 12-year-old should have been castrated.

That way, at least we could reduce the gene pool from someone who might repeat such a horrid act.

@10:28
The legislature needs to focus on important issues. Not this.

Anonymous said...

Did Buddy ever get adopted?

Anonymous said...

10:54 is cool with mental 12 year old future serial killers getting away with setting dogs on fire. Idk man, feels kinda important. Y'all kin ?

Anonymous said...

Legislation seems sensible, but "The 12-year-old should have been castrated" commenter could use some of the psychiatric evaluation time prescribed in the bill.

@11:51
lol no.

IMO the real animal cruelty is not putting that miserable creature to sleep!

Anonymous said...

11:51 Yes! The wonderful vet who cared for him adopted him.

@12:37 lol at yourelf! Nothing to laugh about here, and no need to comment when you don't know WTH you're talking about.

@1:13 Another one who needs to not comment when they don't know what they're talking about! This is a precious, loving creature who deserved a chance and now has a wonderful new home.

Many of those who abuse animals will abuse/murder people

According to almost every point of view in psychiatry, those that torment animals as children become monsters as adults. If only to get them in to treatment where they can be evaluated and watched, something must be done. He will escalate, and it won't be animals he tortures eventually. Deliberately causing pain to any living being is abhorrent. I eat meat, I'm not a vegan, but I try to buy from places that don't abuse their product.

I’m a hunter and have killed my fair share of animals, but you don’t treat anything like that. Pure evil. Kid should be horse whipped.

@1:26PM
America slaughters animals on a daily basis. Grocers sell those slaughtered animals on a daily basis. And you, you and your pot belly continue to open your refrigerator door and place those slaughtered animals between two pieces of bread and mayonnaise.

FOH, basically.

If the starving 12 year old slaughtered the dog and ate it, would you as be fake outraged?

10:32 makes a valid point. And yes it can be done. I had a former employee whose parents had him chemically castrated so he could not bring more misery into the world. They knew their child at that time couldn’t be helped and It worked out for him well into adulthood. I see in many facets of society that need this. Many argue against it but many valid points are brought into this discussion that show the proof. 7:50 for one makes a very good point.

10:11,

That's not really how slaughterhouses do it. The animal is put down with a quick shot of a penetrating rod to the brain and then hoisted up and bled out before processing. In a small number of animals, they still are not completely dead and sometimes struggle. In general, it's pretty quick and efficient.

I know this because I worked in a Mississippi meat processing plant for several years as a college student paying my way through school. Have you worked in one and seen it first-hand? Sounds like the answer might be "no"...

@6:36 AM
You've actually taken the time to dispute murdering animals vs murdering animals? FOH.

Anonymous said...

I’m sorry but ANYONE who does something like this to an animal has some major mental issues!! This is a sad, sick, evil demon!

Anonymous said...

@6:36
10:11 was describing a type of bronze age religious slaughterhouse you find serving New York, not Mississippi.

Anonymous said...

@8:12….which is it? They have mental issues or they are a demon? Do you see how people like you are a part of the problem? Yes, what happened is a very bad thing. Yes, this child needs help. Mental health is an issue. But people with mental health issues are not demons, and when we “demonize” people with mental health issues, we keep them from asking for help. Do better. Use your brain.

Do animal abusers typically seek help for the mental illness they possess?
Or are they convicted of murder as adults typically?

Seems a stretch for 9:58 to imply that our shaming the revolting behavior will somehow lead to little Johnny's suicide because he did not ask for help due to stigma.

I'd wager shaming and castrating little Johnny before he murders a human is solid best practice.

Anonymous said...

Buddy also has more class than some of these useless losers hanging around the Koestler bar hitting on skanks.

Anonymous said...

9:58 : Or maybe the mental were seen as demons back in the day and that has carried over. Bi-polar folks sure do seem like demons when they have a spell. This boy willfully set a dog on fire...watched it burn and has shown no remorse. I would say it's both mental and demonic.

Anonymous said...

No, people that do things like this are sick. They need their families to get them to get them into facilities asap. They need intense, long-term intervention. They’re minds are broken. If we’d all adopt the mentality that people like this need help and that we need facilities and personnel that can take care of people like them, we and our pets would all be safer.

@8:20 AM
The majority of humans are nothing more than followers who gotta be told what to think. Only a few can think for themselves. Sheeple. This is the reason why they hardly understand when the argument is lateral.

Anonymous said...

Buddies Bill failed. What that tells you is the elected can be sued when this kid kills a human. And he will.

Kingfish got me curious and I had to do several different searches to find anything that might be the story about the kid who burned burned the dog. Does anyone else know if this is the same kid?

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
