That whole situation sucks for him. I hope his draft position isn't negatively affected. I doubt he is back ready to go before the combine. I certainly am no Nick Saban, but Alabama could have beaten us (MS State) with their left tackle at QB. No need to leave him in that game that long especially with a recovering ankle. Prayers for TUA on a speedy recovery.

10:12, that was a clean hit. Not intentional at all. Just bad situation. You are literally the first person I have read a comment on the situation saying it was intentional.

Right! Those mean state defenders should have let him loose so he could run to his right and hit a receiver in the end-zone.

The tackle was clean. Tua trying to protect the ankle may have been a factor. Bama coaches had 2 chances to get it right: 1. pull him from the game because he wasn't healthy and game in bag; and/or 2. get him to throw it away in that situation and not scramble.

This is really bad. Hips aren't like knees. It's much harder to return to pro athlete form after a major hip injury. Recent examples include Percy Harvin and Isaiah Thomas, who were both never the same after hip injuries not nearly this bad.

Nick was really stretching for an answer as to why he was still in the game when he came up with practicing their 2 minute drill.i. Injuries happen and their was nothing “dirty” with the tackle. Two big guys falling in Tua. But he had an injury that affected his movement when there was no need for him to stay in the game.

Probably guaranteed Tua an early hip replacement. I work with a former Big 10 offensive lineman. He was a three-year starter, is 39 years old and struggles daily with back issues. His HS freshman son is more than big enough but not allowed to play football. The boy though can hit the baseball a country mile.

What are you, twelve years old???

It's football. Clean tackle. Freak injury. Not MSU's fault NOR Saban's for keeping him in a game. Thanks to the committee system, you have to club everyone by 30 or else risk getting 'passed' over for a playoff spot...

He has two leg injuries and now this--he's seemingly too fragile for the NFL.

for the record-Bama grad.

An alternate theory is this: Saban knows/knew damned well he will not be in the playoffs, much less the National Champions. His best way out of this, given his ego, is to leave the boy in, in hopes of him re-injuring the foot/leg or hope for worse so he can blame being left out on Tua's non-availability. The man is a genius at deflection and escaping like shit through a goose. He needs to retire to Destin or either make hair plug commercials for Hair Clubs of America.

Nonsense discussion. Bama up 28, but State gets the ball to start the 2nd half. Suppose the Dawgs go down and score?

As I recall, a few hours later, LSU was up 24 at the half and, indeed, Ole Miss scores out of the gate to open the 2nd half. The game was a barn burner after that. I don’t recall any discussion about Orgeron pulling Burrow at the half.

And don’t give me this business about the Bama QB being already injured. His ankle wasn’t even wrapped, and he was moving well. No one at the time noted him “favoring” the ankle, unlike the week before against LSU. To say he shouldn’t have played is ridiculous unless you know something no one else seems to.

Finally, the Tide scored exactly 3 points in the second half without him. Had State been capable of pulling an “Ole Miss” in the second half, the game could have turned out much differently. How would Saban answer those questions?

Silly discussion. Football is a violent game. Injuries happen. It sux, but they happen.

One of the best CF QBs ever. Even better person. Freak accident in a competitive sport. Sad.

Nothing else matters, but the young man’s health. Not football, not money, and certainly not nasty things that people say here or anywhere about his team or his coach.

Sorry a player was injured. Wait, it was more than just one player hurt, there were SEVERAL players hurt during a contact sporting game Saturday in Starkville. This QB is just a guy that plays this sport. He’s really good and will play professionally one day. The other players are just as important to the human race as Tua. My Alabama friends act like a biblical event occurred when he went down. Most of them didn’t even attend school there. Some people need to realize its wrong to hero worship and that they look foolish when doing it.

10:43 AM. So you know......

Every college has fans who have never attended school there, and most schools welcome them to their fanbase. You look foolish even mentioning this as if it really matters. It doesn’t.

He's not dead.

Cards, Letters and Balloons said...

No. Tua will not ever play professionally. And neither will Roy Lee Mullins who suffered a devastating injury while playing for Ole Miss - later dying as a result. Saban will not be admonished by peers or those to whom he (supposedly) reports. And life will go on (for most of us).

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
