Ole Miss to Vacate Wins

The NCAA vacated 33 wins by the Ole Miss football team.  Rebel Grove reported:

Ole Miss, because of ineligible player participation, vacates all wins from 2010 (four wins), 2011 (two), 2012 (seven) and 2016 (five). All wins other than the Music City Bowl from 2013 (seven wins) must be vacated, as well as all wins from 2014 except for the Presbyterian game (eight wins).... Rest of article.
2010: Tulane, Fresno State, Kentucky, ULL
 2011: Southern Illinois, Fresno State
2012: Central Arkansas, UTEP, Auburn, Tulane, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh
2013: Vanderbilt, Southeast Missouri, LSU, Texas, Idaho, Arkansas, Troy
2014: Boise State, Vanderbilt, ULL, Memphis, Alabama, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Tennessee
2016: Wofford, Georgia, Memphis, Georgia Southern, Texas A&M
Of course, there is one thing the NCAA can't vacate:

What silliness. I think the NCAA would have a better chance of curbing future behavior like this if they made the offending parties write "I will not cheat anymore" 500 times on the blackboard.

typical limp-wristed ncaa. vacated wins. whatever.

1 of 2 Alabama losses to the Rebels are now "disappeared." Now if they could just find a way to erase Clemson . . .

for the record, Alabama alum.

Let's look at the UNC cheating scandal. All of the upper administration knew AND even some supported the fake classes, inflated grades, inflated test scores. Absolutely nothing happened.

Louisville basically ran a brothel.

The NCAA is the absolute definition of hypocrisy.

@1:40p - spoken like a true ole missirite - always gotta put a spin on it.

1:40 PM - The way vacating wins works is that the WINS disappear. The record shall always reflect that Alabama lost twice to Ole Miss though. That doesn't go away.

Back in the old days they used to call them forfeits. The score would be 2-0.
That would really be a boost to the Ole Piss defensive stats. All the losses would be just 2-0. What DEFENSE!

Can Ole Miss ever return to its former glory without the Colonel and the flag?

KF,

In the past, wins were vacated for NCAA violations and wins were forfeited for using ineligible players. There is a big difference here.

If OM asking for vacated wins vs forfeits and the NCAA must rule again?

I’ll go ahead and say it. It won’t stop the cheating. Tutors will still take the tests, card will still be bought for momma and granmaw, the athletes (and this is the laughable part), will STILL get in front of a microphone and mumble some kind of 3rd grade equivalent jibberish about running a ball for a coach and dooooin da bess we cann ya win da game. Nothing Will change. In the meantime your kids are forced to score high on their tests so this type stooodunt can get a full ride. Nuff said

I sure hate they gotta give up the Wofford win. Does this mean I can stop trying to find out who the hell Wofford is and where they are?

Will the trophy case still be empty except for an asterisk?

Never let it be forgotten that Archibald Manning brought Hugh Freeze to town. And U-Haul took his ass away.

If the ncaa and sec weren’t corrupted, they’d shut down the webels foosball program for a couple of years.

Whenever I hear the term "Ole Miss'" I cannot help but think of Miss Hattie from "Gone With the Wind". The school needs a full makeover....don't they realize their nicknames scream "We're in Blackface full time!" (?) Good grief. Heritage of Hate University.

They haven't stopped cheating and never will as long as the big boys run the football program. It's obvious again this year they are slinging money left and right at 18 yr olds and their mommas. Let them do it. As long at titty boy is leading the program it will never be successful again.

Ole Miss hit bottom last year, and they are now beginning to turn things around. The results will begin to show in 2020. MSU blew an opportunity to burn the program down completely, though they were successful in doing it temporarily. Meanwhile, TAM and Georgia are driving up the cost of business.

Of course, it won’t stop the cheating by Ole Miss; what else have they got? The rest of the South left Mississippi behind a long, long time ago. I just wish the SEC would toss out Ole Miss once and for all. Watching my team on the road is fun, except for traveling to Oxford. What a dump – a third world country. You people are so backwards. SEC schools could do so much better with their money than using it to subsidize Ole Miss. The character of Ole Miss is clear in this statement by your athletic director: "In a way it's just a piece of paper because you saw those games." How pathetic.

"I sure hate they gotta give up the Wofford win. Does this mean I can stop trying to find out who the hell Wofford is and where they are?"

Seriously - if you have to cheat to beat Wofford maybe the SEC is a little out of your reach.......

Watch it Dawgs and Tide/Elephants and others casting stones. Yes, NCAA has it out for the Rebels, but they won't stop there. You're next.

Anonymous said...

7:30--Sorry you didn't have a good time in Oxford. Did your team lose? If Oxford is such a "dump" to you, you'd probably be happier not to come back. On the bright side, you won't be missed; there are plenty of fans from other teams who love to come to Oxford. BTW--where is your team located?

Anonymous said...

Kudos to 7:19 for keeping the "Let's Blame MSU" mantra alive. Always somebody else's fault when misbehavior results in punishment. No personal responsibility or accountability. State did it do us. Rally Round Freeze. Nobody in Oxford did anything wrong. NOOoooooBaddy.

Anonymous said...

@11:46 "Yes, NCAA has it out for the Rebels"....what? The college is a cesspool of mismanagement and exaggerated egos. They brought this all on themselves....and it's just the tip of the iceberg....they have no intention of changing, and yes, even people in Mississippi are tired of their BS.

If you don't like the SEC, get out. It is not like the SEC will fold without Ole Miss. The SEC somehow survived when powerhouse Tulane left. The SEC has its eyes on bigger fish than Ole Miss. (Probably Ms. State also for that matter). Rename the bldgs., put up new statues, create new flags, find new mascots, and last but not least either go athletically independent, or join the same conference as Univ. of Southern Mississippi.

What we need in Oxford is a good, old-fashioned KA Ball - With a band playing Hot Nuts and Dixie...an event where we can pay homage to John Vaught and Archie and Ross Barnett. And it'll be by invitation only (wink wink). Let's get things back to normal and get past this unfortunate blip in our storied history. We need to get back on the cover of Sports Illustrated! Come ON Y'all! You with me?

Raise your hand if you don't think Matt Luke isn't a pawn for "the network" and their cheating antics? Ole Miss is paying him $3mil for 3 years to get the program back in shape....Matt Luke. Dude is taking one for the team if he gets caught trying to right the ship. Don't think they are not up to their old tricks, look at Ealy(Prep) and Mingo(Brandon) and the rest of that #22 recruiting class this year. These kids were freshmen in High School when all of this NCAA drama unfolded. Rumor is the bagman has been working overtime in the metro area this year.

Anonymous said...

All schools cheat. Only some get caught.

Anonymous said...

I personally wish the MSU bagmen gave as much effort as the Ole Miss bagmen. Whichever school loses the prize recruit should tip the hat to the other and say, "I'll getcha on the next one." There is no need to rat each other out. Both schools are already trailing the other SEC bagmen. Look at all the out-of-state bagmen that grabbed MS kids this class. MSU step your game up, so these kids stay home and shine! Ole Miss can't buy them all.

Anonymous said...

"All schools cheat. Only some get caught."

Right. All coaches are chasing whores and all assistant coaches and boosters are paying recruits. And crime is equal in every town in the Metro. All kids pop caps and hold they guns sideways. All city officials are sexually harassing they employees. All city councilmen in all towns are ignert and on the take. All school systems fail they students and all teachers are lazy.

Getchur ass outa here with that crap. It's real old and ignert.

I thought 'forfeit' meant a win is credited to the other team and vacated simply means the win is erased from that team's record.

@2/13 5:23PM

I know all programs don't cheat, but I bet you everyone of the power 5 programs has a decent size bone or two that would fall out of the closet, if the door was opened. I say let the bagmen pay the kids and not rat each other out, because a significant number of those kids are only there for a miniscule chance at reaching the NFL. Some kids do not have to be bought simply because their families have the means, but for those that do not have the means, I do not blame those kids for going to the highest bidders. It is a way to help their mamas and siblings. Meanwhile, the schools have stadiums filled, concessions and goods sold, TV money dropped in the coffers, and increased applications and enrollments off the work of these 18-23 year-old "student-athletes". If Tom Lawyer, John Dr., or Sam Engineer wants to drop a little cash on a kid to come to their school, let them do it. Honestly, what does the NCAA truly do for the "student-athlete" with those hundreds of millions raised each year?

12:08 - Is that your back door way of saying none of this matters in the least. Tell it to your 10 year old's soccer team next time you bring Gatorade and Twinkies.

The Unsilent Majority said...

Every single power 5 conference cheats. The difference is don’t be flagrant. Don’t have 300 lb lineman driving yellow corvettes. High Schol programs cheat with under the table scholarships at private schools and P.O. Box addresses at public schools. It’s the way it is and the way it will always be. In regards to vacated wins, that’s just silly. They happened, we saw the games and the final scores. Oh and Hotty Toddy

Trollfest '09

Trollfest '07 was such a success that Jackson Jambalaya will once again host Trollfest '09. Catch this great event which will leave NE Jackson & Fondren in flames. Othor Cain and his band, The Black Power Structure headline the night while Sonjay Poontang returns for an encore performance. Former Frank Melton bodyguard Marcus Wright makes his premier appearance at Trollfest singing "I'm a Sweet Transvestite" from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." Kamikaze will sing his new hit, “How I sold out to da Man.” Robbie Bell again performs: “Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be Bells” and “Any friend of Ed Peters is a friend of mine”. After the show, Ms. Bell will autograph copies of her mug shot photos. In a salute to “Dancing with the Stars”, Ms. Bell and Hinds County District Attorney Robert Smith will dance the Wango Tango.

Wrestling returns, except this time it will be a Battle Royal with Othor Cain, Ben Allen, Kim Wade, Haley Fisackerly, Alan Lange, and “Big Cat” Donna Ladd all in the ring at the same time. The Battle Royal will be in a steel cage, no time limit, no referee, and the losers must leave town. Marshand Crisler will be the honorary referee (as it gives him a title without actually having to do anything).

Meet KIM Waaaaaade at the Entergy Tent. For five pesos, Kim will sell you a chance to win a deed to a crack house on Ridgeway Street stuffed in the Howard Industries pinata. Don't worry if the pinata is beaten to shreds, as Mr. Wade has Jose, Emmanuel, and Carlos, all illegal immigrants, available as replacements for the it. Upon leaving the Entergy tent, fig leaves will be available in case Entergy literally takes everything you have as part of its Trollfest ticket price adjustment charge.

Donna Ladd of The Jackson Free Press will give several classes on learning how to write. Smearing, writing without factchecking, and reporting only one side of a story will be covered. A donation to pay their taxes will be accepted and she will be signing copies of their former federal tax liens. Ms. Ladd will give a dramatic reading of her two award-winning essays (They received The Jackson Free Press "Best Of" awards.) "Why everything is always about me" and "Why I cover murders better than anyone else in Jackson".

In the spirit of helping those who are less fortunate, Trollfest '09 adopts a cause for which a portion of the proceeds and donations will be donated: Keeping Frank Melton in his home. The “Keep Frank Melton From Being Homeless” booth will sell chances for five dollars to pin the tail on the jackass. John Reeves has graciously volunteered to be the jackass for this honorable excursion into saving Frank's ass. What's an ass between two friends after all? If Mr. Reeves is unable to um, perform, Speaker Billy McCoy has also volunteered as when the word “jackass” was mentioned he immediately ran as fast as he could to sign up.

In order to help clean up the legal profession, Adam Kilgore of the Mississippi Bar will be giving away free, round-trip plane tickets to the North Pole where they keep their bar complaint forms (which are NOT available online). If you don't want to go to the North Pole, you can enjoy Brant Brantley's (of the Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance) free guided tours of the quicksand field over by High Street where all complaints against judges disappear. If for some reason you are unable to control yourself, never fear; Judge Houston Patton will operate his jail where no lawyers are needed or allowed as you just sit there for minutes... hours.... months...years until he decides he is tired of you sitting in his jail. Do not think Judge Patton is a bad judge however as he plans to serve free Mad Dog 20/20 to all inmates.

Trollfest '09 is a pet-friendly event as well. Feel free to bring your dog with you and do not worry if your pet gets hungry, as employees of the Jackson Zoo will be on hand to provide some of their animals as food when it gets to be feeding time for your little loved one.

Relax at the Fox News Tent. Since there are only three blonde reporters in Jackson (being blonde is a requirement for working at Fox News), Megan and Kathryn from WAPT and Wendy from WLBT will be on loan to Fox. To gain admittance to the VIP section, bring either your Republican Party ID card or a Rebel Flag. Bringing both and a torn-up Obama yard sign will entitle you to free drinks served by Megan, Wendy, and Kathryn. Get your tickets now. Since this is an event for trolls, no ID is required. Just bring the hate. Bring the family, Trollfest '09 is for EVERYONE!!!

This is definitely a Beaver production.
