Hinds County District 2 Supervisor David L. Archie accused Sheriff Tyree Jones of interfering with the Board of Supervisors and warned him to stay in his lane. Mr. Archie claims he is the President of the Board as does District 3 Supervisor Credell Calhoun.
The District 2 Supervisor has disrupted several meetings. Deputies were forced to clear the room recently when things got overheated and Mr. Calhoun shoved Mr. Archie with a chair. Sheriff Jones said Mr. Calhoun is the Board President and he would maintain order in the Board room.
Mr. Archie didn't take that warning too well and fired back with a letter of his own.
To make sure everyone got the point, Mr. Archie held a press conference this morning. He said he was the President of the Board of Supervisors.
Kingfish note: If he has a valid claim, why doesn't he get a TRO?

Poor Archie. He’s just not giving up. I hope The NY Times doesn’t run with this story
I recognize that 'Family Feud' lineup photo, right down to Steve Harvey.
There is no automatic "ascension". Archie loses in court.
After his totally out-of-control off-the-hook tirades of the past few months now Archie wants to be the leader taking the high road? ROFLMAO
thanks Waller voters!
And yet "The Show must go on".
Ughhhh!!
i'll be honest. i never watched these shit-show meetings so i haven't seen what happens. the comments are descriptive enough. but seriously, why is is so fucking hard to know who is president of the council?
This is the new normal. Losers claiming they are actually winners. Votes don't matter. Results don't matter. Only forcefully claiming your own truth matters.
Kingfish, a first year lawyer knows that the facts don't support the issuance of a TRO. A TRO may be granted . . . .if "it appears from specific facts shown by affidavit or by verified complaint that 'immediate and irreparable injury, loss or damage' will result to the applicant before the adverse party or his attorney can be heard in opposition. . . . " Archie's seat on the board is not in jeopardy; instead, it's the title. The only irreparable and irreversible injury occurred years ago to Archie's mind.
WHERE IS THE CLOWN CAR ?
Archie just compared himself to Jesus, Malcom X, Medgar Evers and MLK? You can't make this up.
Addie Green is casket clean. . . . but as empty as a wagon on a rocky road.
David Archie is mentally unbalanced, but the fact is, he represents a very large constituency of the mentally unbalanced in Hinds County. Their ranks are growing and they will be heard!
David Malcom X Dr. King Farrakhan Archie.
Sounds about right.
Lord I hope he isn't a guest on Wades show today. Make me have to listen to the vax freaks over on the FM station.
" I recognize that 'Family Feud' lineup photo, right down to Steve Harvey ".
That was funny 9:29.
But so true !
Note to David L. Archie:
The Sheriff of any County within Mississippi has the authority
to arrest ANYONE that violates the Law.
Mr. Archie is a foolish man. I couldn't support that guy to the point I would stand beside him and be considered just as foolish as he.
Why can't he understand if the majority of the board wants to change a policy they can. The people can't let one guy hijack the board of supervisors. This guy is on a power trip. I don't see how a reasonable supporter of this guy would stand behind what he's trying to do.
Note to 5:44:
Mr. Archie claims that no laws have been broken.
I also saw that Mr. Archie now claims to be Jesus.
9:31, I believe you are 'wrong' on point one, and 'right' on point 2.
There has been 'ascension' in the office of President in Hinds County, and that policy was adopted at the organizational meeting of the present board in January 2020. At that time, they elected a President and Vice President, with the Vice-President ascending to President after a year.
But, despite Archie's constant reference to Robert's Rules of Order, there is nothing that establishes RRO as guiding for County Boards of Supervisors. They could probably adopt it as policy, but so far it appears that the HCBOS has never done so.
And, RRO also 'suggests' that it should take a super-majority to change an organization's By-Laws. Besides the fact that it doesn't appear that the HCBOS has a set of By-Laws, unless they made a statement to the effect of adopting RRO,or made a statement about what vote it would take to change the previous (January 2020 action), a majority vote would suffice.
Mississippi statute does prevail, however, and it states that a Board can act unless there are specific provisions that exist in statute. And there is nothing in the MS Code (section 19) that outlines the requirement to have a set of "by-laws", or to follow RRO, or to require super-majority votes for any particular action.
Ergo, I believe Archie does lose in court, assuming that the action taken previously with Calhoun, Gavin and McGowan's vote to reelect Calhoun was properly recorded. The video from that meeting was hard to decipher the voices of those sitting out front of the plexiglass (should be replaced with chicken wire so the audience could throw beer bottles and rotten fruit, but I digress).
On another front - is DLA trying to start a new fashion trend with the buttoning of only the TOP button of a three0button coat? And crazy Addie is now causing fashion competition with her history of hats by wearing a flower as big or bigger.
