Clinton Police are looking for a credit card thief (alleged) after a shooting took place Sunday near the Super 8 hotel.
Police Chief Ford Hayman said yesterday that John Paul Jones, 21 years old, allegedly stole a credit card from Shakayla Washington at a Clinton laundromat. She started getting alerts on her phone of questionable spending at a convenience store. She went to the store and saw young Jones on a spending spree. Instead of calling the police, she hurried home, got her boyfriend, Jamarcus Williams, and returned to the store. Jones was still at the store.A confrontation ensued that ended in Williams allegedly shooting Jones. Williams and Washington were arrested. Clinton police charged Williams with aggravated assault and Washington with accessory after the fact. Jones was taken to a hospital but was later discharged. The police now seek Jones for credit card theft.
Chief Hayman said Washington should have called the police. He said the police would have helped her. "Instead, she took matters into her own hands." She and her boyfriend were charged with felonies. Neither person had a prior criminal record. The entire incident took less than ten minutes. The Chief said the police would have been there even quicker.
The police issued an arrest warrant for Jones and are looking for the suspect.

When keepin it real goes wrong
"Stupid is as stupid does" applies here.
Hopefully all 3 of these morons will be locked away for a long time
Williams, I know.
And yeah—if there are ANY complications he’s pulling the trigger.
Well? What happened to the girl’s laundry? Its gonna wrinkle….
Shakayla should receive the Clinton citizen of the year award.
I bet the little turd won't be so anxious to steal credit cards again.
This would make sense if the incident was in Jackson, where no one answers when you call 911, and it takes hours for a cop to show up when they do. In Clinton, response is still pretty good.
Poor judgment all the way around...
What a shame! Such an illustrious career as a bassist! I suppose he must've fallen on hard times after the band broke up, but nevertheless, it's hard to imagine such a talent resorting to stealing credit cards to make ends meet.
Again, just a real shame!
Put me on the jury. I’d vote to acquit the couple. Lil turd boy will make good fodder in Raymond.
Let that woman go. Every criminal needs to assume that citizens will shoot their ass. She did us all a favor.
Sounds a bit overkill to charge the girl with a felony. She had her card stolen, and her hothead boyfriend overreacted. Maybe there are other facts not printed in the story, but at this moment, I’m not seeing the basis for a felony charge.
So, she is an accessory after the fact of having her credit card stolen at a laundromat. Now I might could see whipping his ass, hog tying him, stuffing his mouth with dirty draws and putting him in a dryer for a 20 dolla ride on permanent press, probably not heavy cotton, however, anybody could push the wrong button "in the heat of the moment", but shooting him, that's going just a bit too far.
@9:42 PM
They should've blown the top of his head off.
Send a message.
9:42 for the win !!!!!
LMAO !!
The fall of man comes slowly. But cometh it will.
We have become a society that is dependent on lawyers for almost everything. That is a large part of the couse for the increase in crime. Back in the day if you stole a horse, rustled cattle, robbed a bank or got caught stealing you would most likely get shot or hanged. The crime rate was much lower then because would be criminals knew that there would be dire consequences for their illegal acts.
Now we have lenient judges who won’t even give them a hard slap on the wrist and they know it. The law has become so perverted that the criminal has more rights than the victim.
How did HE KNOW THE PIN #?
The HHS will replace up 2 two stolen EBT Cards a year. Everyone with EBT or knows someone in the EBT/TANF offices know the score. When asked how they thief got the PIN #...standard answer is...I couldn't remember it, so I wrote the PIN ON card with a permanent marker.
In several states, U can Bank Benefits. Some people have over $20k on ther EBT cards. Look it up.
