Where is the Doom?

It's been six weeks since the CDC Director engaged in a whinefest on national tv as she warned of "impending doom" from Covid-19.  An emotional Dr. Rochelle Walensky cried out at a March 29 briefing:

I'm going to pause here. I'm going to lose the script, and I'm going to reflect on the recurring feeling I have of impending doom. We have so much to look forward to, so much promise and potential of where we are and so much reason for hope. But right now I'm scared....

I'm speaking today not necessarily as your CDC director - not only as your CDC director but as a wife, as a mother, as a daughter to ask you to just please hold on a little while longer.

 Watch for yourself.

So..... what has happened in the last six weeks?

The average daily Covid-19 deaths declined from 3.01 deaths per day on March 29 to 1.87 deaths per day on March 13.  There were 1,328 deaths on March 26 (March 29 reported deaths for Sunday, which is usually lower).  There are 501 deaths on Mary 15 - a 64% drop in Covid-19 deaths since Dr. Walensky warned of "impending doom."

The moving seven-day average fell from 1,004 deaths to 580 deaths, a decrease of 42%.

What about hospitalizations? The CDC speaks for itself.

Doomsday is here.

How about the Imperial College's claim in 03/2020 of 2.2 M dead Americans if we did nothing? and 1.1 M dead Americans if we enacted some mitigation measures? All by July 4th 2020!!!!!!!

Talk about emotional manipulation.....

She is a poster child for a snowflake progressive bureaucrat. If there is no longer a "crisis," create one, while the MSM hangs onto every word.

The only doom in our future is that created by the Marxists in the White House/Executive Branch.

More nonsense from the hysterical liberal left.

I thought the beginning of baseball season was going to be the start of body bags and mass graves.

What a joke.

Gosh, you could almost look at the graph and draw some correlation between time spent outside in the sun and chances of catching a fatal case of covid. Nah, better follow the science. CDC woulda told me if sunshine and exercise were good for my immune system, surely.

Um, there was a surge last summer.

I am in my 60's and met a man in his 30's last summer who commented, "I told my sons, 'America was not founded based upon fear.'" Wise beyond his years.

How does this compare to the yearly flu deaths for
Comparison. Really asking not just trolling.

KF, MS National Guard Officers Convention was first group to use the new convention center in Flowood this weekend. Smashing success. I don’t see how we ever have it in Jackson again with this great venue.

We should be pleased that the worse case scenario predicted, has to date NOT occurred. Instead of being disparaging and mean spirited toward those who take/took the virus seriously and remain fearful and cautious,we should be thankful that God has granted us a measure of grace. We should be careful not to dismiss or take it for granted.

Despite our best efforts most people survived and will continue to do so. Still don't buy the total number of so called direct Covid deaths.

Um, look at the size of it. It was tiny. Look at the winter surge. Huge!

Kingfish doesn’t truly believe in freedom of speech. Thus this blog is no different than the left-coast phonies.

KF, if you truly believe in the First Amendment, then quit censoring comments you don’t agree with. Otherwise, you’re no better than MSNBC and CNN.

Vaccination and previous infection immunity. Most logical explanation. Success for all except for the doomsayers.

Your comment wasn't approved because you felt the need to invoke Trump. Some people just insist on injecting presidents or former presidents into every thread. Such is not allowed at JJ. I rejected countless comments when Obama was president. The post could be about a football game yet someone would try to work Obama into it. Same thing with Trump. Unless Trump is the subject of the post, such comments usually are not allowed. Don't like it, go to the JFP and see how far you get. Go to Mississippi Today. Oh, that's right, they abolished comments last week. You can always go to the Facebook pages of WLBT, WJTV, WAPT, and the Clarion-Ledger, of course.

@9:25pm I've had KF censure some of my comments, and upon further reflection - I pretty much deserved it. Now that MississppiNoWay.org stopped allowing comments (due to the connected and powerful cutting their access off unless they did so) this blog is the only bastion of free speech left in Mississippi.

KF - you should post those numbers you have from time to time about the number of statewide viewers per site in Mississippi. JJ is one of the most often read by far because of all the greasy good stuff that IS allowed.

The average flu deaths in the US is 36000 per year.

If you think about it, those who live, like we do, in less densely populated States are less likely to be exposed as we are in contact with fewer people generally in our daily lives and in more open spaces.

In Mississippi, we aren't in skyscrapers packed in elevators or high rise apartments or taking taxis or mass transportation.

And if you travel to various States and observe the goings and comings of those around you, the disconnect between urban and rural voters becomes easier to understand.

KF, if you recall what was occurring in March in Europe with the virus and that getting vaccinations here was more problematic in some States than others, it's clear the differences in vaccinations and whether our vaccines would be effective against mutations was unknown. Thank the Lord for giving gifting scientists with the extraordinary abilities to develop these vaccines!

CDC has changed their views as verifiable information arrives on their desks.

I wish those who thought CV 19 was a "nothing" would do the same and admit over 500000 deaths ( not considering "long haulers" disabilities) is a far cry from the 36000 ordinary flu deaths with next to zero long term disability.

We used to have a better understanding in this country that " one size doesn't fit all"...that our personal experiences and priorities weren't the same in every nook and cranny of this Nation. I suspect that was in part because our men , at least, served in the military and with rare exception met more people from other places and by necessity, lived in other places.

When that happens, you appreciate that sometimes, others can find a better way to "skin a cat" or have cause to do things differently.

We've become a nation of "right fighters" and that is NOT psychologically healthy!

Could it be that being locked down was part of the problem. Most contract tracing show familial and shared abodes as the common vector. While being outside in fresh air and sunlight seems to be the safest place. Will we see an uptick when temperatures spike and people retreat into their air conditioning?

Get your sun, stay outdoors, take zinc, vit D3, vit c, and turmeric. You should be fine. If you do feel the onset, find a doctor that will give you ivermectin or other therapeutics.

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
