There is a prowler in the Heatherwood area. A resident posted these messages and picture on social media.
Beware!!! Black male walking around heatherwood with Rifle! We saw him in our driveway hiding in the bushes. He is wearing black and red pants with a black beanie. Has been reported to police
Yes. The police stopped by & we talked to them. I have seen multiple police cruising the neighborhood since then as well. There was a young black lady with braids driving a newer white Ford Explorer model on red fox with a Mississippi tag that starts ACO. She took a left on Reddoch and picked two guys up before the stop sign near the park. One being the guy in the photo and they drove off at 5:12 pm.
Here is video of the pickup.

If, that’s in Rankin County then when he is caught and he will be, it won’t be good for him. It will be good for the local citizens. RCSD will eliminate the problem. All he has to do is twitch.
Well, that's really troubling. Would the Protection of life if under a threat to life or property (Stand your ground - castle law) allow you to shoot that person? My fear is until that criminal makes a move to shoot, you can't defend your life or property. I'm not sure what reasonable defense action against a threat like that would be.
There are lawyers here. What would you tell a client?
The weapon appears to be an assault rifle.
That's bold. Broad daylight and cameras everywhere Reminds me of the rats snacking on sidewalk garbage in NOLA and NYC.
Obviously if the police would just run all Mississippi tags that start with ACO that are registered to a white Ford Explorer…. That would be a good starting point to solve this. Hope common sense prevails. This is horrible! NE Jackson residents are not safe. It’s terrible.
One woman who replied blamed this incident on the "open carry" laws. Sounds just like baby chowke.
Attn7:22 Running that tag sounds like a good idea until you find out it is stolen. By the way, why not have JPD check car tags constantly. This would identify stolen tags. But, that probably violates the stolen tag users basic rights and might involve some additional work.
7:22 that makes too much sense for JPD to do that
he’s defending his second amendment rights! if the police talked to
him and let him go, he’s carrying it for protection.
Open carry or Aminal out in the open?!
I assume "ACO" suggests the vehicle is tagged in Adams County. As someone else suggested, however, who knows if the vehicle is stolen?
NE Jackson is not what it used to be.
As of about 6-7 years ago, I would not have thought an African American walking around with a rifle would arouse much suspicion in that area. He probably lives in the neighborhood and is trying to defend it like everyone else. Face it Heatherwood people: he gets to walk around with a gun just like you do. I know that's not the way it worked in 1973 when you bought your house there. But, that's the way it works now. I wonder if some black person has reported a white person walking around with a rifle in that neighborhood?
9:06 yes he is afforded the same opportunity. However, that opportunity doesn't extend to him hiding in someone else's bushes.
“Thug” and “prowler” if you are a Black Man with an AR15
“Patriot” and “Minuteman” if you are a white boy with an AR15
9:06, I am sure lots of homeowners in Heatherwood walk through other people’s yards with a rifle, and hide in the bushes, as was reported in this case. Are you really that dumb. Or just being sarcastic.
9:06 AM - you are either a troll, have white guilt, are stupid, or all of the above. He was in someone's yard, i.e. not his own. He wasn't a neighbor. He was fixin' to rob someone.
Hey 9:06, you conveniently left out that this person is on someone else’s property. Hiding in. The bushes no less per the notification. Of course, there probably some distorted way of explaining that away, too.
I guess the Blog-Master expects me to do some research to figure out where this street is in which town.
Meanwhile: There you people go again. There's no such thing as an assault rifle.

Lastly...Is there an association between this guy and the trailered ATV in the photo?
January 17, 2022 at 9:06 AM = mis-direction, FUD
Attn 9:06: Please read carefully. If he 'lives in the neighborhood', what are the chances a white Ford truck would, in a few minutes, be picking him and another guy up on the street?
But, hell...he might be just picking up litter or weeding flower beds. Whatever he's up to, he's begging to get himself offed.
6:33...You can tell him in no uncertain terms to get off your property. If he raises his firearm or tells you he is going to kill you, you can shoot him. After you shoot him, if it appears he is reaching for his trigger, you may shoot him again. After that, you should go back inside and dial 911. If you have any drugs on the coffee table, you should place them out of sight.
A prowler? Why are you posting? Go get him! Citizen’s arrest!

Chokwe, not Chowke.
Respect a black man in a position of power.
@8:53AM
You don’t live in Northeast Jackson. Empty comment.
Except the video makes the behavior more suspicious.
Somebody probably posted on Nextdoor that a deer was running around.
I said it was in Heatherwood. That is off of Old Canton Road in Northeast Jackson.
1. He is on someone else's property.
2. He is hiding in bushes.
3. He gets picked up by an SUV that is tagged from a county not immediately local.
4. And he is openly displaying a rifle.
Suspicious behavior? Naaaaaaaaaah
If any person, regardless of color, was standing outside of Chowkey's gate with an openly carried weapon you can't bet your last dollar it would attract immediate significant attention.
This is just like when Byron De La Beckwith assassinated Medgar Evers. I’m thinking the “prowler” may have been a hitman for hire.
Seems like a stranger in the bushes of one's home with a gun is bad news no matter the skin tone.
But it amuses me to think of the people committing these crimes being pleased to see the folks defending them and their rights to rob and steal, free from racial profiling.
Probably viewing said commentary on stolen iPads, only adds to the irony and humor.
Doesn’t matter to me the skin color of the person carrying a firearm, it’s if they’re running, hiding, and doing sneaky shit that would concern me. When I was living in Alaska people would go shopping with a bolt action rifle shouldered, walk down the street carrying, the ACAB batshit crazy white liberals carried guns and no one cared.
Police can see all the doorbell videos. Neighborhood HOA should call Police at precinct and downtown to ensure this fellow is investigated and that a police report follow up is available.
Having said that, I carried a pellet air rifle as a boy all the time on my way through my neighborhood following a creek towards open country with a lake to shoot water-moccasins.
Some air rifles now have 'military' designs.
I live in Heatherwood, and if you (any color and identifying as whatever) are sneaking around my yard with a weapon in hand!!! I won't even give you the chance to surrender. I will be in fear of my life and send you to your maker for him to sort it out.

It's Chowke
That's what they put on the damn plaque last year
Use of legal deadly force is a very limited. Glad no harm done. Assume looking for a easy home to invade? Point man. These folks were aware, kudo's.
There sure is a lot of bad legal advice regarding the use of firearms and deadly force in that Nextdoor discussion.
A planned hit on another banger in RANKIN ? Say it ain't so Rankinites. Our mower thiefs here in Hinds county got nuttin on y'all. Lol. Just playin.
Here's a link that shows the exact pants he's wearing, which are quite distinct. Not really the best choice of attire for trying to camouflage yourself in the bushes or go unnoticed. Add in the fact he doesn't even appear to be making any attempt whatsoever to conceal his weapon as he strolls across people's yards, it seems this is a pretty brazen individual. It's also quite possible that he was involved in another crime(s) that same day & might have even come in contact with police or gotten arrested for something else & the dots just weren't connected back to this incident. Especially if it was in a different precinct that wasn't aware of this incident. https://www.darkrock.net/product/men-gothic-split-leg-bondage-pant-rock-hard-trouser-heavy-weight-emo-tripp-pants/
